Most individuals inherit only one elemental affinity, passed down from either parent.
Dual-Magic Wielders: Those who can command two elements—extremely rare, passed down from both of their parents's elements.
Multi-Wielders: Legendary figures said to control multiple elements—no confirmed cases exist to date. But there have always been whispers—rumors passed down through the millennia—about people like that.
Elemental Core Seizure:
When a mage dies, their elemental core does not immediately vanish. Instead, it lingers for several weeks, gradually breaking down and releasing its magic back into the air.
However, if someone manages to find and absorb this core before it crumbles, they can inherit the elemental affinity of the deceased mage.
Yet the price is steep.
To absorb a new element is to forfeit one's original core—sacrificing their innate power. No matter how advanced the one who absorbs it may be, the new element will always begin at the Novice Tier, as if starting over from scratch.
If the elemental core in question belonged to a dual-element mage—or even rarer, a multi-elemental one—the inheritor would gain access to all those elements simultaneously.
Because of this, the hunting and murder of dual-element mages for their cores has become all too common.
As for multi-elemental mages—if such beings truly exist—they would be the most hunted individuals in the world.
