"Someone's here to see you, Miss Croft."
I looked up from my desk where I'd been trying to focus on work since my confrontation with Rhys. One of our newer employees, Lisa, stood in my doorway, her expression slightly bewildered.
"Who is it?" I asked, though a sinking feeling told me exactly who my visitor was.
"He's... waiting in Alpha Orion's office," Lisa replied, her eyes darting nervously. "He insisted on meeting you there."
The audacity. I took a deep breath, trying to control my rising anger. "And you let him into the Head Alpha's private office?"
Lisa paled. "He's... he's an Alpha. We couldn't exactly refuse."
Of course. Even here, Rhys Knight's commanding presence made people bend to his will. Some things never changed.
"Thank you, Lisa. I'll handle it." I stood up, smoothing my skirt. As I made my way down the hallway, I noticed the curious glances from other employees. The whispers followed me like shadows.
