Location: JD Sector 8 – City Hospital
Scene: Outside the Operation Theater
Doctor Younwo finished explaining everything to Revin and left to begin the operation preparations. Revin stood there anxiously. A nurse approached with a clipboard and asked him to sign some documents.
Without reading them, Revin immediately signed the papers and began silently praying for his sister's life.
Moments later, Lyra's operation began. Revin sat outside the operation room, crying and praying with all his heart.
After a while, the operation stopped, and Doctor Younwo came outside.
Revin (rushing to him): "Doctor, how is my sister? Is she okay now?"
Doctor Younwo (calmly): "Your sister is out of danger now. She's being shifted to the ward. She'll regain consciousness soon — you can go meet her then."
Revin (with tears of joy): "Thank you so much, Doctor… You saved my sister's life. If it weren't for you, I don't know what would've happened. I'll never forget this favor. If you ever need anything from me, please don't hesitate. I'll always be ready to help you. Thank you... from the bottom of my heart."
Doctor Younwo (smiling gently): "There's no need for all that. As doctors, it's our duty to treat people. The rest is in God's hands. You don't owe me anything — but if you had delayed a little longer, maybe even I wouldn't have been able to save her. Anyway, once she's awake, you can go see her."
Saying this, the doctor left.
A little while later, Lyra was shifted to the ward. Revin sat by her bedside, watching her quietly. Slowly, Lyra opened her eyes.
Lyra (weakly, in a soft voice): "Brother… I want roasted chicken…"
Revin (smiling through his tears): "Of course. I'll get you as much roasted chicken as you want."
Saying this, Revin gently hugged his sister close.
Lyra (innocently): "What happened, brother? Why are you crying? Did something go wrong?"
Revin (wiping his tears, smiling): "Me? Crying? No, no. I'm just… happy."
He gave her a big smile, and Lyra smiled back just as sweetly.
The two laughed and talked for a long time. As they chatted, Lyra slowly drifted back to sleep.
Revin gently stroked her head and held her hand, staying by her side the entire night.
---
Next Morning – 8:00 AM
Lyra woke up to see her brother sleeping beside her, his head resting on the edge of her bed, still holding her hand.
She woke him up gently.
Revin opened his eyes and saw Lyra sitting with her cheeks puffed and arms crossed.
Revin (grinning): "What's wrong, my sweet little sister? Are you mad at me? But why? What did I do?"
Lyra (pouting): "You're a bad brother."
Revin (confused): "Why though?"
Lyra: "Why were you sleeping like that? You could've just slept beside me comfortably."
Revin (teasing): "You silly girl. I wasn't sleeping, I was just… resting a little, that's all."
Lyra (smirking): "Liar. Anyway, brother… when are we going home?"
Revin: "Let me ask the doctor. You stay here, okay?"
Revin left the ward to find Doctor Younwo. After some searching, he found him checking up on another patient.
Revin quickly approached.
Revin: "Hello Doctor, I just wanted to ask — when can I take my sister home?"
Doctor Younwo: "Ah, yes. Do one thing — get all her tests done again and show me the reports. I'll tell you then."
Revin immediately got to work, running all the necessary check-ups for Lyra.
Shortly after, he returned to the doctor with all the reports.
Doctor Younwo carefully reviewed each one, then spoke:
Doctor Younwo (nodding): "Hmm. Your sister's condition is much better now. If she rests a bit more, she'll improve even further. She'll likely be ready for discharge in 2 or 3 days."
Then, suddenly, the doctor's tone turned serious.
Doctor Younwo (firmly): "But keep one thing in mind — she's not fully healed yet. You must get her complete treatment done as soon as possible. Otherwise… it could get worse over time."
Hearing the doctor's serious warning, Revin immediately became anxious. He quickly responded:
Revin: "Yes, Doctor. I'll take care of it."
Then Revin started walking back toward his sister's ward, but his mind was still echoing with the doctor's words. The thought of her not being completely healed yet… it made him break out in sweat. By the time he reached Lyra's ward, his forehead was drenched.
Lyra (concerned): "Brother, why are you sweating so much? And what did the doctor say — when can we go home?"
But Revin was too lost in thought, overwhelmed by worry.
Lyra (more concerned): "What's wrong, Brother?"
Revin (snapping out of it): "Huh… What?"
Lyra: "What did the doctor say? When can we go home?"
Revin (forcing a smile): "He said we can go home soon. But for now, you still need rest. You'll be allowed to relax here a bit longer."
Saying this, Revin stepped out of the room again, now thinking to himself:
> "I need to arrange for her treatment as soon as possible… but how will I gather that much money?"
Worried and deep in thought, he walked out onto the street, trying to figure out a way.
A short distance ahead, a hunter team was standing outside an apartment building, waiting for one of their teammates.
Suddenly, a thought struck Revin:
> "I've heard that you can find Uni Crystals in dungeons… and they sell for a lot. Even the smallest crystal is worth 50,000 won. If I can just find a few of those, I might be able to pay for Lyra's treatment. But would they even let me join? I'm not a hunter. Still… maybe there's a chance. I'll take the risk — whatever happens, happens."
Making up his mind, Revin ran toward the hunter team.
All of them turned to look at him as he approached.
Revin (catching his breath): "Are you guys heading into a dungeon? If yes, can I join you?"
The hunters looked at each other, surprised — almost like a lifeline had just dropped in their lap.
One of them stepped forward.
Hunter: "If you don't mind me asking, can you tell us your rank?"
Revin: "I don't have a rank. I'm not a hunter."
All the hunters were stunned.
Hunter (raising an eyebrow): "Even registered hunters hesitate to enter dungeons… and you want to go in as a normal human? Why? Care to explain?"
Revin took a deep breath and told them everything — about Lyra, her operation, the money, and his desperation.
Revin: "I know I'm not a hunter. But I'm sure this is the only way I can earn money quickly enough to save my sister. Please… let me join your team."
Hearing this, several of the hunters started tearing up. One of them, who had been standing quietly until now, stepped forward and calmed the others.
Then the team huddled together to discuss.
> "Should we really take him? Is it safe? What if he gets hurt?"
The discussion went on for several minutes.
Meanwhile, Revin stood quietly, nervous and discouraged.
> "Maybe I should've known… They won't take me. I'm just a burden — a normal guy would only slow them down or get someone hurt."
With a heavy heart, he slowly turned away to leave.
Just then, the discussion ended, and the same hunter who had earlier calmed the team walked over, placed his hand on Revin's shoulder, and said:
Hunter: "Hey, kid."
Revin turned around, surprised. "Y-Yes?"
The hunter looked at him for a moment, then nodded.
Hunter (softly): "Alright… we'll take you with us."
Then suddenly his expression changed — tears welled up in his eyes and he began crying loudly.
Hunter: "You got us all emotional, man. Don't worry — we'll help you. We're with you!"
Hearing that, the whole team cheered up and started laughing and patting Revin on the back.
The entire team began introducing themselves. There were five boys and two girls.
The first to speak was a boy with white hair and blue eyes, holding a magical staff in his hand.
Boy 1: "Hello, my name is Jimi, and I'm a C-rank magician."
Next was a tall, muscular guy — around 6'5" — with black skin and a large shield in his hand, looking like a walking wall.
Boy 2: "Hello, I'm Rook, a C-rank tanker."
Then came a well-built man with brown hair, glowing skin, wearing heavy armor and carrying a large sword.
Boy 3: "My name is Kim, and I'm a C-rank warrior."
The fourth was a slim, calm-looking guy with a serious expression and a bow and quiver slung over his back.
Boy 4: "Hello, I'm Piter, a C-rank archer."
Then the first girl stepped forward — short, very pretty, with golden hair and green eyes, holding a staff.
Girl 1: "Hi, I'm Emril, but you can call me Ema if you like. I'm also a C-rank magician."
The second girl had black hair and striking purple eyes.
Girl 2: "Hello, my name is Janifer, and I'm a B-rank healer."
Finally, a handsome and charming guy stepped forward — his body clad in heavy armor, clearly their leader.
Boy 5: "Hello, I'm Emroad, the leader of this team. I'm also a C-rank warrior.
Our team is called Everner, and one day we plan to turn this team into a full-fledged guild."
Revin: "O-oh… Hello, I'm Revin."
Emroad (smiling): "So Revin, this will be your first raid. Don't worry at all — we'll take good care of you.
You're just coming along as support, so you won't need to do much. Just help us carry our gear and stay behind us.
You don't have to fight or do anything dangerous. You're just a normal person, and you won't be able to handle even a light hit from a monster — understood?
It's best you stick behind us. Anyway, we're all C-rank, and the dungeon is just D-rank, so there won't be any major problems.
Still, be cautious, okay?"
After that, the whole team warmly welcomed Revin.
Just then, Emroad called out to Revin again.
Emroad: "Wait! We forgot the most important thing — the contract."
Revin (confused): "Contract?"
Emroad: "Yes. All hunters make contracts with new team members. It outlines the rules —
how much you'll be paid, your share of the loot, and so on, so that no disputes happen later."
Revin looked at the contract. It stated that he would receive 200,000 won just for joining the raid,
and he would get 15% of the loot money, based on the total distribution.
Reading this, Revin became emotional. With teary eyes, he looked at everyone — they all gave him warm, supportive smiles.
Emroad (smiling): "This is the least I can do, brother."
Revin, overwhelmed with emotion, hugged Emroad tightly.
Emroad (laughing): "That's enough, bro. When we return, you'll introduce us to your sister, alright?"
Revin: "Yes… of course."
After that, the whole team, along with Revin, set off toward the dungeon location.
---
Location: Jonsu High School
The Everner Team and Revin arrived at their assigned raid site — Jonsu High School.
At the gate stood a Hunter Association official named Unsan, checking IDs. Emroad approached him and showed his Hunter Card, and the team was allowed inside.
As they walked in, Revin began to feel nervous — his chest tightened, and fear crept in.
Suddenly, a hand reached out and rested on his shoulder — it was Rook.
Rook (gently): "Don't worry, man. We're all with you. No matter what happens, we'll make sure you return to your sister safe and sound. Okay?"
Revin (softly): "Thank you… so much."
The entire team then gathered in front of the dungeon gate.
Emroad: "Everyone ready? Let's head inside."
The whole team entered the dungeon.
---
Revin (looking around, scared):
"So this… this is what it looks like inside a dungeon?
It feels just like a dark cave…
And the air… it's so heavy…"
Suddenly, Emroad and the team sensed a monster presence. All of them instantly went into alert mode, forming a battle formation — with Revin protected in the middle.
Jimi (calmly):
"Revin, don't be scared.
Just watch us… and learn."
Suddenly, a lizard-type monster attacked from the shadows.
The whole team maintained their formation and immediately launched a counterattack.
Rook was the first to engage, blocking the charging monster with his massive shield.
Jimi and Emril followed by casting frost magic, freezing multiple monsters in place.
Then, Emroad and Kim rushed in with their swords, shattering the frozen monsters and swiftly killing them.
But more monsters started emerging from behind.
Piter immediately loaded his bow, and with precise aim, fired an arrow that pierced the chest of one monster, passed through it, and embedded itself in the second monster, killing both at once.
After the skirmish, everyone took a sigh of relief.
Jimi (to Revin):
"So? How are you feeling, Revin?"
But Revin was sitting off to the side, vomiting.
Emroad:
"Revin, it's going to take you some time to adapt to all this… but you'll get there."
Emril:
"Revin, are you okay?"
Revin:
"Y-Yeah, I'm okay… Sorry. Because of me, you guys are facing unnecessary trouble."
The entire team responded together:
Everyone:
"Don't say that. Bringing you along was our choice, not your fault. Don't blame yourself, alright?"
After a short rest, the team continued deeper into the dungeon.
Along the way, Emroad's team stayed alert and killed every monster they encountered, working together smoothly.
Whenever someone was injured, Janifer healed them instantly.
They cleared the dungeon corridors and eventually reached a large gate.
Everyone looked up at it and spoke:
"This must be the boss monster's room."
But right beside that gate, they noticed another path, leading deeper into the dungeon.
Everyone grew quiet, lost in thought, their faces serious.
Seeing this, Revin asked Rook:
Revin:
"What's wrong? Why does everyone look so tense?"
Rook (pointing):
"Do you see this second path near the gate? This only happens in double dungeons.
If this really is one… then we might be in serious trouble."
Revin:
"Double dungeon?"
Rook:
"Yes. In a double dungeon, there are usually two gates — one leading to the boss, and one leading even deeper to a second dungeon.
The difficulty of the second dungeon can vary.
So far, every double dungeon discovered had weaker enemies inside…
But there's no rule that says they always will be weak. It's possible that stronger monsters could appear too.
However… the rewards inside a double dungeon are usually extremely valuable."
Emroad (in a serious tone):
"Hm… So what should we do?
Should we inform the Hunter Association, or… should we go inside and clear it ourselves?"
After a moment of discussion, the team decided to explore the second gate.
They asked Revin for his opinion, and Revin nodded in agreement.
Emroad (worried):
"Listen Revin… if things get dangerous in there, focus on saving your own life.
If you get the chance — run. Anything could be waiting for us inside, understand?"
Revin took a deep breath and nodded silently.
The group entered the second gate.
---
Inside… they were met with total darkness.
Nothing but pitch black.
They kept walking until they crossed fully through the gate.
And the moment they did, the gate slammed shut behind them, and torches on the walls lit up automatically.
Standing ahead was a High Orc, watching them, grinning.
He looked like he had been waiting for humans to arrive.
Seeing the High Orc smile, everyone froze.
Their eyes widened in terror.
It felt like their souls had been sucked out.
They were all C-rank hunters… and in front of them stood a powerful A-rank monster.
Fighting something like this was unthinkable — not even in their wildest dreams had they imagined facing such a foe.
Everyone turned to Revin.
Team:
"Revin… we have one more mission for you.
We'll get you out of here — and your job is to go outside immediately and tell the man standing at the entrance:
This D-rank dungeon is actually a Double Dungeon, and it contains A-rank monsters.
Tell them to send a **backup team as fast as possible. Got it?""
Revin (voice trembling):
"But… what about you all?"
Emroad:
"Don't worry about us.
You focus on saving yourself. I'm the one who brought you here — so now your life is my responsibility.
Getting you out of here alive… is on me. Understand?"
With that, the whole team turned back to the sealed gate and began trying to push it open.
They put all their strength into it — but the gate didn't budge even slightly.
As monsters began approaching, Jimi and Emril tried to distract them, attacking from different angles, while the rest of the team pounded on the gate, desperately trying to break it open.
But Jimi and Emril's attack had no effect on the monster — they kept moving forward.
One of the monsters picked up a stone and hurled it at Jimi. The speed of the stone was so fast that it struck Jimi directly… and his entire body was torn apart.
Seeing Jimi die like that, everyone was horrified.
Revin had never seen someone die before — and this one was so gruesome, there wasn't a single part of the body left intact.
Everyone kept desperately trying to open the gate. It opened slightly, and they all called out to Revin…
But by then, it was already too late.
The monsters had reached them.
One monster, with a single hand, pushed the gate shut again.
Seeing this, everyone felt like their soul had left their body.
They began to scatter, running for their lives.
But the monsters spun and kicked — one of their kicks landed on their healer.
Jennifer died instantly.
Everyone screamed and cried over losing another teammate.
Revin, terrified, was hiding behind a rock.
He was so scared he couldn't even move an inch to escape.
That's when one of the monsters spotted him, picked up another stone, and threw it at Revin —
—but Rook jumped in with his shield and blocked the attack.
However, the impact was so strong that both Rook and Revin were thrown far away.
Revin crashed to the ground — heavily injured, but alive.
He looked toward Rook… who had taken the hit to protect him… and had died.
Seeing this, Revin broke down completely.
Someone had died just to protect him.
Revin started crying uncontrollably.
Then suddenly, someone flew through the air and crashed into a wall near him — it was Emroad.
Emroad, coughing blood, turned toward Revin and said:
"Forgive me, Revin… maybe I should never have brought you here. Because of me, your life ended up in danger. I'm sorry…"
And with that… Emroad died.
Revin froze.
Not a single word came out of his mouth.
He had just seen… all his teammates die.
People he had only met a few hours ago…
People who didn't think twice about sacrificing themselves to save him.
And now… they were all gone.
Revin dropped to his knees, wounded and trembling, his breathing fast, fear visible in his eyes.
Before him was a wave of A-rank monsters… marching toward him.
Dead bodies of his teammates were scattered everywhere.
Revin:
"Who could've known that a D-rank dungeon would turn out to be a double dungeon… and not just that — one filled with A-rank monsters.
I came here only for money… to save my sister…
She's the only one I have left in this world.
Sister… I'm sorry.
I couldn't protect you.
And now I'm leaving you all alone…"
Sobbing, he whispered —
The monsters continued to approach.
Suddenly, Revin shouted in rage:
"I can't give up like this! I have to live — for my sister!
She's waiting for me!"
In fury, he screamed and grabbed Emroad's sword lying nearby —
And charged toward the monsters.
"I won't let anyone get away! Not anymore!"
Seeing Revin rushing in, the monsters also began to run at him.
Revin attacked…
But he was just a normal human.
His attacks did nothing.
One monster slashed — and cut Revin into two pieces.
As he lay dying, Revin murmured:
"Forgive me, Mom… Dad… I couldn't protect my sister.
Sister… I'm sorry.
I'm leaving you… alone…"
And then, everything went silent.
---
Scene shift — a white, peaceful place.
Revin was walking alone… sad, lost in thought, blaming himself for the deaths of his teammates…
And his sister's accident.
He kept walking in despair.
Suddenly, he saw two figures ahead.
He focused his eyes — they were his parents.
He ran forward, broke into tears, and hugged them tightly.
Revin:
"Forgive me…
I couldn't take care of my sister.
And now because of me, she's all alone…"
His mother gently placed her hand on his head:
Mother:
"Son, everything is not over yet.
Your sister…
She's still waiting for you…"
Revin was shocked.
Revin:
"What… what do you mean?
I don't understand anything…"
Just then, his parents began to fade back into the distance.
A light — a strange power — began pulling Revin back toward the real world…
---
Scene shifts back to the dungeon.
All the dead bodies still lay scattered.
The monsters stood still… as if they were waiting for something.
Suddenly, a glowing light began to rise from Revin's torn body.
His two severed halves started to float and merge back together.
Then — a brilliant light burst out from his body.
All the monsters looked on, stunned.
And then — BOOM!
A massive explosion —
The entire dungeon collapsed.
Outside, a Hunter Association officer who was standing by heard the explosion and immediately rushed in.
He saw everything had vanished — no gate, no monsters.
Just destruction… and one body.
He quickly checked the body —
It was still breathing.
Without wasting time, he called for transport and rushed it to the hospital.
That body…
Was none other than Revin's.
---
Two days later.
Revin suddenly woke up — gasping for air, drenched in sweat.
He looked around… he wasn't in the dungeon.
A nurse nearby was startled by his sudden movement.
Revin:
"Where… where am I?"
Nurse:
"This is City Hospital."
Revin, deep in thought, asked:
"How did I get here?"
Nurse:
"You were brought here by a member of the Hunter Association."
Revin:
"Was anyone else brought with me?"
Nurse:
"No… only you."
Revin thought to himself:
"But… I was killed by those monsters.
How am I still alive?
And I saw my parents — what was that?
Was it all just a dream?"
His head began to ache.
Memories of his teammates flashed in his mind —
And he began crying heavily.
Suddenly, a system popup appeared before his eyes:
> "Hello, User. I am the Cap Cutter System.
I will assist you in becoming powerful."
Revin stared at it in disbelief.
He had never seen anything like this before.
It felt insane.
He chose to ignore it.
---
"Now begins not just a journey…
But a war —
One that even the gods are preparing for.
The universe is about to face an onslaught of threats…"
— To be continued.
