Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: Eloa

"Just what is so special about this world?" I mumbled as I walked on the street filled with people.

Everyone is busy with their own jobs, but there are people who have nothing but judgment in their eyes. There was this woman who was adorned with luxurious items, but she was eyeing that kid that sells newspapers with disgust. There is also a guy who looks like a gentleman, but he is cursing that woman with a well-developed figure for being a courtesan. There is also another woman who was comparing her jewelry with another woman and simply insulting the other woman's modesty. There is also another guy who gazes at his friend with ridicule and contempt, as if it's that guy's fault for being born poor.

"Why does a god favor this world and even rebel against the god of the past?" I was in a very deep thought, but somehow, why is my sleepiness pulling me to sleep?

Is it because I'm riding in a really cozy train and I blocked my mind from hearing the thoughts of the other passengers?

Originally, I was planning to end this world in a snap, but this strange moving object caught my attention. With the help of the knowledge imbedded in the Akashic Records, I learned that this thing was called a train and also learned how to ride in this one.

Another reason why I refrained from destroying this world is because of that unknown god who willingly reversed back its time. And that god might be the owner of that intense gaze that I'm sensing.

After I entered this world, I felt that someone was observing me and was prepared to attack if ever I made a single mistake.

So I guess I'll act as a human here and temporarily seal my ability in order to escape from those watchful eyes.

My head relaxed by the window. My drowsiness is pulling me, and deep thinking is exhausting me. Come to think of it, I've been awake for ten hours, and it was incredibly exhausting. That's why I'm amazed at how those humans manage to stay awake for 24 hours. That's something I could never do.

Or is it because they are beings with short lifespans, and they felt like sleep limited their activities? They're always so desperate to do many things by staying awake all night and continuing their day. If I could remember it right, this person resembled a programmed robot. The difference is that the robots that I saw in the book's vision were made of hard metal, and humans are made of cells that repair and regrow.

It made me remember that time when I was still young. I was somehow interested in humans; that is why I spent my time learning about them. Aside from humans, I also learned about different creatures like vampires, fairies, elves, mermaids, and many more. But as time went by, everything became boring. So my sleeping habits increase. Because I assured myself that nothing will happen. And nothing really happened in those years of laziness. Except for today.

Tss. My long day of rest was shortened, and my stress level has increased on multiple levels.

"Argh! Should I just destroy this world...?" I mumbled before everything went dark.

I don't know how long it has been since I've been sleeping, but I'm sure my sleep was a lot shorter compared to when I am doing nothing in the palace.

Wait, since I'm just idling for a thousand years, should I play first with that human before returning to the palace of the guardians?

A huge grin was displayed on my face, and in a snap, I was transferred to the location of that person. The center of it all.

Now how am I supposed to enter their house without arousing doubts from the surroundings?

Should I pretend to be a servant? But I can't do what servants can do. As someone idling all over those years, the only thing that I could do was to eat and sleep. Although I can do it if I ingrain the knowledge from that book, I'll look sloppy and clumsy since I have no experience at all.

Then as a knight? Swinging swords is a lot easier to learn compared to learning household chores. In addition to that, I've been learning how to handle swords and other weapons since I was young. Thus, maybe I'll be lucky enough to remember the moves that I learned back then.

In a blink, I manipulated a little bit about the past. Only a little bit, something that won't trigger any change in the Akashic records. This is something I can do, as long as it won't create a large impact on the future.

And I'm not planning on doing anything that could grab their attention. All I have to do is to observe the center of everything and discover who is the god who aided him. After that, goodbye world, and I'll be back to my old life. Just idling all day long.

Using my ability, I changed my clothing and my hairstyle. My long, wavy black hair was tamed into a ponytail, and my simple white dress was changed into a loose and faded tunic and trousers. According to the records, it was the typical clothing of the knights while they were training.

After one final glance in the mirror, I smiled, and my silver eyes glistened. In a snap, I was in the training grounds with the other newbies who were swinging their swords.

Without hesitation, I followed them and easily blended in with the trainees. After a few swings, I remembered everything I've learned in the past. And surprisingly, I enjoyed swinging around the sword.

After an hour of swinging in a repetitive manner, my enthusiasm vanished, and now I'm bored. Just when are we supposed to stop swinging our sword downward? Is it when our arms have fallen off?

Should I just give up my idea earlier and vanish from here?

When I was about to run away, the center of change appeared. Wait, what is his name again? I'm too lazy to keep thinking of the term 'center of change,' since it's quite long.

I think his name sounds like Hey? Bay? Ray? May? I forgot.

"We greet you, young Master Veyron!" Those knights suddenly straightened up before bowing to that guy.

And that's right, his name was Veyron! It's not Hey, Bay, Ray, or May. Just where the hell did those come from?

That Veyron guy gestured to continue our practice, and I pouted when I saw that. That's it! Let's escape from here for a moment!

"Since I'm here, I'm going to evaluate your performance. If whoever passed the evaluation, then they'd be allowed to take a rest," that Veyron guy announced.

Hmm. Fine. I'll stay. But before that, should I take a peek into his mind?

A tiny smirk formed on my lips. I think I'd find his thoughts interesting if I managed to read those. But it vanished the moment I tried to read his thoughts.

Why can't I read them?

Coincidentally, lightning hit the ground near my position. I was startled but eventually glared at whoever that god is. Is he sending me a warning not to touch this guy in front of me?

Tsk. I'm not planning to hurt him. I just want to read his mind.

And since I'm already in a bad mood, I just swing my sword, annoyed. I want to leave, but I can't let that unknown god think that I back away from a simple threat. There's no way I'd be scared of that!

So I just demonstrated my skill, and it seems like Veyron approved of that and allowed me to take a rest. Aside from me, there are three other trainees who were allowed to rest while the others continued swinging their swords to polish their stance and movements.

"Introduce yourself," Veyron commanded, and the three trainees proudly introduced themselves. In their minds, they're too talented and instantly became conceited.

There's also one trainee who glanced at me disapprovingly, as if doubting my ability because of my gender. It's very evident that he is thinking, 'What the hell is this woman doing here?' Isn't she supposed to stay at home and serve her husband? Or is she still single? Should I marry her and make her realize her position in the society? After all, she's nothing but a pretty face and a perfect, submissive wife, not suitable to become a knight. It would be very impossible for her to become one.'

He was the very epitome of a misogynist. Well, according to the Akashic Records.

I guess it wasn't just me who noticed the kind of gaze that he was giving me. Veyron might've noticed it too, as he frowned a little while staring at him.

Then, Veyron shifted his gaze to me. It's a sign for me to introduce myself.

And I've fallen into a dilemma. What name should I use? I can't carelessly use the name Eloa since that name holds my power, and no human is given a chance to mention that name while pertaining to me.

"Elleana. That's my name," I said, but it's not a lie.

Because it's my original name before I was renamed Eloa.
