Soft light creeps over the curved rooftops of the ancient palace, slipping between hanging vines and carved wooden beams. The air is cool, touched by dew, thick with the scent of jasmine and damp pine.
In the far corner of a forgotten courtyard—walled in by age-worn wood and shaded by a spreading magnolia tree—Yaohu rests against a polished wooden wall. His head tilted slightly, black strands of hair falling across his brow, chest bare to the morning air.
His usually taut muscles were relaxed, his body still as stone, yet warm with life.
Nestled against him on both sides were two women, identical in face and form. Both white-haired twins had their pale skin glow faintly in the dawn light. Naked, they looked like angels out on a stroll in the mortal world.
They lie curled against him, their breathing deep, matching the rhythm of his. One arm draped across his lap, the other across his chest.
A quiet tangle of limbs, silver hair, and soft skin.
The rising sun spilled across the courtyard.
It touched Yaohu's face first, faint and golden—pulling him gently from sleep. His eyelids twitched, then opened slowly.
For a moment, he did not move. Only breathed.
A breeze rustled through the trees.
Bamboo leaves whispered.
A bird called once, softly.
Somewhere beyond the stone walls, the palace begins to stir—footsteps padding over distant stone, low voices, the first clatter of porcelain teacups in the servants' wing. The maids were waking up, the palace was getting busy.
But here, in this quiet corridor, everything remained still.
Sacred.
Yaohu exhaled, slow and deep. One of the twins shifted in her sleep, nuzzling closer.
A magnolia petal drift down through the air, catching the sun.
It fell gently on Mirin's face.
Yaohu gently removed it with his arms.
They all opened their eyes groggily.
A new day has arrived.
…
"...Mijin, what time is it now?"
Even though Mirin was asking the question to Mijin, the one o answer was Yaohu. He said with a smile, "It's early morning, something like 5 to 6."
Mirin, visibly awkward, nodded.
Meanwhile, Mijin curled up deeper into Yaohu's arms, still lazily half-asleep. She muttered: "Who cares about time? I just want to lay here."
Yaohu grinned, giving the cheeky girl a kiss on her head. "Good girl."
She pouted.
Meanwhile, Mirin became silent.
He wrapped his hand around the elder sister tightly. Then asked, "What are you thinking?"
She hesitated, then said with an expression of annoyance: "Seducing us using pleasuring abilities was not fair!"
Mijin, who seemed to have also been annoyed, nodded from her place in his chest. "Yes, yes, it was not fair at all! Very bastardly behavior."
Yaohu rolled his eyes. "Was throwing me into Shu Nian'er's room after feeding me aphrodisiac fair?"
Mijin was stunned. "Oh…"
Yaohu raised his chin and said proudly. "You could have easily ended up killing me. You had malicious intentions over me—in fact, if I ended up causing the emperor and the duchess to be on bad terms, I would have been killed by one of them sooner or later. So, who caused more damage? Me to you, or you to me?"
Mirin could not argue against that.
Yet, she still pouted with a gloomy expression.
Mijin looked at her elder sister and frowned. "Why are you so angry sis, it felt good, right?"
"Jin'er," her elder sister said. "Don't be an idiot for at least now and just shut up."
Yaohu caressed Mijin's hair. "Don't worry about your big sister, you can speak. I like Jin'er speaking."
Mijin's cheeks turned bright red and she hid her face in his chest again.
Yaohu looked at Rin, the elder sister. "So, why are you angry, really? I was sure you enjoyed it wholeheartedly."
She stared hardly at him. Then sighed. "We are Yin Wolves. We have a pure, unadulterated Yin Wolf Bloodline. Why do you think I am angry?"
Yaohu was surprised, then curious. "What does that mean?"
Rin frowned. "You don't know?"
Mijin, on the other hand, explained: "It means we get bonded to the man we first sleep with. Like Spiritual Pets, you know? We sisters and your soul is connected now."
Her elder sister's eyes almost spit fire as she said through gritted teeth: "No one will think you are mute if you don't speak!"
On the other hand, Yaohu, who had just learned of the implications—couldn't help but become curious. "Bonded, as in, you are my pets now?"
Rin showed him her fangs. "In your dreams!"
He pinched the girl's cheek. "You are so cute. Now, do you have a tail as well?"
She moved to bite his hand but he moved it aside fast enough to not give her the chance.
"If you don't want to be my bonds that much, why did you sleep with me in the first place?" He asked with a frown. "You could have left!"
The elder sister looked away.
Mijin replied on her behalf: "Actually, we Yin Wolf's don't' choose our own Bond. When the most suitable Bond appears, our physical body responds to that person with lust. And that's what happened yesterday—you were—" she blushed like a red rose. "Irresistible to us."
That made even Yaohu look away with a slight blush. "What again?"
Mijin said shyly. "You are destined to be our Bond, Yaohu."
Her elder sister scoffed. "And that doesn't mean we are his pets!"
He tried to pinch her cheeks again but before he could, he was bitten. He ouched in pain and stared at her with a grimace.
She spat out his fingers gloatingly.
He painfully examined his hand while also calling for the system.
