~~~ [START]
"You know, it surprises me that she even let you in" Bella shook her head, as Vlad sat next to her on the opposite sit.
"You know what they say," he knelt down in a tired posture, "grace follows the angle",
"But they never say that".
Yet he never replied, he just glanced around, his face showing surprise and hinting an expression of shock.
"What?" Bella asked, confused by his changed expression.
With her question, Vlad only looked at her as he made an attempt at turning his eyes into ones that resembled the adorable gaze of a puppy.
"What?" She grew frustrated, although in her eyes Vlad was beautiful, it felt too weird to view him in such a glance.
"Please", his words suddenly whispered.
So Bella moved her eyes, searching for the wrong, until her gaze landed on nothing, and then it hit.
"You forgot your books, didnt you?"
But vlads smile only grew.
"Just tear me a page", he pleaded, his hands raised up, mimicking the posture of prayer. "Please".
She shook her head and laughed slightly at his words. Took a book from her bag and ripped a single piece.
Then, instantly, Vlad's expression changed to one that mimicked appreciation.
It was weird—how well he changed his face. She felt like she could understand what each of his changed expressions truly meant, and to her, if Vlad were to be an actor, she wouldn't be surprised if he did extremely well.
Although Vlad and Bella had only known each other for nothing but a spark of a few days—it felt as if they had always had—as if they had always been; friends.
____
"Please everyone, the question paper is not your playground," a female teacher spoke, "Don't go around writing nonsense",
"But, miss Rose", a handsome good-looking fellow raised his hand in preparation to ask a question, or to those who knew, a teen who was led by nothing but the lead of arrogance, "What if it's Narrative, aren't we allowed to treat it as a playground then?"
He was confident, which to Vlad seemed rather expected, since from his attitude, he showed some signs of being intelligent or, to the eye, smart.
"Oh, of course you can," she replied, clearly amused by his confidence, "but never forget, if you treat your paper like a playground, expect nothing but childish results." And the class laughed at her words.
RINGGG!
The bell disturbed the atmosphere as immediately, students started packing their bags and preparing their leave.
"So, were you really afraid of your own shadow?" Bella couldn't help but ask while laughing, clearly taken aback by the words Vlad had spoken earlier that day.
"Yeah, it was just a joke", he brushed it off, clearly aware that Bella was only asking as a way to taunt.
"Does it mean that everyone shears gym class, or is it just us?"
"Na, I think the classes are divided",
"Makes sense."
"Let me help you out". Vlad rushed to Bella's side as he carried her bag.
"No," she protested,
"What?" His expression changed instantly, turning from neutral to upright 'faking disappointment,' "Are you afraid that people will think we are dating?"
"No", she replied, holding back laughing, "I'm afraid they will think I'm a paedophile".
He stopped his pace and smirked, not being able to help himself but smile slightly, placing his gaze at Bella, who, unfortunately, was trying to control her uncontrollable laughter.
____
"Smash", Vlad spoke out as he looked at Bella, who was now wearing her gym clothes.
"Please stop!" she shouted, clearly annoyed by his words, but still—holding back a smile, that if some paid attention, would be mistaken for a blush.
"But, his right", spoke a girl who, to Bella, seemed to appear out of nowhere.
Vlad only raised his arms in acceptance, as if saying 'I told you so', when she spoke.
"I'm Jessica by the way", she introduced, which for Vlad didn't really matter, since he had already drifted away, getting ready to make the most incredible pass known to man—as he focused on the volleyball that was launching towards his direction.
Vlad didn't really mind not being popular, but just like all true men of culture, when the opportunity presented itself—fuck it.
So he jumped through the air—just enough for the jump to be considered normal, but hard to complete.
Moving though the crowds like a blare of wind, then
BOOM!
The volleyball suddenly exploded with his hit. It wasn't intended—but he had mistakenly put too much force.
The whole court was brought to silence, eyes moving with swiftness to the short teen of a leprechaun who had ruined PE.
And immediately, as if by instant, Vlad automatically knew that his chances of becoming popular had disappeared like the gold at the end of a rainbow, or to some extent, like the rainbow itself.
And that's how it started. The legend of the leprechaun that ended PE—with one perfect stroke.
____
"Oi, look at this", Bella couldn't help but speak out, "so the famous leprechaun has decided to show up".
And Vlad, now changed from his gym clothes, just loudly sighed inwardly, thinking of the unknown misfortune he had forced on his life".
"But hey, look at the bright side," shot in Jessica, who for some reason got too close to Vlad's inner space, "they call you the supper good looking leprechaun",
"You say that as if it's supposed to be a compliment",
"It is," and Bella laughed, truly amazing all that stood near or close to where they walked.
"Which period are you off to now, governor",
"That's British"
"Same thing"
"Huh"
"Math".
"Oh, really?"
"What? Are we going to the same class?"
"No, I'm just surprises we ain't"
"Then see you at lunch", Vlad couldn't help but leave their space, feeling as if the taunting would never end.
_____
Math class wasn't anything special.
Just the usual problems, unsolved X's and some Y's at times.
For Vlad, studying wasn't actually a thing. All he needed to do was listen to the explanation once, and his mind would atomically know the application.
He had a feeling it had something to do with the souls of those alucard killed before his death. But he didn't really take note of it. He just told himself that his mind 'as a vampire', just functioned differently—more superior.
Which, to 'humans', wasn't really that much of a diss, considering that they are the only reason he was able to leave a perfectly normal life.
He didn't know what would happen if one day all humans disappeared.
For all he knew—he would at least survive, but could he truly still remain sane without human blood?
Yes, he could leech off the blood of animals—but would he truly be the same?
He knew that the extinction of humans had now become one of his biggest fears—so to them, he showed the utmost respect.
He felt sleepy—which for him was the same as every other day. And the teacher, as if disturbed by his presence, would occasionally ask him some questions.
But Vlad, who was unwillingly forced to focus by his curse, answered everything perfectly.
At times, the teacher would note how he didn't even need a calculator to calculate most questions, like fuck—the kid didn't even have a bag or any books, just a page that seemed to be ripped from a book — an empty page to say the least, since he had mistakenly forgotten to ask Bella for a flipping pan.
So math class drifted swiftly, no mistakes, no judgment, just endless teachings that Vlad had to endlessly endure—well, that was until,
RINGGG!
The bell rang for lunch.
Half the day finally gone—Or for Vlad, it was only the beginning.
