Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Conversation Between Brothers (2)

After saying those words, Modric was silent for a long time, carrying a sad and deep gaze, completely different from his usual sinister and domineering one.

It seemed that whether he was the chief of staff or the second prince of the Empire, Modric was still a human being, and sometimes, a human being would not be able to help but reveal his weak side.

Now was also the best opportunity for him to do so.

In this beautiful garden right now, there was only him and Ash, so Modric was not afraid of being discovered by anyone.

But then, when he realized that he had not said anything for a while, he quickly spoke up, avoiding making the situation becoming more awkward:

"Back to the main topic, our uncle has betrayed us Ash, so there is no reason for me not to kill him."

"..."

"Moreover, he had joined an Organization that intends to destroy the False Horizon, which our Emperor or father is risking his life to protect. So of course I can't forgive him."

"But can't we just keep him alive and interrogate him?"

"Are you… serious?" Modric looked at his younger brother with disbelief.

Ash clearly wasn't happy with this look because it felt like he was being treated like an idiot. But that was only natural, in the eyes of geniuses, he was no different from a brainless person.

Furthermore, Ash didn't consider himself very smart. Or perhaps he was just underestimating himself.

Who knew.

"Sigh. Look, Ash, if he could reveal that information so easily, I wouldn't have needed to bring you there. Besides, even if he did tell the truth, I wouldn't be able to believe it 100%."

"..."

"So I was planning to find that Organization myself and destroy it as soon as possible."

"Is that so?" Ash replied indifferently, without even a single wish of good luck.

It was simply because he felt that he didn't need to say such words. After all, the person sitting next to him was the genius of the century, so if he wanted to, Modric would definitely find traces of that Organization quickly.

Back when he was playing False Horizon, Ash didn't have to spend too much effort to find this Organization because what they did was quite obvious.

But the real problem was that the high-ranking members of the Organization were not to be underestimated.

However…

Ash glanced at Modric, who was quietly witnessing the fake stars created by the False Horizon.

It probably wouldn't be too much of a problem for him since there were many other powerful people under Modric. Furthermore, he had an army and could ask for the help of the First Prince at any time.

So it should be fine.

But before that, Ash still needed to remind Modric of this:

"What about my life? Didn't you just hear that the Abyssal Organization was planning to kill me?"

"So what? You are going to Awakened Academy anyway, where the security is second only to the Royal Palace. Besides, you're the fiancé of the principal's daughter, so what do I need to worry about?"

Perhaps the person Modric was referring to was Furina Faelan since she was the only daughter of the principal that Ash knew.

What Modric just said made sense, but since Ash was a player, he knew that at the end of the second year since he entered the Academy, a terrorist attack would occur and the culprit would be none other than the Abyssal Organization.

After all, the safety of Awakened Academy wasn't that high.

Seeing Ash's expectant gaze, Modric couldn't help but feel discouraged as an older brother.

"Tsk, fine. I'll increase the security of that place during the time you're studying."

"Yay, thank you, big brother!" Words couldn't be more fake.

But somehow, Modric seemed quite satisfied hearing those things from Ash's mouth.

"Oh, right!" The Second Prince seemed to remember something.

"What's the matter?"

"I just remembered that the day after tomorrow you will be going to Awakened Academy. So you better prepare yourself in advance because that place is not for a useless person like you. It is a place to train geniuses."

"You call your younger brother a useless person?" Ash was completely speechless.

"So what? If I compare you to the people in the Academy, you are really no different from a useless one."

"..."

"That is the truth about Awakened Academy. Only geniuses can enter, but because you are special, you are given special permission to study there."

Feeling that there was nothing more to say to Modric, Ash immediately stood up and walked towards his tower.

But after taking a few steps, he suddenly stopped, not because he was held back by the Second Prince like last time, but because he himself wanted to stop.

"Hey Modric, did you do what I asked you to do this afternoon?"

The Second Prince was silent for a long while, seemingly enjoying teasing his younger brother before finally speaking up:

"Of course it's done, who do you think I am? But does that mean you'll be going there tomorrow?"

Ash hesitated for a moment.

"Yeah, I'll go there tomorrow."

"Do I need to ask someone to escort you?"

"No need, I will just bring Gilbert with me."

***

The next day, Ash had specially dressed up in a very elegant and polite black suit, holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers and strolling around while glancing at the area.

At the last meeting, Ash had asked Modric to set up graves for the soldiers who had died, and the Second Prince had actually done as he was told.

What was even more amazing was that he hadn't even done this project haphazardly, but had spent quite a lot of money to build this place properly, without any sloppiness at all.

It was just to make his little brother happy.

'Tsk, who the hell spread the rumor that Ash didn't have a good relationship with his brothers? They were so fucking close.'

Ash carefully read the names of the soldiers who had died for the Empire, trying to memorize as many as possible.

To be honest, he didn't understand why he was doing such things. But Ash also didn't really care about this strangeness because it didn't cause him any harm.

Walking with the butler Gilbert, Ash suddenly stopped when he saw a woman and her children standing in front of a tomb with Louis' name engraved on it.

She and her children were all dressed in luxurious and beautiful clothes, but all of them were wearing a sad and tragic look in their eyes.

Sometimes, money wasn't the best way to completely solve a problem, but it was definitely the fastest and easiest way.

Ash looked at them for a long time before completely leaving with Gilbert, returning to the Royal Palace with him.

'I kept my promise, Louis. You don't need to worry anymore. Rest in peace…my soldier.'
