Chapter 1 - CROSSING PATHS

It was midsummer and even with the outrageous sunny weather people still moved about like it wasn't seventy degrees Celsius out. But today was different, dark clouds engulfed the sky and lightening struck like hurricanes in the clouds, it was like the earth was trying to warn of the great chaos today would bring forth, the freezing weather threatened to turn everything within its reach to frost. In spite of the abnormal cold weather the heating systems of h cities top one medical unit beat it.

Inside the hospital light scents of medicine, aesthetics and people huddled around in different wards made the unit feel grim but none could compare to the grim feel eliminating out of Mr. Sung the imperial cities most revered mafia boss.

His imposing presence alone made the medical staff present shiver in fear, he stood with an eerie quiet at the entrance of the emergency ward hands folded together awaiting the birth of his child, after a long wait the doors were finally opened and a doctor walked out with a look of dread that instantly told anyone something was wrong.

He stood before Mr. sung and his black clad men hesitant to speak.

''Speak '' the booming metallic voice of Mr. Song made the doctor jump slightly; he adjusted his tie while clearing his throat as if trying to muster courage to give the information he had.

''Master Sung the doctor GU ye started, your w-wife had a safe delivery but s-she---'' he paused

Continue! Mr. Sung ordered

S-she didn't make it – we couldn't save her sir he finished stuttering.

The emotionless Mr. sung was a bit shaken to hear this he blamed the death of his most favoured wife on her son, slowly as he walked into the emergency ward his eyes cast downward, he saw the motionless body of his third wife Ji hyun and by the bed beside her a baby boy cooing softly, He had Gray beautiful eyes and light toned skin. Furious he asked for the baby to be killed immediately but the hospital staff refused while nurses took the baby to a nursing area till he calmed down.

Amidst the sea of a dozen babies master sung's baby boy slept soundly while the nursing staff gossiped of the masters cruel nature, he was so merciless even to the point of wanting to kill his new born baby, as their discussions went on sparks flew out of a socket and electrocuting the nearby chemicals, the next second there was an explosion loud enough to deafen the ears of everyone present.

Purple smoke engulfed the nursing unit and loud sirens warning of potential fire rang throughout the medical centre. An hour after the explosion all children were successfully rescued and safe, two men in black clad uniforms walked past the crowd of parents to ensure the safety of Mr. sung's child but after enquiry the staff had no idea where he was, after a double check the staff realised he was still inside the nursery. They rushed in to save him but only to find a once cute baby with adorable Gray eyes now purple swirling sinister eyes.

The baby's once cute and adorable appearance now gone and replaced with a scar on his left eyebrow and cuts on his back, he had a gaze that pierced right into ones soul and eyes as ominous as a devil that seemed to scare everyone present.

They say every great leader has a story –well true all legends do have a story and our male lead never knew that the day he met her- his story as well would begin –but was it for the better or for the worst?

INT---- H CITY--- DAY

The sweet songs of chirping birds were heard as the purple orchids bloomed in the ever green garden of the Ming family's first house; though it seemed quite peaceful in reality chaos was brewing, today the sung families young masters were coming over to fulfil the contract agreement the two families had a long time ago.

Contract agreement states that at the proper age the sung families' young masters would pick their brides from the Ming families' daughters.

EXT. H CITY - MING FAMILY ESTATE – MORNING

The sun filtered weakly through gray clouds, casting a dull light over the luxurious Ming estate. Purple orchids danced lightly in the morning breeze, their petals fluttering like gentle flames. Birds chirped in the distance, unbothered by the tension that hung heavily in the air.

Inside, the Ming mansion was a swirl of activity. Maids bustled about in silk uniforms, preparing for the Sung family's arrival. The air smelled faintly of jasmine tea, polished wood, and anxiety.

INT. MING FAMILY – MAIN HALL – CONTINUOUS

Lady Ming, a dignified woman in her forties with stern eyes and delicate cheekbones, stood near the grand entrance, her fingers fiddling with the golden chain of her jade pendant. Her eldest daughter, Ming Lianhua, sat poised like a porcelain doll in a rose-coloured handful, eyes calm yet calculating. She was the most beautiful of the daughters—sharp-featured, poised, and cold-hearted.

Beside her sat her younger sister, Ming Seren—a girl of 17 with soft, stormy blue eyes, long raven-black hair braided with silver threads, and a quiet aura. Unlike her elder sister, Seren was the gentle one—the forgotten one, some would say. Unremarkable in comparison, yet strangely captivating in her own way.

LADY MING(quietly, to Lianhua)Today is important. The eldest Sung boy is rumoured to be... unusual. Dangerous, even. But if you play your cards right, you will become the wife of a powerful man.

Today is important. The eldest Sung boy is rumoured to be... unusual. Dangerous, even. But if you play your cards right, you will become the wife of a powerful man.

LIANHUA(smiling coldly)Power bends to beauty. I will not disappoint.

Seren shifted uncomfortably in her seat, glancing toward the door. She had no interest in marrying anyone, especially not someone from the feared Sung family. Whispers about the young masters of the Sung clan had long haunted the city's noble girls. They were said to be cruel, cold, and cursed.

Suddenly, the sound of tires screeching outside snapped everyone's attention toward the entrance.

INT. MING FAMILY – FOYER – MOMENTS LATER

The main doors opened with a loud creak.

In walked Master Sung himself—unchanged despite the years. His presence was thunder in a quiet sky. The scar over his left brow gave him an even more chilling aura. Behind him came his three sons—all clad in black.

Sung Jaemin, the youngest, wore an air of boredom. Sung Hyun, the middle child, had a twisted grin that made the servants avert their gaze.

And then there was the eldest—Sung Ares.

He stepped forward slowly, tall, composed, dressed sharply in a black suit, a silver dragon pin on his collar. His hair was raven-dark, slightly messy, but it didn't hide his cold features—sharp jaw, pale skin, and most disturbingly... his eyes.

One was a normal shade of black. The other? Swirling violet with a hint of silver. The cursed eye.

The room fell into a thick silence as everyone turned to look at him.

Seren met his gaze by accident.

And in that one moment, something clicked. Or maybe cracked.

She felt like her breath caught. Like his eye—no, his soul—was reading her entire being. He said nothing. Not a smirk, not a nod, not even a blink. Just... looked.

Then walked away like nothing happened.

Seren blinked, her heart thudding against her chest.

INT. MING FAMILY – DINING HALL – LATER

A grand feast was laid out. The Ming daughters were seated side by side while the Sung brothers sat across them. Discussions of the marriage contract were already underway, but it was clear this was no ordinary courtship.

MASTER SUNG(as he sips his wine)Ares. Choose.

His voice was commanding. Heavy. Final.

ARES(not looking up)I'll pass for now.

Gasps echoed. Lianhua stiffened. Lady Ming frowned, visibly displeased.

MASTER SUNGYou must.

ARES(pausing, then standing)Fine.

He scanned the room once again. His eyes hovered on Lianhua… then Jaemin leaned over and whispered something to him.

Finally, Ares turned—this time fully—to Seren.

ARES(quietly, almost like a whisper)You.

Everyone froze.

Seren's eyes widened. Lianhua's fingers dug into her robes. Lady Ming almost dropped her fan.

SERENM-me?

ARESYou heard me.

And with that, he walked out. Just like that. Like it was nothing.

Lady Ming stood up sharply.

LADY MINGSeren, go after him. Now!

Seren stood hesitantly, confused and overwhelmed, but something deep inside her pulled her forward. She wasn't sure if it was fate, fear, or something more.

INT. MING GARDENS – MOMENTS LATER

She found him standing near a fountain, staring at the water's rippling surface.

SERENWhy me?

ARESYou're the only one who didn't pretend.

SERENPretend what?

ARESThat you weren't afraid of me.

Silence.

He turned to her. His cursed eye glowing faintly.

ARESYou should be.

And yet… Seren didn't run.

She took a shaky breath and said,

SERENMaybe I am. But fear isn't always a reason to leave.

For the first time, his expression faltered.

And so it began—an unchosen bond, born of a cursed boy and a forgotten girl, stitched together by fate and the scars of their pasts.
