The following day came, Thea looked nervous. Don't worry, you'll be fine, Anitta comforted her. She's right, as long as you don't mess you won't die, he said.
Alright, just remember not to mess and die Thea, should be easy, she comforted herself. Let go, they left as the others waved them off.
Deep into the forest, they were perched on a tree looking at a beast grazing below them, this was one of the mortal grade bloodline beasts he had killed before.
It was called the mutated deer, a simple name. It was in the middle stage of rank one, one stage higher than hers but with her higher grade bloodline, she should win, right?
Okay, go. She jumped from the tree with a shout, brandishing the two daggers he gave her. The deer looked up and saw her then sprinted away.
It was fast, much faster than she was, this beasts was not confrontational unless forced to, it would simply run away and he had never once seen their kind eat another beast, they always ate the grass.
It...ran way. That it did, why did you scream again? I don't know, to pump myself up I guess. Yeah, no don't.. don't do that, it will just scare them away.
They continued their hunt and most of the mortal grade beasts ran away, ofcourse these were the none confrontational types, I think Anitta called them herbi something.
Deciding this was getting them nowhere he led her south. Where are we going! To hunt something that will hunt you back. WHAT? no I don't want to do that.
I don't want to be so impressive as well but here we are. A few kilometres south of the town they saw it, a brown creature with a bushy tail and long ears that stood up.
It was large, even larger than Shade, it stood at almost two metres tall. This was one of the most dangerous mortal grade bloodline beasts he had ever faced.
What is that? That is a murder jackal, it ears flinched, it had heard them but Thea seemed to not notice this. What made this creature so dangerous was it craftiness.
Although it knew they were there it pretended it didn't notice. The first time he met it kind which was two weeks ago during his killing spree, it almost took his arm off.
Had he not been as durable as he was he would've lost an arm. You want me to kill that? Yes, Shade and i will wait here, you have until the end of the day to successfully hunt it down.
He leaned on the tree and closed his eyes, after Thea left, he opened his eyes and watched her. He wasn't going to leave her on her own ofcourse, not while knowing how dangerous that creature was.
Ofcourse this one was only in the mid stage not peak stage like the one he faced but still, Thea was only at the early stage, she was yet to even absorb a single blood core.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Thea was both scared and excited, to think the boy she thought was a creep the first time they met would change her life like this. Now she was out here hunting corrupted beasts.
She never imagined herself doing this in her life, let alone possessing a bloodline but here she was. Just as she got within 200 metres of the jackal, it turned and looked at her then ran.
She thought it would be like the others but she was told she had an entire day to hunt it, so she started chasing, she was fast, much faster than she had ever been.
When she moved she felt as if the wind supporting her, like she was one with it. She knew this was because of her bloodline, instinctively she could tell it was related to wind somehow.
Her body felt light, she moved incredibly fast, although her increase in strength is not beyond human capabilities, her speed certainly was yet she still failed to catch up to it.
She slowed down, she didn't really have to chase so hard, with her improved eyesight, she could see things clearly kilometres away. Although the beast was now 2 kilometres away from her she can still see it like it was right infront of her.
She can even see the fine hairs on it fur move in the wind. She continued trailing it however before she noticed, it had gotten dark.
She had lost track of it, although her eyesight had improved tremendously, it was not as good at night, she can still see ofcourse just not as well as during the day.
Her heart started pounding with fear, her body screaming for her to run but she was too inexperienced to know to listen to those instincts.
She continued forward slowly then climbed a tree hoping higher ground would give her a better view. The moonlight covered the top of the forest like a blanket, it was much brighter than below the canopy of the dense forest but she still did not see it.
She climbed, just as she reached the last branch something jumped at her, she tried to dodge but a huge claw hit her arm and blood flew into the air like a fountain.
She grimaced with tears filling her eyes as she was sent flying down, she felt her bone groan as she hit the ground with a bang and rolled for a few metres but she refused to scream.
She stood up only to see the jackal flash as it ran around her using the trees as cover to hide itself. She now understood what he meant by something that will hunt her back.
This was no a hunter and prey situation, but two hunters after each other's throats but if she was not careful she would become the prey. She pulled one of her daggers behind her.
Her left arm was was bleeding and she found it hard to move it. She held her dagger with her right hand and waited, she felt the wind scream behind her.
Turning around she saw it, it giant maw opened wide like a cave about to devour her, she rolled to the side and swung her dagger, a sound like swords colliding echoed as it ran past her and disappeared into the dark forest.
Did I get it? She wondered, she was sure she hit something but flesh would not sound like that, her heart was beating even faster, she was sweating even though it was cold and fear grasped her heart like an unbreakable chain.
