Chapter 6 - Accio

Of course, he couldn't research too much in such a short time, but there was something quite strange: The spells described in the books only indicated how to cast them, not their principles.

For example, it taught wand movements and incantation techniques, but not a single word was mentioned about the basic principles of the spell.

"Accio Hat!" August pointed his hand at the coat rack by the door and tried to recite the [Accio spell]. August's hat wobbled, but showed no intention of moving.

"Is something wrong?" August thought, confused. His spell technique was entirely in line with the book, except for not having a wand.

However, according to the book's introduction, a wand's effect is amplification and stabilization. If your control technique is excellent, you can cast spells without a wand. Powerful wizards possess the ability to cast spells without a wand.

August prided himself on his Meditation Techniques training, far superior to the methods used by wizards in this world. Therefore, he saw no problem in casting spells directly.

"Could it be that only people from this world can use these spells?" August wondered, a little amused and exasperated.

Then, as if remembering something, he cast the spell on his hat again: "Accio Hat!"

When the incantation was pronounced, the hat shot off the coat rack and flew toward August's hand as if gravitational fields had shifted.

"I see!" August suddenly realized that his target was unclear. He only wanted the hat to fly, but he didn't have a defined target.

When he cast the spell again, he thought: "My hat, fly into my hand," and indeed, the spell succeeded as he expected.

"So, can spells from my world be used here?"

August tossed a piece of paper into the air again, and suddenly, a mysterious and familiar blue light appeared, splitting the paper in two.

"Good, it seems this world doesn't reject external things." August looked at the time. He needed to start preparing for the first contact with Newt and the others.

"Good evening, sir," Narlak, the owner of this wizarding bar, calmly approached the table where Newt and Tina were sitting. His fingers were very peculiar, bent backward.

He was a Goblin, with green skin and pointy ears like bat wings, but unlike the bank tellers August had seen, he looked more like a successful businessman, with slicked-back hair, a suit vest, and a tie, and a leather holster. Instead of a pistol, he carried a wand under each armpit.

"News travels fast." Newt looked at him briefly and then lowered his head. He didn't like dealing with Goblins because their greed could never be satisfied.

"I hope you can tell us everything you've seen or any traces you know."

"His head is worth a lot of money right now, Mr. Scamander." Narlak didn't even look at him. "Why should I help you instead of reporting you?"

Newt understood this was a price negotiation, so he took a few Galleons from his pocket and tossed them onto the table.

Narlak snorted disdainfully, took the cigar from his mouth, and cocked his head, a dismissive sneer on his lips: "MACUSA offers much more than you do."

Then Newt took a copper cylinder from his pocket and, after a brief enchantment revealing its contents, placed it on the table.

"Mooncalf?" Narlak seemed somewhat interested, but was still unsatisfied. "But I already have five."

Newt sighed, knowing it wouldn't be easy to sway this greedy Goblin, so he took out another item he had prepared: a frozen Ashwinder egg.

These eggs come from the magical creature Ashwinder. Any magical flame that burns too long will give birth to this magical creature. Its life is very short, only about an hour. During this time, they will slither into a corner of a dwelling to lay their eggs, then turn into ashes. If their eggs are not quickly frozen, they will emit intense heat, enough to set a house on fire.

These eggs are very valuable, as they are an ingredient in a potent aphrodisiac in the wizarding world and can also be eaten raw to cure diseases. Their value was the highest among the items Newt could offer.

"Listen, boy..." Narlak seemed somewhat impatient. These items were precious to ordinary wizards, but as a Goblin, what kind of treasure hadn't he seen? He wanted rare and hard-to-find treasures.

Just as he was thinking of intimidating them into bringing out their best items, he saw something green emerge from Newt's chest pocket through his glass.

"Wait, what is that...?" Narlak pointed at the small, sprout-like creature. "Is that a Bowtruckle? I've heard they can open locks, right?"

"No, you can't have him!" Newt saw Narlak's gaze and knew what he was thinking. These magical creatures were his friends, and he would never trade them.

"Come on, friend!" Narlak really wanted to obtain such a magical creature, and his intentions were clearly complicated. After all, not all locks can be opened with [Alohomora].

Seeing that Newt kept covering his chest and didn't want to respond, he threatened: "Alright, I hope you return home safely. MACUSA is looking for you everywhere, you know?"

Newt had been falsely accused of murdering Muggles and was being sought. He was trying to retrieve all the escaped magical creatures to clear his name.

Narlak tilted his head indifferently, stood up, and prepared to leave. He had barely taken two steps when he heard the sound he wished to hear, and he couldn't help but crack a triumphant smile.

"Alright." Newt was annoyed, but helpless. Now the advantage was in someone else's hands. If he had been alone, he could have escaped, but there was also a Muggle with them.

Newt painfully took out Pickett the Bowtruckle, not daring to look him in the eye. With great effort, he pulled his branch-like claws from his hand, turned his head, and handed him to Narlak.

"Sir, I think you can take that back now," August said, stepping forward with a smile, addressing Newt.

"Who are you? Don't you, sir, know that interrupting another's transaction is very rude?" Narlak was furious. The treasure he was about to get was suddenly thwarted by this unexpected stranger.

"I know there's an invisible creature active in Macy's department store, so Mr. Scamander can keep your pet. He looks very sad." August ignored the Goblin and directly communicated the information to Newt.

Pickett the Bowtruckle was very angry and turned his head away from Newt, which made Newt feel very embarrassed by what he was about to do.

August remembered that the last creatures, a Demiguise and an Occamy, were in a market. There weren't many large markets nearby. With that premise, a brief inquiry quickly led to the target.

"Macy's?" Tina said cheerfully. "It's on Fifth Avenue. I can take you."

Tina felt a little guilty at that moment. If she hadn't brought Newt along, he wouldn't have been threatened by Narlak the Goblin. When they almost handed Pickett over, even the leaves on his head had withered.

"I think you've forgotten something?"

At that moment, Narlak the Goblin reminded the happy group with a somber expression.
