Chapter 34 - The Strongest Meets the Unseen Mirror

The training field behind Jujutsu High had been reinforced countless times, but today it was about to be tested again.

A soft breeze stirred the trees. Clouds drifted lazily overhead. And in the center of the clearing, Riku Yamadera stood shirtless beneath the sunlight, black pants and boots laced tight, arms at his sides—calm, unmoving.

Across from him, Gojo Satoru grinned wide, one hand in his pocket, the other lazily brushing strands of white hair from his forehead.

"You ready?" Gojo's voice rang out, light and amused. "Or do you need a warm-up round first?"

Riku's eyes narrowed. "I don't hold back in warm-ups."

"Perfect," Gojo said, pulling down his blindfold just enough to show the piercing glow of his Six Eyes. "Neither do I."

And then he moved.

Not stepped.

Moved.

In an instant, Gojo vanished and reappeared beside Riku, throwing a casual kick toward his side. But Riku didn't flinch. He shifted with Flash Step, reappearing meters away in a blur of light and dust, arms already coated with Haki.

Gojo raised a brow. "Oh? That's fast."

"Try to keep up."

They clashed.

Fist met fist—Haki-reinforced strength crashing into Limitless-restrained power. The air cracked like thunder as the force of their blows sent shockwaves through the trees. Dirt exploded beneath their feet with every step, every strike, every movement too fast for an untrained eye.

Riku ducked low, swept forward with a spinning heel kick, then twisted his palm to activate Echo Delay. His heel connected—visibly missing Gojo.

But a second later, the delayed impact struck, bam!—Gojo's ribs absorbed the phantom force, and he was launched back, crashing through two reinforced stone pillars.

"Ow," Gojo coughed, emerging with a smear of blood at his lip. "Didn't see that coming."

Riku was already on him, blitzing forward with Flash Step, each strike surgically precise. Gojo blocked one, then another—but Riku's rhythm was chaos, his patterns unreadable.

Another blow landed—Gravity Reflection triggered this time—Gojo's own kinetic force rebounding against him.

He was sent skyward.

Gojo twisted midair, laughing. "You really are interesting, Riku!"

He raised one hand.

Blue.

A massive surge of negative space burst into existence—crushing, warping, dragging everything toward its center. Trees snapped. Earth buckled. The sky seemed to bend inward.

Riku threw a palm forward and coated it in cursed energy, then bent low into a stance.

"Gravity Reflection."

He slammed his foot down.

The gravitational pull was thrown back on itself—inverted—and the terrain exploded upward in retaliation, hurling debris and shockwaves through the sky. Riku leapt through the chaos, arm drawn back, fists glowing.

Gojo's eyes flashed.

Red.

A sudden blast of repulsive energy screamed forward like a bomb. Riku crossed his arms in front of him, Haki shielding him as the wave hit—blasting apart the landscape and hurling him backwards through a half-collapsed archway.

He rolled once, twice, then landed on one knee, breathing steady.

Gojo hovered above, fingers held in a shifting pattern.

"You've seen this, haven't you?" Gojo asked, forming the signs. "The fusion of impossible forces."

Riku's eyes widened slightly.

"Blue… Red…"

Hollow Purple.

A sphere of spiraling annihilation formed in Gojo's hand—space ripping around it, the air screaming. It launched forward, a streak of death across the battlefield.

Riku vanished with Flash Step—reappearing behind Gojo instantly.

Gojo turned, grin wide.

Too late.

Riku slammed both palms into Gojo's back.

"Echo Delay."

He blinked out again, just as the phantom impact took effect—Gojo staggered forward, barely catching himself.

But Hollow Purple hadn't stopped. It tore through the mountain ridge in the distance, erasing it entirely.

"Damn," Riku muttered, wiping sweat from his brow. "If that hit me—"

"You'd die," Gojo said with a grin, "but lucky for you—it didn't hit."

Riku smiled faintly. "You're fast. But you're not untouchable."

"Oh, I know," Gojo replied. "That's why this is fun."

He dropped into a stance, aura flaring. "Show me more. Show me what your Mirrorbound Domain really is."

Riku's cursed energy flared, pulsing like a heartbeat, dark and reflective. Cracks of silver light shimmered behind him as a mirrored frame began to form—like a second world trying to emerge.

"I'm not ready to unleash all of it yet," Riku said quietly. "But I'll show you a glimpse."

He raised his hand.

The air warped.

Gojo's own next movement suddenly lagged—a mirror version of himself appearing a split-second before he moved, showing Riku what was coming before it happened.

Gojo grinned. "Pre-echoes of intent… You're watching my choices before I make them."

Riku vanished again.

Behind Gojo—above—below—every angle.

A dozen fake-outs. A dozen reflections. The battlefield became a kaleidoscope of movement, energy, and mirrored ghosts of possibility.

Gojo finally let out a long breath.

And then clapped.

"Well," he said, as the dust settled and the energy died down, "that was exhilarating."

Riku stood across the field, arms still coated with Haki, breathing controlled. "I could've done more."

"I know," Gojo replied, voice quieter now. "But even holding back… you've proven something."

He stepped forward, lowering his blindfold.

"You're not just strong, Riku. You're dangerous. In a good way."

"…You going to keep watching me?"

"Of course. That's my job."

Riku exhaled and looked at his hands. "I didn't lose."

Gojo smiled. "You didn't win either."

They both laughed.

From the building above, Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara stood watching, stunned.

"Did… did you see that?!" Yuji shouted.

"He fought Gojo-sensei… like, for real!" Nobara muttered.

Megumi narrowed his eyes. "He didn't even use his full Domain."

In the clearing below, Riku turned his head slightly and smirked.

"I'll show you next time," he whispered.
