Chapter 20 - Embarking on a Civilization War

 Name: Giant Lizard Star

 Code: S360E

 Classification: Planet

 Mass: 12.6479×102? kg

 Diameter: Not specified

 Surface Temperature: 19°C

Rotation Period: 35 hours, 12 minutes, and 9 seconds

 Sentient Life: Giant Lizards

After dispatching a probe ship, basic information about the planet was transmitted back.

"Why does it have a name?"

[Planets with civilizations are granted names. This planet has a primitive-level giant lizard civilization.]

"Giant lizards?" Damian reviewed the footage sent from the front lines. These were enormous lizard creatures, averaging over ten meters in length, living in tribal formations. It was precisely because of these tribes and their simple, lizard-specific written language that they were classified as a civilization.

[The planet is rich in supernatural energy, indicating its civilization is not to be trifled with.]

Damian asked, "Are giant lizards considered 'supernatural' or 'star beasts'?"

[Any classification as a civilization is treated as 'supernatural,' not star beasts.]

"So we're facing a supernatural civilization?"

 [A lowest-tier supernatural civilization, approximately 0.2 level.]

"Pitiful, not even Level 1? What about us?"

 [We are 0.3 level.]

"Fair enough, we're equally mismatched. Begin scanning the entire planet to assess the strength and numbers of the giant lizard civilization."

The train docked in the stellar orbit, becoming the celestial body closest to the star. The system was pristine, with twenty planets, Giant Lizard Star positioned on the fourth orbit. Nearly every planet held ample resources. Damian dispatched all ships to collect resources, prioritizing immediate needs.

Guilds had already prepared to rent ships, with top ones planning to lease two medium freighters.

"Why aren't the open yet?" Weapons were purchased, but to maximize rental time, they'd wait for the doors to open. Even an extra minute counted.

The delay stemmed from the overwhelming data beamed from Giant Lizard Star, which Damian meticulously organized.

"Thirty thousand tribes, over five million individuals. Most are small lizards, but even the smallest are human-sized. This isn't Green Star; I fear significant passenger losses.** Right now, no new passengers could offset such losses, which would cripple the train's growth.

 [Suggested: Initiate a civilization war.]

 "What's that?"

[To upgrade the train to Bronze Two Star, three conditions must be met:]

[1. All passengers must awaken as supernatural entities, with at least one hundred thousand reaching Tier Two.]

[2. The train's war capabilities must be rated first-class, requiring diverse kinetic weapons and at least fifty guard-class warships.]

[3. Participate in and win at least one civilization war, including inter-train conflicts.]

Damian pondered. "So war is inevitable. How do we initiate a civilization war?"

[Issue a war task to passengers, offer unlimited weapons in the market at reduced prices, temporarily suspend guild loan quotas, and if necessary, deploy warships or robots directly.]

 "Understood. Let's do it—initiate a civilization war."

[Please select war mode: Raiding, Conquest, or Annihilation.]

"I get it. Raiding is hit-and-run for resources. Conquest is occupation and enslavement. Annihilation is total war. Which should I choose?"

[Annihilation is recommended. The giant lizards' low intelligence but high combat power makes enslavement risky. Eliminate the threat completely.]

Damian agreed with the suggestion. Enslavement required two prerequisites: overwhelming strength and communication. Lacking both, total destruction was safer.

Outside the airlock, countless guilds eagerly awaited.

"Been stuck on this train for half a month. I need to hunt star beasts—gotta vent!"

"I owe the train three hundred star coins. If we don't stop soon, I'm screwed!"

"Hey, why are those warships departing?"

Everyone knew the train had warships, but rarely used them. This time, over ten warships exited, flanked by scouts—a formidable fleet. As speculation grew, the train issued notifications:

[Target planet: Giant Lizard Star. Basic info sent to all wrist devices. The conductor declares war on its civilization; passengers may participate at will.]

[During the war, all recreational zones close.]

[New weapons available in the market: prices reduced by 20%, unlimited supply.]

[All passenger/guild loan quotas temporarily suspended.]

[Ship rental costs halved; major guilds encouraged to lease large freighters.]

[War tasks posted; check your devices.]

Chaos erupted. Passengers frantically checked their tasks.

[Main Task: Annihilate the giant lizard civilization. Criteria: Destroy all tribes, kill 90% of lizards. Success rewards participating guilds with shared millions in star coins, plus a growing prize pool.]

"Holy shit! Millions, and that's just the base?"

"These 'lizards' are walking ATMs! Let's finish them!"

 "Yeah, let's rush—I can't wait!"

 "Hold up, there's side quests!"

[Side Task 1: Giant Lizard Star has thirty thousand tribes, ranked by strength. All guilds must take one task, no overlaps. Prohibits multiple or repeated targets. Rewards vary by completion. Note: Top ten tribes allow multiple guilds; big guilds may mentor smaller ones.]

[Side Task 2: Elite tribes house Tier Two supernaturals. Killing them grants solo rewards.]

[Side Task 3: Sell giant lizard corpses to the train; unlimited buyback.]

[Side Task 4: Gather intel on the lizard civilization—writings, habits, records, etc. Rewards based on significance.]

Numerous routine tasks existed, but no one cared—they scrambled for war tasks.

"You guys are fast—every tribe ranked below 30k is gone?"** Smaller guilds snatched easy targets, while major ones targeted the top hundred.

"Lilith, should we take on the top ten?"

Lilith shook her head. "Don't rush. There are endless tribes but not enough guilds. The first wave can't cover all tasks. We'll finish one, then grab another. Let's test their strength first."

Wilson thumbs-upped: "Lilith, you're the boss!"

Then someone shouted: "The market's flooded with new gear! Let's go shopping!" Guilds rushed to the market—or the bank first. With loan quotas suspended, many gambled everything.
