"NO!" Valeigh yelled.
The hall fell into silence and the Ministers gave her a quizzical look.
"You know you can't return home, Valeigh—Your silly mate is married to your sister."
"I see you did your research on me."
"You're very simple. I can't believe you thought he was serious with you."
Valeigh sighed and turned to the Ministers, "I meant no, don't bow to me. Only the Alpha is entitled to it."
"Leave all of you. Spread the news of what you saw. Those people who have been secretly planning to give me a mate, drop that stupid plan now. The door is wide open, leave."
They scrambled out of the hall, leaving just three people behind—she, Alpha Ezekiel and Ian.
"You want me to pretend to be your mate, why?"
"I don't believe in fated mates. I go for who I have an interest in."
"So do you have an interest in me?"
"You're the one who came to me."
Valeigh sighed and sat down beside him.
"I need your help, Alpha Ezekiel."
He raised his brows and rubbed his temples.
"You want revenge."
"How do you know?"
"It's in your eyes—so deep," he chuckled, "you look like you want to make them pay for treating you badly."
"I want to make them suffer and wallow in misery. I want to see anguish in their eyes. I want them to kneel before me and beg."
He gave her a pat on the head, "Then be my fake mate."
"Do you promise to help me?"
He brought a knife to his palms, giving himself a cut.
Blood dripped from his palms to hers. He smirked at her.
"As long as you're my mate, you have authority behind you. You become power."
"Deal." Valeigh whispered, slashing her palms too with the knife, their blood mixing together.
Ezekiel poured her a glass of wine and handed it to her.
"Don't you think I should hear the story of how you met that moron?"
She sighed and choked on a sob, "I met Ryker at a function organized by my father. He had thrown a feast to honour his warriors for annihilating a pack of rogues. Thus, all eligible females and males were invited. At the feast, I was looked down upon by everyone because I was an omega.
He was an Alpha Prince and I was an omega—our romance was forbidden. He still sat with me despite my identity and we spent the evening together, drinking, talking, laughing, dancing and smiling.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, our forbidden love blossomed. We could no longer hide the truth from anyone so I told Ryker to announce his intention to be with me to the Alpha. Alpha Caden said nothing, but took a sip from his goblet of wine.
Alexa was above cloud nine when she knew that I had gotten a mate, and a very handsome one. She promised to always help me with her dresses and makeup if I ever wanted to visit Ryker. I was foolish to have trusted her, thinking she was genuinely happy for me. They betrayed me, Ryker broke our , they got married, everyone but me was happy."
Ezekiel gave her shoulder a light pat, "You're here now. Do my bidding and I'll get you the revenge you seek."
Valeigh raised her brows slightly and shrugged. His hands snaked on her waist and he pulled her chin closer.
"Hope you're a good kisser?"
"Hmm? The heck?"
A sick smirk bounced on his face, giving him a devilish look.
"Well, we have to show affection in public, right?"
"Yeah," She murmured, "unfortunately."
He stood up and glanced at her, stretching his palms towards her, "Let's go. I wanna introduce you to people."
----
Valeigh watched as eyes stared at her with jealousy, admiration, surprise and envy. Of course she was holding hands with their gorgeous and handsome Alpha!
She's the one?
Unbelievable!
Our Luna? An omega—that's impossible!
The Prophecy won'tlie, right?
"Prophecy? What prophecy?" Valeigh muttered, her eyes on their clasped palms.
Ezekiel was holding tight to her right hand.
"You can leave my hands now." Valeigh pulled her hands away immediately as they approached a lonely hallway.
"Were you uncomfortable being called my girlfriend?"
"Yeah, I thought it was a little cringe."
"Same here." He shrugged, drinking from his water bottle.
They stopped in front of a house and soldiers and court ladies rushed out, bowing before them.
"Greetings, Alpha!"
He ignored them and walked into the building, Valeigh behind him. The door opened and he walked in, taking a seat on the most regal one. Valeigh sat down on another seat in the opposite direction.
The door opened and a young woman, dressed in a golden dress with her hair styled in a high braid sashayed in.
She had bright skin, green eyes, long flowing auburn hair and a very slender shape. A smile threatening to tear her chin enveloped her face.
"My Alpha!" She squealed.
Ezekiel gave her a lazy look and she walked slowly to him, sitting on his laps, kissing his jawline and tracing her fingers on his chest. Valeigh felt like throwing up.
Such a brazen showoff of intimacy!
She mused to herself and propped up on her seat, gulping down the wine served by the court ladies. The woman turned to her and a glare scrunched up her face, making her look like a vixen.
"My Alpha, who is she?"
"My chosen Luna."
Her eyes widened and she spat out the words quickly, "An omega? That's against the rules."
"Since when do I follow rules? Even if I ever followed rules, yours?" He scoffed, pushing her away from his body, "You should know your place, Kora."
Valeigh shook her head slightly. Why do they always look down on Omegas? She wondered.
"Greetings, Alpha Queen!" the Court ladies chorused.
"Alpha Queen." He muttered, eyes resting on a middle aged woman who was coming into the hall, her footsteps like a Queen's.
Her eyes tingled with joy when she stared at him. She moved her gaze to Valeigh and her face fell instantly.
"So the rumours were true," She sneered, "You brought in a lowly omega to play Luna?"
"She isn't a lowly woman. She is my Luna. Accept it or leave it. By the way," He stormed to the door, "her name is Lady Leigh."
The temperature of the room dropped and Valeigh stared at their pissed off, stony faces. She immediately knew she had gotten two enemies in the Silver Crescent Pack.
