Chapter 5 - Mystical

‎"Don't you think you are worrying to much?" He asked as I felt his presence behind me.

‎"it's nothing, just wondering when we will be able to go back." I shrugged with a forced smile.

‎"None of this was your fault, okay." He sat beside me. "You just need to be strong...at least for him."

‎His last four words seemed to be stressed and carried some deep meanings and emotions that I couldn't quite understand.

‎I sighed deeply and narrowed my eyes across the environment. We were at the far even of the woods which meant that we were already out of Cridwan.

‎I sighed again, just wishing and hoping that it could all come to an end.

‎The pain...

‎The sorrow...

‎And most importantly, the misunderstanding.

‎Although I was well aware that Liam cared not whether he was called an Immortal or not, I just still couldn't shake off the feeling that something tragic was about to unfold any moment from now.

‎"We can leave by sunset if you want.." Karl said as he watched me closely.

‎"it's okay, I think we just wait for one more day before heading back " I replied and stood up from the log I sat on. "I'll head to the scream for a bath." I continued as I walked straight off without waiting for his reply.

‎"Be safe.." He yelled out.

‎"I will.."

‎The stream was a bit of a far distance from the spot we built our tent on and it's beauty was indeed breathtaking with a little waterfall, not dangerous looking but honestly breathtaking.

‎I could remember how I used to come to this very stream every sunset with Liam when we were just kids and the moments seemed to forever lay in my heart.

‎I glanced into the stream to see my reflection in it and then I cupped some water with both of my palm put together and rinsed my face gently with the cool and fresh water.

The next minute I opened my eyes and looked into the water I didn't see my reflection but….that of Liams'.

This shocked me deeply and I moved two steps back and turned around to see nobody behind me, so I looked into the water again and still I saw his reflection.

His stunning blue eyes were fixed on me from the water as though he was trying to see through me. As cold and sinister his expression was, it still felt rather charming and annoying at the same time.

I ignored his reflection and continued to rinse my body part by part as I didn't dare to take off my clothes in case Liam was indeed pulling tricks on me.

After that I heard the sounds of the talking monkey, one of the mystical beings in the woods.

"Look who we have here…" it said.

"You are that girl with the general's son all the time, right?" It annoyingly asked.

I ignored it but it just kept following behind me taking blah….blah.

"You know, beings like I do not appreciate being ignored.." it paused, but continued to follow behind me.

"But I'm aware of what will attract your attention." It's words did grab my attention and I turned angrily towards it.

"What do you want brown monkey…?"

"Don't you want to know about the grey head kid..?" With it's words I realized that it was referring to Liam.

"What about him?" I paid more attention.

"He left something for you.." it said and ran up to a tree..

"Hey, come back!" I began to chase after it because it seemed like it was running away from me as it swinged with it's tail and limbs up on different trees.

It giggled as it continued to play mind games for ith me and I just had to change into my wolf self to be able to chase after him faster.

"Chase after me if you can, little wolf." It laughed out and I increased my speed after it.

It stopped on a tree and I did the same.

"Tell me exactly what you meant before." I demanded furiously as I do badly hated suspense.

"Or else what? Little wolf, or shall I say witch wolf." It chuckled again.

"Or else, I will chop off your little head, monkey!" I said and dramatically licked my mouth and revealed my large teeth.

"You wolves are just like the demons." He said and moved into a hole in the tree.

"Hey, come back out..you haven't explained to me yet. What the hell did you mean?" I questioned as I tried hard to climb onto the tall tree.

"Can't even climb a tree but you threaten to eat me?" It scoffed as it climbed out of the hole with a piece of leather in his hand.

It tossed it to me, but it landed on my nose before hitting the ground.

I picked it up and saw that it was sealed tightly with Liam's signature on the bottom.

My anticipation and curiosity grew..

I wondered what was inside so I tore of the seal and a letter was revealed.

"It must be a love letter, stating his intense love for you.." The monkey said as it balanced itself on the tree as it watched me from above.

I sneered at it with an eye roll and began to read the contents of the letter.

It read,

'I have found out that you were not exactly the one at fault, but what it doesn't mean is that I will not because of your accept the title. So I'm out now, far out of Cridwan and I hope you receive this letter soon.'

It ended, and I realized that Liam really stood by his words and this annoyed me deeply, but I couldn't say anything to change it, not even a simple advice to Liam would stop him.

And these would be the last words I would hear of him..

I sighed and tilted my head up to gaze at the annoyingly smiling monkey.

"Was it a rejection letter? Oh.. I thought it would be a love letter. Hmph…how sad.." it's words were annoying and killing me beneath my composed posture.

I so badly had the urge to punch the filthy monkey in its small brown face.

A bear was indeed better than it and I would have loved it's company.

I hissed slightly and turned again to leave.

"Hey..are you leaving?" it suddenly jumped on to my back as I walked off.

I shook it off my back but it managed to climb up again.

"Yeah I'm leaving, and so what?" I asked, obviously agitated by it's annoying questions.

"I think I have a clue of what's going on, and I'm not that such of an annoying monkey that you believe I am." It said with a less playful tone and smile.

"Okay, but how can I trust you?." I asked. Not really caring whether or not I did.

"I'm a mystical monkey. I'm quite rare.." it said.

I recalled that I had read so much about mystical beings and some monkeys were included but I had never send a monkey like this in the illustrations shown in the books at the library.

This monkey was quite smaller and more playful just like a regular monkey, but it's features..

They were breathtakingly different.

Deep blue eyes, round face and big eyes, a brown skin with a grey nose and a little grey hair on its head.

It was indeed mystical and a lot different from regular monkeys or the other mystical monkeys I had read in history books at the academy.
