Chapter 39: The Blooming of Broken Lilies
My old strength had returned. But Davina's delicate body wasn't yet ready to handle it fully. I couldn't access the entirety of my potential—at least not yet.
First, I needed to subdue this lunatic.
Jasper crawled toward me again, trying to pin me beneath his body.
I braced my left hand against my right and shoved with all the force I could muster, straight into his face. That gave me just enough room to plant a foot against his hip and push myself out of his grasp.
"Davina!" He roared, grabbing my wrist in another attempt to force me down.
Not this time.
I twisted, dug the heel of my other foot into his hip, and leveraged myself upward. My knee slammed into his chest, forcing him back.
I coiled my leg and kicked hard, landing a solid blow to his ribs that sent him crashing onto his back with a strangled gasp of pain.
