The news reporter continued on the screen:
"The day before yesterday, in New Switzerland, a grand official party was hosted by YAYA Company—one of the vastest business empires in Europe. During the event, a major revelation stunned the attendees."
"On stage for the keynote speech, Elena Berge declared herself the Chairperson of YAYA Company. It shocked everyone, as she was known to operate entirely behind masks or proxies. Since the mysterious death of the company's Founder, invitations to YAYA's events always involved masquerade themes. No one had ever seen the face behind the leadership."
Amber sat frozen on the couch, eyes fixed on the screen.
"Initially, Elena Berge—Founder of Watch-Out Company—claimed to be there by invitation. But her arrival raised suspicions, especially when it was revealed the event was not a masquerade. Then, as the host of the evening was called to the stage, guests began whispering: 'Is that person finally going to appear?'"
"To their utter surprise, it was Elena who stepped forward, revealing herself as the Chairperson of YAYA Company."
Amber's eyes widened.
"What the fck?! That's insane! Then what I've heard from people in the Vane... that Boss controls everything? Sht!!"
The reporter continued, her tone shifting into gravity.
"It has now been confirmed that before the founder's murder, the position of Chairperson had already been legally transferred to Elena Berge. However, only the Swiss authorities and select Asian investigators knew of her identity, under strict confidentiality, at the founder's request."
"Franz Stedelen, the founder's biological son, was believed to be the heir—but was excluded from succession. Enraged, Franz allegedly murdered his father. But recently uncovered evidence suggests a different truth. Yesterday, records surfaced showing that Elena was officially designated as the rightful heir. This supports the Watch-Out Company's growing alignment with YAYA."
Amber's hands clenched the sofa cushion.
"Hush… That's because I killed the old man," she whispered coldly.
"I framed poor Franz. He did lose his temper—but he didn't kill his father. I did it... for the Boss. And only the Boss should control the companies we capture…"
Meanwhile — Meeting Tower, Black Vane
Inside the blackened chamber, tension thickened.
Thomas Oak stood, a hint of defiance in his voice.
"But Boss… if we kill Dark, it will jeopardize future missions. She's useful."
The Boss leaned forward.
"We'll manage. The same way you're using her for your mission, others can be replaced. She left—betrayed us—and stained our reputation. Regarding your transfer to another location… I know you acted out of fear. Fear of exposure. Of them finding out."
His eyes narrowed into slits.
"From tomorrow, all your sensitive information will be publicly exposed to the entire Vane. So be careful, Thomas. Very careful."
The room froze as a shrill ringing sound echoed.
"Whose phone is that?" someone asked, panic tightening their voice.
"Boss… may I?" Thomas hesitated.
The Boss glared. "So it's yours. Fine. Go."
"No, Boss," Crimson Night interjected smoothly.
"I don't think we should let him leave. If we're exposing his secrets, shouldn't we also know who he's calling?"
"She's right," said one of the male heads, nodding.
"Let's find out who this mysterious caller is, Monsieur Thomas."
Thomas quickly tried to hide the screen. Too late.
Crimson Night snatched the phone from his hand.
"Let's see…" She turned the screen for all to view.
"Ariadne Oak?" the room echoed.
"Who is she?"
"Sounds French… or Italian?"
Crimson Night's eyes gleamed behind her black goggles.
"That caller," she declared coldly, "is his daughter. And our betrayal… Dark."
Silence.
Not one voice dared respond.
