Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: Not Just Rumors

"Sometimes the only way to silence a rumor

is to look it in the eye

and speak your own truth —

softly, honestly, together."

Dear Diary,

They paired us together in Literature today.

Of course they did.

Because fate has a sense of humor…

and maybe a little too much time on its hands.

"Partner work. Choose someone beside or behind you."

He didn't even wait.

Just stood, walked toward my desk, and said,

"Wouldn't want to disappoint the rumor mill."

I laughed — lightly, nervously.

Because sitting next to him,

in this space,

with all the eyes watching —

felt different from our quiet museum world.

But then he looked at me —

not as the girl from the rumors,

but as me.

Wunor.

And suddenly, I didn't care who was watching.

---

The assignment?

Write a two-page scene based on the theme:

"What if we weren't strangers?"

He grinned.

"Easy."

"You think?" I asked.

"We already lived it," he replied.

We wrote in silence, our pens moving like twin rivers down paper.

No copying. No comparing. Just… flow.

When we read it aloud,

the class was quiet — not in boredom, but in listening.

Like they could feel the warmth hidden between the words.

> A boy who moves into a new street. A girl who writes her thoughts like poetry.

They meet in an attic full of forgotten art,

where she speaks in metaphors and he learns how to answer with stillness.

They aren't strangers — not really.

Because sometimes, souls know each other

long before lips learn names.

When I looked up,

his eyes met mine.

And in that soft stillness,

we rewrote the rumor.

Together.

---

Jia waited for me at break, smirking.

"So. You two are writing novels together now?"

"Just a scene," I said.

"Mmhmm. Sure."

But she hugged me before she teased again.

---

Rumors can be loud, Diary.

But today, the truth was louder.

Not in shouts.

Not in declarations.

But in shared glances.

In words written in ink.

In a boy who transferred not just to my school,

but into my orbit —

a satellite of something gentle and bright.

And me?

I'm not afraid of being talked about anymore.

Let them speak.

Because I've found someone who listens.

Till our next chapter,

Wunor ✍🏽💭📖
