Chapter 5 - Bound by flames

Azazel's POV

The thing standing in front of us wasn't just a normal dragon. It was obviously a warrior among the dragons.

It Wings were darker than midnight and it stretched across the sky, with dark smoke curling from its nostrils, and black scales like obsidian armor glinting with infernal light. Power rolled off him in suffocating waves. Nandros was already on his knees, trembling like a leaf.

"what crime did you really Commit you traitor?" I asked again,as I curled my hands into a fist and raised them ready to fight.

Azrath didn't flinch. "keep your mouth shut demon".

The Archdragon's voice boomed across the gorge. "You dare awaken him you demon" it said while looking at me, I was already done with the chitchat I just wanted to attack and tear that dragon to pieces.

Azrath's hands clenched at his sides. "I told him I will return."

I could feel the fury in him… but also the restraint. It seems like The curse was holding him back, like I was holding him back. "Let's just kill the thing already" I shouted.

"He couldn't fight at full strength without hurting you" nandros shaking voice came, turning my attention to him.

I smirked before I said." So what I am his weakness now?"

Before nandros could respond The Archdragon stepped forward, its claws cracking the ancient stone bridge beneath it.

"You were sealed for a reason," it growled. "This time, I'll burn your bones to ash myself."

Azrath smirked angrily before he turned and glare at me. "Stay close demon No matter what. If you fall, I fall. Got it?"

"Don't tell me what to do, i should be the one telling you to stay close, cause you are a barrier for me, your powers can never compare to mine you traitorous dragon" I snapped but I stepped closer anyway.

Azrath gritted his teeth angrily but before he could Respond.

The Archdragon lunged.

And a wave of divine flame blasted forward from his mouth through the air. Azrath raised his right hand, then suddenly a shield of blazing gold surrounded us, The force of the fire and shield clashing knocked me off my feet, but he caught me midair.

"Are you that weak demon" he questioned with fire evident in his eyes.

I gasped

"let go of me" I replied as I pushed him away.

Then he moved.

Azrath suddenly flew forward like a meteor, his body was covered in flame.then suddenly my entire body felt like it was on fire, it felt like my veins and blood were.being burned, I went down on my knees trying to stop the pain but it just won't stop

The Archdragon also lunged at him with swipes of his wings and fire so bright it turned the world white.

I watched from the edge of the battle, useless, I couldn't do anything The bond burned inside me,. My chest ached. My skin burning when he caught fire.

We were one.

And the bond was killing me.

~

Azrath's POV

I could feel her pain.

And it was getting worse. The longer we fought, the more the bond tightened like chains forged from the gods themselves.

But I couldn't hold back.

Cause if I do now we will both end up dead.

I glanced at her and her nose was bleeding "fuck" I muttered as I let the flames die down.

The Archdragon took advantage of that and struck me with a tail like steel. I slammed into the cliff wall and roared in rage. Blood my blood hit the stones in golden splatters. And Azazel collapsed with a scream.

Damn this curse. Damn my brother. Damn this demon girl who has no idea how much she will be the doom of us both.

I pushed off the wall, and allowed the flames to roar to life around my fists. I needed to end this. Fast.

If not we will both die.

I closed my eyes and called on something deeper older. A fire I had buried even from myself.

Chaosfire.

My birthright. My damnation.

The flames turned black with red veins, burning hotter than anything natural.

My hair was covered in flames as it light the entire gorge.

The Archdragon stepped back, sensing I am about to kill it.

"This power… !" before he could continue speaking.

I struck.

And The sky split open with the force of it.

And when the light died down…

The Archdragon was on its knees.

Barely breathing.

Its wings torn.

I stood over him while I let the flames die down.

He turned to his human form and immediately bowed down in front of me.

"I only allowed you to live so you can deliver a message to Xykalis".

"Tell my brother," I said, my voice low, " THE KING IS BACK, I'm coming for him. And this time, I won't leave survivors."

The dragon nodded before I turned and walked to Azazel's direction,I myself was just pushing myself to walk, I was also already bleeding and my veins feels like it's on fire, that's probably the pain she is feeling.

~

Azazel's POV

I was shaking, on my knees, sweat and blood dripping from my chin.

Azrath approached slowly, the ground was smoking beneath his feet. "You are a monster" I whispered, A beautiful, terrifying monster. And I was tied to him.

"What was that huh, you wanted to kill me didn't you?" I asked,

He didn't answer.

Instead, he knelt in front of me.

his eyes filled with anger, hatred and disgust.

He sighed heavily as if trying to control himself before he reached for my arm, his touch unexpectedly gentle. "I told you to stay close demon."

"You almost killed both of us," I snapped.

His gaze met mine, his eyes burning with fury

"You mean I am the reason we are both still alive"

We were enemies. Cursed. Trapped. And all of us just want to see the other dead, so I don't really believe he didn't want to hurt me, he himself was bleeding but it must be from the fight, caused he looked okay.

"Let's move," he said finally, standing. "Others will be coming soon."

I nodded slowly not wanting to experience this kind of pain again.

Azrath isn't just any traitor dragon, there is more to this, he is hiding something.

And I wasn't sure anymore if I wanted to find out what it was.
