Chapter 4 - Dinner at the Cooper's House

Alex looked at the two children he had seen on the TV series and felt a little excited.

Missy was the first to step forward and raised her hand for a handshake.

"My name is Missy Cooper. You can just call me Missy!"

She spoke very politely, with a smile. If Alex didn't know her personality from the TV series, he would believe she was a very kind and well-mannered girl.

Stretching out his hand, he gently shook her little hand and responded politely, with a smile:

"Missy is a very beautiful name. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Hearing the handsome boy say her name was beautiful, Missy felt very happy.

Alex didn't pay much attention to her reaction. After separating their hands, he extended his hand toward Sheldon, who was standing nearby.

"And you are?" – he asked, with his hand extended.

Even though he knew Sheldon didn't like handshakes, Alex pretended not to know and looked at him with a smile.

Sheldon, standing to the side, looked at Alex's hand with no intention of shaking it and said:

"My name is Sheldon Lee Cooper. And I'm not going to shake your germ-filled hands."

Mary, seeing her son act peculiarly in front of others, felt a bit embarrassed.

"Sheldon... I'll remember that." – Alex said.

He didn't say much, just withdrew his hand and stepped back a little, moving closer to his mother.

"My son is a little special. Did you know he's very intelligent?" – Mary tried to ease the situation.

Sheldon, hearing his mother, lifted his head proudly, while Missy simply rolled her eyes at the situation.

Melinda and Pastor Jeff just ignored the moment and changed the subject.

"Well, I need to talk to other church members. See you another time." – said Pastor Jeff, taking the opportunity to escape.

Leaving only the two women with their children, who looked at each other awkwardly.

After the service, Alex returned home and went straight to his room. Tonight, he and his parents were going to have dinner at the Cooper family's house.

But what surprised Alex was discovering that the Cooper family lived only five houses away from his own, meaning he had moved to the same street where Sheldon lived.

"Today was a fun day. I'd better study a little." – Alex murmured.

At night, Alex and his parents headed to the Cooper's house. His study session had been very productive.

Compared to yesterday, he felt that his learning ability had doubled. Although his memory was improving, it seemed to be approaching eidetic memory.

Today, he found some college books that probably belonged to his parents. When he opened an advanced math book, he realized it was somewhat difficult, but he could still understand it.

If it were yesterday, he wouldn't have understood any of those formulas. The questions from the previous day had now become much simpler.

He didn't understand why he was getting smarter, but he hoped it would continue. He was discovering that learning was something very enjoyable.

Soon, he and his parents arrived at the Cooper's house. His father, Jonas, stood silently to the side, while Melinda knocked on the door.

After knocking, a female voice came from inside the house:

"One moment, please."

Hearing this, Melinda stepped back, looked at her husband and son, and spoke in a warning tone:

"You two behave yourselves, do you hear me? Don't embarrass me at my friend's house."

Father and son exchanged glances and responded in unison:

"You're the boss!" – Jonas. "Yes, ma'am." – Alex.

All of this happened in less than half a minute. Then, the sound of the door opening made everyone fall silent.

When the door opened, Mary and her husband, George, appeared.
