"Hello, I'm looking for a mission that has at least 50 contribution points as a reward" Wu Zhi said to the receptionist. she said nothing at just pointed over to a different part of the hall. So Wu Zhi flashed her a smile and went over to where she had pointed. He found a board that listed all the available mission he could take and their listed reward. Escort a delivery, kill wild bandits, bodyguard jobs, and kill some demonic beasts that's been causing some trouble. He also found some entertainment missions like playing the zither at a fine establishment or entertaining some local nobles... whatever that meant. Those jobs didn't pay that much though. There was really only one job that caught his eye. Kill the demonic serpent that's been causing havoc near the swan river road, listed reward: 85 contribution points. It was without a doubt the best rewarding mission on the mission board, he also looked around and found out there were other mission boards with higher rewards but he wasn't able to take them due to his cultivation level. That must mean that the missions listed on the board that the receptionist pointed out for him are all missions that qi refinement realm cultivators are suited for. He took the mission which was a piece of paper held up by a bulletin board and made his way over to the receptionist. "This is the mission you wish to take?" she asked him. "Yes" he responded. "Alright these are the additional details you get for having taken up this mission". She then handed him a piece of paper that gave him some more information about the mission. "Off the to the north west of swan river road near the river lies a giant snake. It is rumored to be around the 9th - 11th level of qi refinement. It has been eating people who stray to close to its territory and has diverted travelers from the road causing inconveniences in other areas. Kill the beast and bring back its head for the reward" the paper read. "Is this your first combat mission" the receptionist asked. "Uh, yes it is" he responded. "Since this is your first combat mission the sect provides you a weapon free of charge. What is your preferred weapon of choice?" she asked. "Uh, the sword" he responded. In truth he had no idea how to use a sword but he wasn't trained in any weapon so it didn't really matter. She nodded when through a room and brought back a sword. 'Wow, its really well made' he thought to himself. It had a beautiful scabbard with intricate carvings to it. When he pulled it out of its scabbard it was a well polished blade with a sharp double sided edge to it with a pointed top. 'This is a weapon made to kill, definitely not something one would use in a spar or for self defense'. It was so beautiful he lost himself admiring the craftsmanship. "Umm sir... as I was saying you have 13 days to complete the mission or you won't get your reward". "Oh, of course" he responded slightly embarrassed. He then asked for a map and went on his way.
'Hmm, the map says here that my destination is 2 days away according to my estimations'. He also found the way to leave the sect and come down from the mountain. It looks like a can take a small detour and visit my parents while I'm at it. He slowly made his way down the mountain which led him directly to Rivendale city. The guards of the city saw that he had come down from the mountain and just nodded and let him pass through the gates. 'That was almost bad, I have no money' he thought. He hopped he could sell something or do something in a pinch if he really needed money urgently. It took a while but he made his way to the other side of the city and left through its gates. After that he went home, to the home where he was raised.
He found his dad outside cutting wood like he always did. "Dad!" he yelled as he went up and bear hugged the man. "Son!" he responded. He gave his son a good look as he could tell his dad was surprised to see his growth. "WU NING, OUR SON IS HOME" he yelled as he returned the hug. It was pretty eventful after that as the two parents pampered him a lot. "I'm on a mission for the sect right now, and our home was on the way so I decided to stop by" he said. "While I'm glad you did, we haven't heard anything from you for 8 years" Wu Ning said. "Yeah I went into secluded cultivation for most of those 8 years". He ate with his family and stayed the night. Talking all day about his experience in the sect. Apparently his mom was pregnant, he was probably going to have one more brother or sister before she went sterile. He woke up the next day and said his farewells before heading to swan river road. 'I should kill this snake fast so I can spend some more time with my family' he thought to himself as he was making his way down the road.
He heard his stomach growling after a while as he had been walking for the whole day with nothing to eat. It was also getting dark out. He had got himself a water skin from his parents place for the road, so he wasn't thirsty. He looked at the map and found nothing that was close by that could be used for shelter or a place to eat. He had no choice but to sleep somewhere in the woods. Hopefully he can find a place that was somewhat comfortable. Before it was completely dark out he found a cave in the woods to use as a shelter to sleep in. Happy with his luck he laid down to get some shut eye.
