As the Harpy cawed, the bright orange energy surrounding it got larger and larger, and the wind started to pick up. While the civilians themselves were no longer being pelted with feathers strong as missiles, a more dangerous attack was being charged as a tornado began forming with the Harpy in the center of it all, as streaks of orange lightning shot out of it. Each strike was far more devastating as they turned concrete into ash easily and wiped out whole groups of people in quick flashes.
On a far-off building stood this city's ever-watching guardian, the Batman, alone on one of his rare solo runs. In his hands was a pair of binoculars that were zoomed in on the Harpy, whose tornado was ever-growing in strength and size. Eventually, he put the binoculars away and touched the side of his head, perhaps an earpiece or communication device of some sort.
"Batman to Watchtower, I need backup on a possibly extraterrestrial threat currently on a rampage in downtown Gotham."
Once he said his peace, he grabbed a grappling gun and shot it toward one of the least destroyed buildings. As he swung across, he was able to get a good view of the carnage, on the chaos and destruction the Harpy was causing, and yet he showed no panic but instead a stoic face. This sight was something this man was far too used to, something that he had gotten used to. As he neared the building, he got several batarangs out and threw them toward several streaks of orange lightning that had yet to reach their intended target.
While this did work for a few of the lightning bolts, one or two were able to sneak past and strike the building he was swinging to. More specifically, right atop the area his grappler was attached to, which separated him from the building and sent him on a free fall. As he began falling to the ground, he began fiddling with his grappling gun, tying the now broken wire to a batarang, making a makeshift grapling hook to replace the one just destroyed.
Once he was done, he reset the grappling gun, getting ready to fire again, being careful about his aim as rubble fell alongside him. Of course, he had to hurry up as well as he was rapidly approaching the ground, and just as he was about to fire, a green baseball glove caught him, stopping his fall. Looking around, he saw his fellow Justice League member, Green Lantern, or more specifically, Hal Jordan, who currently had a smirk on his face.
"So, Batman finally ready to let us into your backyard?" He said as he gently lifted him u and sat him on one of the more stable buildings with Batman just giving him the standard glare.
"Lantern, can you form an energy shield around the tornado and limit the damage this thing is causing?" He asked mostly as a matter of fact rather than a question, with Hal smirking and flying off to do just that.
Seeing him fly off, Batman would begin helping evacuate civilians parkouring off the building, and throwing explosive batarangs at a few pieces of rubble that were about to fall over and crush the fleeing civilians. While they did make them far smaller, a few pieces still fell on the fleeing civilians, only instead of killing them, it merely injured or knocked a few out. Batman grimaced, seeing this, knowing that this was only going to get worse before it got better.
At that moment, Hal was flying high above the tornado, doing his best not to get caught up in the wind or lightning. He reeled his fist back, and his ring glowed a bright neon green. In that moment, a gigantic capsule surrounded the Harpy and its tornado, alongside the bright orange lighting now clashing against the walls. Putting his hand against his head, Hal turned on his own communication device.
"Got the thing contained for now, but we both know that's not going to last forever, any idea Bat's?" Hal asked as the force of the lightning got stronger and stronger, forcing Hal to increase the energy output each time to keep the cage up.
Batman is keeping an eye on the fleeing civilians would put his hand on his earpiece.
"Keep them contained until more help arrives. We don't know this thing's full limits, and taking it up into the air could give it more firepower or put another part of Gotham in danger."
"Batman to Watchower, I need an ETA on when the remaining available Justice League members arrive."
On the other end of the comms, a man dressed in all green with a bow strapped to his back alongside a quiver would answer, this being Green Arrow.
"I'm on my way now, Bruce, have John and Diana with me as well, and should be there in a minute."
While Batman and Green Arrow communicated, the Harpy saw that it was now trapped, began gathering the energy, gathering the wind, and shrinking the tornado. It began to move its hand, combining it into a large spherical ball, one full of pent-up energy waiting to be released. Seeing this, Hal began shining the cage as well, focusing all his energy on the spot where the Harpy was, which was high in the air, looming over the city like a bomb waiting to go off.
"Sorry about this, Bat's, but it looks like we're going to be playing some baseball."
Hal then tossed the energy ball up high, letting it form into a baseball as he conjured a bat, getting ready to swing. Then, as it came running down, He swung the bat, sending the ball into the atmosphere, far away from the city, much to the joy of the citizens, cops, and criminals below, with Batman squinting his eyes, and getting his binoculars out to keep an eye on the situation.
"When in doubt, toss them into space; it works a whole lot of the time, especially with alien invaders."
"Hey Bats, probably have a few minutes before-" Just as Hal was speaking, a massive burst of air and energy went off high in the atmosphere as two entities foreign to the world clashed, as Icarus had finally entered Earth's atmosphere, being greeted with his test dead on.
The ensuing clash formed a gigantic ball of energy and air, one third of the golden energy Icarus emitted, oen third of the air the Harpy gathered, and one third the bright orange energy it created all on its own. This only horrified the citizens below in the city, who just froze up and stared at the sphere, not knowing what to do, as they all stood frozen in fear, and anyone who was still holding a weapon dropped it, as children adn babies began crying, soem for their parents, others in horror sensing that this was far from over.
