Synopsis
My back slammed against the wall. The silver dagger slipped through my fingers and my hands was suddenly pinned above my head. Alpha Mätruvax of the Night pack. His claw was around my neck, one sharp talon pressing dangerously into my skin. His red eyes glared at me. He was far more dangerous than I'd thought. I had trained for this and yet i wasn't ready. “This vein right here…..” he trailed off, tracing it with the tip of his claws. “One little push into your skin and you'll bleed out before the night ends.” There was no warmth in his voice. “Now speak,” he growled. “Who sent you here to kill me?”

Chapter 1 - Prologue

Prologue

"Push..... Push Txälina."

The room smelled of blood and sweat. I screamed as pain shot through my belly.

"Ahh!" My fingers dug at the linen of the bed. Fire tore through my core and then i collapsed onto the bed.

A wet gurgling cry filled the room.

Tears streamed down my cheeks as they lifted the tiny little form from between my legs. He was covered with blood.

"It's a boy," the midwife said and the smile on my face fell. A boy..... A boy. I know what that means.

I reached out to hold my baby but the door opened.

"My son," i said staring at the two the males that walked into the room.

Instead of handing me by babe, a servant came forward with a small cup filled with liquid.

"No...." I cried out.

The servants pressed the cup at my lips. Strong hands pinned me down. I was too weak to resist. They forced the bitter liquid down my throat. I choked, swallowed some and spat out the rest. My vision began to blur.

"Säli nuxi na."

May the goddess bless you.

The midwives handed my son to the man and he turned around.

Anger and panic rose, kicking out the pain i felt. I rose from the bed, staggering to the door. I barely felt the pain from the labour. The midwives grabbed me. I tried to resist but my body won't move.

"It's futile," they murmured.

My body became numb and heavy.

"No.... No," i whispered fighting back the dizziness sweeping through me.

But it was to no use. I felt no pain as my eyelids shut and i simply fell asleep.
