"Was that Celeste's car just now?"
"Yeah, it's the company van exclusively arranged for Celeste here in Capital City. When will we get that kind of treatment?"
"There seemed to be a man in that car?"
"How could that be! Doesn't everyone in the company know Celeste Monroe dislikes strange men getting close? Brandon, are you seeing things?"
Brandon stood at the Capital City Network entrance, ignoring Felicia and Jackson beside him, merely watching the receding car, deep in thought. Felicia suddenly asked, "Didn't Elise say earlier that Mr. Evans would personally call Celeste Monroe and ask her to look out for us? Has it been settled yet?" Earlier, Elise had told the three to wait downstairs, and if Mr. Evans had instructed Celeste Monroe, she would then take them to visit her. But now Celeste Monroe's car had already driven off, and Elise hadn't come down yet.
Brandon slightly furrowed his brow. A moment later, Elise descended, a hint of indignation on her face. Felicia and Jackson went to meet her. "Elise, how is it? Did Celeste agree?"
Elise's face was a bit grim. "Mr. Evans said that since it's a music competition show, they need to rely on themselves."
Felicia and Jackson froze, immediately understanding. Celeste Monroe had refused! Felicia spat, "If Mr. Evans hadn't promoted her back then, would she be where she is today? She's so ungrateful!" Jackson also fumed, "What's with the pretense of being so pure? Who in entertainment doesn't rely on connections? Who knows how she really became famous back then!"
"Shut up!" Elise snapped, glaring at the two of them. "Don't ever say such things again! Especially not in the company, or you won't last in this business!" Felicia and Jackson flinched. They had simply had too high expectations earlier, and their emotions had spiraled out of control after the disappointment. Now, regaining their composure, they knew Celeste Monroe was not someone they could casually criticize and quickly shut their mouths. Only Brandon showed no emotion, his gaze fixed on the direction where the black sedan had disappeared.
An hour later.
The Hospital.
"The patient fainted due to low blood sugar. Her constitution isn't great. It's best to keep her for observation for a day. She also needs to pay attention to her diet, nutrition, and rest when she goes home. Oh, and..." Outside a VIP single room, the doctor paused and said to Sarah Chou, "When Diva Celeste wakes up, would you mind asking her to sign an autograph for me?"
Sarah Chou, accustomed to such requests, smiled. "No problem, thank you, Doctor. Regarding Celeste's visit to the hospital, please keep it confidential." The doctor immediately promised absolute secrecy, then asked for three more autographs before leaving, perfectly content. After walking a distance, she suddenly stopped.
"Hmm... that man who carried Diva Celeste into the room seemed familiar?" After a moment of thought, she finally gave up. "Never mind. Even if I knew who it was, I couldn't say anything. Forget it."
Inside the hospital room, Celeste Monroe lay quietly on the bed, her slightly disheveled hair falling around her cheeks, her curled eyelashes resting on her closed eyelids. Her face was pale, and her red lips were slightly upturned. Gone was her usual assertiveness, replaced by a touch of feminine fragility.
Frank sat by the bedside, adjusting the IV drip speed to be neither too fast nor too slow. Then he took a small towel and gently placed it over Celeste Monroe's hand, where the needle was inserted. The hand receiving the cold liquid from the IV usually felt a bit cool, and covering it with a thin towel would make it much more comfortable. When Amelia Quinn had just graduated, she often faced setbacks and felt down, frequently getting sick. It was always Frank who took care of her, and he had accumulated a lot of experience. He hadn't expected to use it on Amelia Quinn's aunt now.
Lily watched Frank's gentle and fluid movements, his expression calm and warm, both elegant and reassuring. How could Amelia Quinn have given up on this man? The young woman propped her chin in her hands, observing Frank, as a warm, magnetic voice reached her ears.
"I can't stay here indefinitely, Assistant Lily. My aunt has three bags of IV fluid, each taking about an hour and a half. When it's time to change a bag, just press the call button by the bed."
"I'll go out and buy a bowl of porridge later. Aunt Celeste will probably be hungry when she wakes up, but she can't eat anything too greasy for now. Start with porridge, and she can eat normally tomorrow."
"Remember, she needs to eat regularly from now on, absolutely no staying up late, and she should take some supplements."
After Frank finished speaking, he saw Lily staring at him blankly. He raised his hand and waved it in front of her eyes. "Assistant Lily?"
"Huh? Oh, got it." Lily came back to herself and couldn't help but ask, "Frank, how do you know so much?"
Frank chuckled. "A married man naturally learns a lot."
Lily made an "oh" sound, feeling that this guy's easygoing charm was really captivating. Deadly for young women, but useless for mature women like her. Even more useless for Celeste.
Frank looked at the weak, delicate Celeste Monroe on the hospital bed and quietly asked Lily, "Assistant Lily, besides low blood sugar, was there something else that caused my aunt to faint?"
Lily looked at Frank in surprise. This guy is too sharp! But then she thought that if it weren't for Frank today, Celeste might not have been sent to the hospital so smoothly. She started to consider Frank half of their own.
"Our boss called Celeste."
Frank's eyebrows raised slightly. "Mr. Evans from Gemstone Records? I heard he discovered my aunt?"
Lily nodded. "The media has reported that eight hundred times. You could say there's no Celeste today without Mr. Evans. But there are some things they don't know." She lowered her voice. "Mr. Evans has never married. You know why, right?" The young woman nudged her head towards Celeste Monroe on the bed. Frank's heart trembled slightly. Could my aunt and the owner of Gemstone Records be a couple?
"But Celeste isn't interested in any man, so Mr. Evans has always been quite unhappy about it."
"Just now, Mr. Evans called and wanted Celeste to look out for the three new artists from the company who are on American Voice. Celeste refused, and Mr. Evans said a lot of harsh things!" Lily repeated Mr. Evans's words, indignant. "Celeste actually has a cold exterior but a warm heart. If someone shows her even a little kindness, she repays it tenfold. Mr. Evans said she wouldn't get any true affection, but Sarah and I are absolutely sincere towards Celeste!"
"And in the future, there will be truly good men who are just as sincere towards Celeste!"
"I will also be very sincere towards my aunt," Frank blurted out.
Lily froze.
Frank quickly added, "It's the sincerity of a junior towards an elder, a student towards a teacher. Since Mr. Evans said my aunt wouldn't get any familial affection, then from now on, I'll be my aunt's family!"
"Good! That's loyalty!" Lily gave Frank a thumbs-up, then patted her chest. She had been terrified just now. If Amelia Quinn's ex-husband really had feelings for Celeste, that would be too explosive!
Frank saw that Celeste Monroe's condition was stable and didn't linger. He stood up and said, "Assistant Lily, I'm going to leave now. I'll trouble you to look after my aunt."
"Okay, just call me Lily. I'll see you out."
Lily saw Frank out. In the quiet hospital room, Celeste Monroe slowly opened her eyes.
"Family..."
