Chapter 11 - Development Direction

The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect acted with remarkable speed. In just one day, they arranged for a dedicated team to help Yang Xiong's family move. Every single item in their home, large and small, was packed and relocated including even the small tools Yang Xiong used for training.

It wasn't until Yang Xiong officially entered the inner sect that he truly experienced the prosperity and wealth of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.

The entire inner sect was built with magnificent splendor pavilions, lakes, artificial mountains, everything one could imagine. Even the lake water shimmered emerald green like jade, and the misty aura around it made the place feel like a heavenly paradise. Even the simplest of trees were rare and valuable, their mere presence beneficial to soul masters.

Yang Xiong's family was assigned to a courtyard near the western edge. Though there were only four family members, and even with two attendants, only six people in total, their new home had more than ten rooms. The courtyard also featured a large training ground, a small pond, and even a secret chamber, an ideal living environment by any standard.

The most surprised was Yang Wei, Yang Xiong's older brother, who had been studying in Heaven Dou City. In the blink of an eye, the entire family had become inner sect disciples of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Even their parents were given new jobs within the inner sect.

It was well known that the inner sect enjoyed far better treatment than the outer sect. Each month, they received stipends, medicinal pills, and various other benefits.

At that moment, Yang Xiong was deep in thought at home, staring at a pile of papers filled with notes and diagrams.

He was carefully considering his choices for soul rings, a matter he believed to be of utmost importance, contemplating his future development in great depth.

Given that his martial soul was his own body, he theoretically had countless options. Yet none of the options he considered seemed ideal.

He had written down the fundamental attributes of the Douluo Continent: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Light, Darkness, and Space.

Beyond those were secondary attributes such as Ice, Thunder, Wind, Poison, Strength, Speed, and Spirit. These were essentially extensions of the basic elements, for example, Ice derived from Water, and Thunder was a fusion of various elements. Even Wind wasn't considered a primary attribute.

Light, Darkness, and Space were classified as advanced basic attributes.

Strength and Spirit were more like hybrid or evolved attributes, possibly emerging from the combination of multiple basic elements.

For instance, the Clear Sky Hammer of the Clear Sky Sect likely began as a simple hammer, inherently a Metal-type martial soul. However, by infusing it with strength-type soul rings, the Clear Sky Sect elevated it into a fearsome weapon, potentially even capable of reaching the pinnacle of power.

Another example was the White Tiger martial soul of the Dai family from Star Luo Empire, which essentially combined Strength and Metal attributes.

Strength-type soul beasts typically combined Metal, Earth, and sometimes other elements.

Take the Flame Lion or the Horned Fire Explosion Dragon, both had immense strength and Fire attributes, with Fire often becoming dominant. Or the Deep Sea Demon Whale amber, which, while Water-type in theory, also had Thunder and Strength traits.

Tang Lie of the Clear Sky Sect, though wielding a Clear Sky Hammer with strength attributes, exhibited both strength and fire in combat, enhancing his overall power.

From this, it seemed that Strength might not be a standalone attribute but rather a powerful manifestation created by blending multiple elements.

Based on his research into body-type martial souls, Yang Xiong concluded that focusing purely on Strength might be ideal, especially as it could lead to an increasingly powerful body.

However, the Body Sect hadn't taken that route. Top members like "Poison Not Dead" and "Poison Must Die" followed the path of Poison. Given their expertise, there must have been soul masters who tried the pure Strength path, but it likely did not meet expectations.

The same could be said of the Li Clan, one of the Four Great Single-Attribute Clans, which focused solely on Strength. Their Giant Strength Gorilla martial soul wasn't weak, yet they never produced a Title Douluo and were gradually fading into obscurity, proving that the pure Strength path wasn't necessarily optimal.

After thinking it through for an entire day, Yang Xiong finally settled on his development path.

He would walk the path of Strength while incorporating all attributes. Every soul ring he chose would be Strength-based but would also carry one of the eight basic elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Light, Darkness, and Space.

Among these, the hardest to find would be a Wood-type strength soul beast. The others could be sourced with some effort.

Yang Xiong chose this path because Strength could enhance his combat abilities and his physical body in all aspects. It might even allow him to absorb higher-tier soul rings and trigger a second awakening of his martial soul.

Beyond elemental considerations, he also aimed to select high-quality soul beasts—especially those with dragon bloodlines, which could offer superior enhancements.

The core of this plan lay in the unique compatibility of his body-type martial soul. Since it was based on his own body, it could absorb soul rings of any attribute without conflict.

Yang Xiong even believed that if he truly acquired all the elements, his body might undergo a qualitative transformation and achieve unprecedented strength.

The next morning, Yang Xiong presented his soul ring request to his homeroom teacher.

At the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, students needing soul rings were supported by a team dedicated to analyzing and selecting suitable soul beasts.

The sect even maintained its own soul beast forest over 50 kilometers in length and breadth populated entirely by soul beasts under 10,000 years old. Beasts over 10,000 years had to be hunted externally.

Typically, ordinary students only used soul beasts up to the 1,000-year level. Only deacons above the Soul Sect rank required 10,000-year soul beasts, which were outside the school's purview.

Moreover, acquiring 10,000-year soul beasts was difficult and required significant contributions to the sect. Some needed to be hunted in the dangerous Star Dou Forest.

Teacher Lin Gong pulled out a thick book containing records of all the soul beasts raised by the sect.

As Yang Xiong opened the book, he saw a wide variety of soul beasts listed, spanning different year levels. Common types were abundant; rarer ones were reserved for geniuses.

The first entry was the Thousand-Jin Ant, including detailed data:

 "Thousand-Jin Ant, pure strength-type soul beast. 100-year variant: 17 specimens. 200-year variant: 9 specimens…"

The second page listed the Soft-Boned Rabbit. Though rarely powerful, it was a decent option for speed-type soul masters.

Yang Xiong flipped through page after page, but none of the beasts met his criteria. The ones kept in captivity were too ordinary, none of them stood out as top-tier.

Then suddenly, his eyes lit up. He carefully examined one of the entries and said, "Teacher Lin, I'd like to choose this soul beast."

Lin Gong was surprised. "Yang Xiong, think this through. This soul beast has decent quality, but it's 540 years old, far beyond the safe limit for a first soul ring. Plus, it's a defensive-type beast, which doesn't really align with your martial soul."

"This beast has been raised by the sect for years, but no one has ever picked it. Turtle-type soul beasts have too many limitations. At best, they provide defensive soul skills and only suit turtle-type martial souls. We barely have any turtle-type soul masters here, let alone among the students."

Yang Xiong replied firmly, "I've made up my mind, Teacher Lin. I believe this one suits me very well."

Lin Gong nodded. "This is a serious matter. I'll have to report it to the sect master and inform your parents. A single mistake here could ruin you permanently, that would be a real disaster."
