Chapter 29 - Mercenaries

The Elves, recognized as the galaxy's second-strongest nation, commanded an immense force of advanced combat robots known as Mercenaries.

These mechanical warriors were categorized by class, from the most basic Scrap to the superior Grand class. While formidable, a Grand class mercenary can defeat a heavenly 5 stage warrior but couldn't surpass the might of a Celestial warrior.

It was widely known that no Mercenary, regardless of its class, could stand a chance against a Celestial 1 stage or above warrior, leading to the Mercenaries often being underrated.

It is also known that a Celestial 1 stage warrior could effortlessly neutralize ten Grand class mercenaries. Furthermore, only Elite and Grand stage mercenaries possessed the ability to use skills, and even then, they were limited to a maximum of three. In stark contrast to a Celestial 1 stage warrior, who could wield an impressive ten skills...

...Despite these limitations and their frequent deployment as cannon fodder, Mercenaries undeniably served a crucial role in every battle.

And now... Sunny had just received a detailed briefing on these robotic forces.

"Is that all?" he inquired.

"Yes…" Nioh nodded.

"Their price?" Sunny asked again.

"I checked it last… A Scrap class mercenary costs 1,000 galaxy crystals, a Common class is 5,000. Rare class is 10,000. Elite class… 50,000! And finally, Grand class, which is 100,000 galaxy crystals each!!" Nioh stated, outlining the varying costs.

"Do these mercenaries offer any advantages?" Sunny pressed.

"Hmm…" Nioh pondered for a moment before nodding. "The Elite and Grand class Mercenaries can use skills, elemental skills… Yes! they can face anyone, except those of Celestial rank or higher."

Sunny nodded again and stood up. "Good… When you're finished, get some rest." He placed a reassuring hand on Nioh's shoulder. "And don't worry, your name and face have been erased from the dark web; no one will be pursuing you." Nioh nodded in acknowledgment. Sunny walked towards the door, then paused. "I'll give you tonight to consider. You can leave us and live your own life, but if you choose to follow me, leaving won't be easy."

Before Sunny could take another step, the system's voice resounded, and a screen materialized before him.

{Master has proven himself by completing the last quests so easily.}

{So master will be given a super quest.}

'Super… What?!!' Sunny was momentarily stunned.

{New Quest: Master must spend ten trillion in 14 days.}

{Failure to complete it will result in your strength being deducted by half.}

'Can I refuse it?!!'

{Master cannot reject Super quests.}

Sunny let out a soft sigh. 'I already completed the first quest and received valuable rewards. I even opened the gift box and fortunately gained a new Grand class skill… Rock Defense… This super quest will surely yield excellent rewards.' He glanced over his shoulder at Nioh, then turned to face him.

"Nioh," he called out to the man, who was pouring himself another glass of wine.

"Yes, my king?" Nioh turned, holding his wine-filled cup.

"I need you, Nicolas, and Blood Eye to visit the Elves' nation." Sunny instructed.

"What is the mission, my king?" Nioh inquired.

"You are to purchase one hundred million Grand class Mercenaries."

"....???"

PIFFFF!!!

Nioh spluttered the wine he had just drunk, staring at Sunny as if he were a demon. Even the system seemed taken aback.

"Ahem." Nioh coughed. "My king, I… I don't believe the Elves possess such a quantity." he stammered.

"Then acquire all the mercenaries they have available. I need every single one! Let me know when you're ready to transfer the payment." Sunny turned and exited the hall, leaving a bewildered Nioh behind.

'There's no way I'm leaving the god of wealth… You employed me, and I'm here forever.' Nioh thought with a smirk.

_____

[Beastify Nation.]

BAM!

Xanor kicked open his door and stormed inside, his face contorted with fury. "That bitch!! She dared speak to me in such a manner, and in front of those fools!!" he spat, throwing his sheathed sword onto the table.

"No… No… No! I won't allow this!"

He strode towards the cupboard and opened it, his gaze fixed on the cloak within. He retrieved the black cloak and donned it, then took a red dagger and concealed it within his attire. "Josephine, I will watch as you crawl to my feet, begging for mercy." He turned and headed for the exit, closing the door behind him.

______

Hundreds of kilometers from the Beastify Nation, a vast horde of Wendigos marched toward the city. Their red eyes were fixed on their path. Behind them, atop a moving carriage, sat an armored Wendigo. This Wendigo was unlike the mindless others, who were driven solely by hunger.

This was an Elite! The Wendigos' general, stationed on planet Zax with a singular purpose: food. His primary mission was to hunt the inhabitants of planet Zax and deliver them to his nation as sustenance. He should have been at his base, issuing commands, but upon hearing that the Beastify Nation's queen had killed his nephew, he mobilized all his soldiers and was now advancing toward the city.

WHOOSH!!

WHOOSH!!

The Wendigos halted their march, hearing a distant sound. The general stood, his gaze fixed on the horizon, as a massive black werewolf rushed toward them. Seeing the werewolf, he raised his hand, signaling the Wendigos not to attack. They all waited.

The werewolf stopped before them and transformed into a Beastify human, complete with wolf's ears and a tail, cloaked in black.

"What's taking you guys so long?!" he spat.

The general's expression hardened. "Speak to me with respect!" He stomped his foot on the ground, unleashing his pressure upon the figure.

"....?!" The Wendigos' general was momentarily taken aback.

The figure raised his head, completely unaffected by the pressure.

"You?!" The Wendigo was stunned.

"Yes… How can a mere Heavenly Stage 1 Wendigo pressure me with its celestial energy?" he asked.

"So you've broken through into the fifth stage of the Heavenly Rank… No matter." The Wendigo general settled back down. "Why are you here, Xanor?!" he asked calmly.

"To bring good news." Xanor said with a smile.
