Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Cursed Transfer

Chapter 3: The Cursed Transfer

Noxharte Academy was rarely quiet. Magic buzzed in the air, and gossip traveled faster than spells. But on this morning, as the first bell echoed through the halls, a strange stillness swept across Class D.

Aero Nacht sat at the back of the room, his usual place in the shadows. His presence was barely acknowledged now—not out of respect, but confusion. No one knew what happened in the Forbidden Dungeon. And no one dared to ask.

The classroom door creaked.

A new figure stood at the threshold.

She wore a black, high-collared coat. Her silver hair shimmered with a faint gradient of violet-blue. Her pale skin glowed with an ethereal softness, and her violet eyes reflected light like mirrors—cold, distant, ancient.

She walked in without hesitation, heels clicking softly against the rune-etched floor.

The room went dead silent.

Even Aero looked up.

She walked to the seat next to him.

And sat.

No words. No hesitation.

Professor Albrecht narrowed his eyes. "You must be… Nyx Elvaris. Our transfer from the border provinces."

She said nothing.

Only nodded.

---

Whispers broke out.

"She's gorgeous…"

"Why is she wearing gloves in summer?"

"Did her eyes… glow?"

Aero remained silent. But his eyes stayed on her.

And hers… briefly flicked toward him.

A pause.

Then she looked away.

Later: Spell Theory Class – Library Hall

Aero walked alone through the upper library floor, drifting between forbidden tomes and ancient texts no first-year should touch.

A cold presence met him at the far table.

Nyx was already there.

They both reached for the same book.

Their fingers brushed.

Violet and black eyes met.

"You're not normal," she said, voice quiet, like a whisper of frost.

"Neither are you," Aero replied.

---

Training Grounds – That Evening

Upperclassmen were testing spell resonance.

One tried to flirt with Nyx. She ignored him.

Another reached out to touch her arm.

He collapsed.

Screaming.

Blood trickled from his nose. His mind… shattered by something he couldn't explain.

She said nothing.

Did nothing.

The headmaster's orb trembled slightly in his tower.

---

Dorm Rooftop – Night

Nyx sat under the moon, legs crossed, hair dancing in the wind.

Aero stood behind her.

"I know what you are," she said.

"And what's that?"

"The thing even the gods forgot."

A long silence passed.

Then she whispered, almost brokenly:

"If you fall… I'll fall with you."

Aero said nothing.

But the seal in his soul cracked again.
