"Wow I'm third for this zone, that's much better than I thought"
I take a second to watch the remaining people fight for their lives..
"Hopefully I get a good reward for my placement."
[This was shorter than I expected]
The angel's eyes land upon the remaining people who have yet to complete the mission.
[The amount of survivors has been met for this zone, you were too slow]
"Please angel, I only need one more"
"Mercy have mercy please"
[So disgusting you lower life forms asking me of such things, after all if you weren't so weak you would have survived]
And with that all the remaining people who had not finished the quest slowly started withering away. Like dust in the wind.
My eyes widen, I had just witnessed the death of thousands of people, begging for their lives.
[As a reward for surviving the first round you all will receive a unique skill as a reward, you will receive the skill by crushing the rune which appears in your inventory]
I check my inventory and notice a red rock in it.
"That must be the unique skill"
Name: Rune of paths
A blood red rune, you can hear the sound of echoes emanating from it, you are able to decide my easier, and have greatly increased reaction time.
I stare at the description, my expression blank.
"I-Is that it?"
"There's no way I got something so weak! Making better decisions? What kind of skill is that?"
Suddenly I find myself waking on a hard concrete floor. Looking around it is clear I am now back in the real world.
"They are waking up!"
A large crowd of people could be seen gathering around everyone on the floor.
I start walking away, not wanting to been part of anything happening later.
Slowly the sound of talking is drowned out through the cold night.
Finally, after what felt like hours I arrived home.
Silence echoed throughout the house, the cold tiles make my feet shiver as I approach a room. Carefully I creak the door open just enough to peer inside.
"Good she's asleep" I say.
My sister has always been the light of my life, ever since our parents passed away I have been taking care of her, I was forced to drop out of school in order to make a living wage.
It truly pains me to know that I probably wont be alive much longer.
"It's all because of this shit unique skill."
I lay down on the couch, trying to get some much needed rest, slowly dozing off.
