Now, with Callum finally stable, I stood in the hospital corridor, the fluorescent lights buzzing faintly overhead. My coat hung over my arm, untouched. I should've left hours ago.
But I couldn't move.
Not just because of Callum, but because of Damian.
The thought wouldn't leave me. Wouldn't give me a second of peace.
Alive.
He's alive.
Every corner I turned, every glance over my shoulder—I felt it. That dread, heavy and crawling. Like he was near. Like he never left.
He'd tormented my life once. And now… now it was happening all over again.
My fingers trembled slightly as I reached for the coat I hadn't touched in hours.
I needed air. Space. A world without monitors and IV drips and this choking silence. I was just about to step out when my phone rang.
Mariah.
I blinked at the screen before answering. "What is it?"
Her voice came fast, urgent. "You need to come in. Now. There's a situation."
My stomach tightened. "What kind of situation?"
