Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: God, I Beg You—Don’t Let Him Go Up!

As the stone was prepared for cutting, curious onlookers began to crowd around. Word had spread fast—someone had just purchased a four-million-yuan stone and was about to have it sliced open. In the world of jadeite gambling, that was enough to draw a crowd of thrill-seekers, buyers, and professional appraisers alike.

The cutter examined the texture carefully, running his fingers across the coarse surface before choosing a spot to make the first incision. With practiced precision, he lowered the blade and began to slice along the stone's weathered outer skin.

The grinding sound of stone meeting blade echoed in the market.

Then—

A flash of green emerged from the fresh cut.

Gasps spread through the crowd.

"Green! He's hit green!"

"It's rising!"

An elderly man in the crowd leaned forward for a better look, his experienced eyes gleaming. "It's ice jadeite, and very translucent at that. It's almost reaching glass grade! In the current market, a bracelet made from this kind of jade could sell for hundreds of thousands."

Standing at the back of the group, Adam's heart skipped a beat.

"Wait—this stone is that valuable?"

Another expert chimed in, as if hearing his inner thoughts. "Of course, the final value depends on the consistency of the jade and its water content. If the entire piece is ice jadeite of this quality, it could fetch over 50 million. But don't get your hopes up. In all my decades in this trade, I've only seen one or two stones that delivered all the way."

Adam exhaled a breath of relief.

"Okay, it's rare. Not impossible, but rare. A little green won't kill me. He might make a small profit—but he'll still lose overall."

Just then, the same expert turned toward Rayden and offered a deal. "Young man, I'll buy the stone as it is—1.5 million, cash."

Rayden smiled faintly. "Thanks, but not for sale. Master, keep cutting."

The cutter continued his work, more delicately this time. With greater care, he shaved off another slice along the skin of the stone.

Another vivid green appeared.

The crowd erupted again.

"It's green again! Still ice-grade!"

"It's looking better and better. This is definitely going up!"

The expert's face lit up. "A second green vein and still high quality... young man, I'll offer you 3 million."

Rachel blinked, a mix of surprise and excitement lighting up her features.

Adam, however, felt a chill run down his spine.

He's making money.

The man he hoped would walk away with a loss... had already been offered 3 million. That meant if Rayden took the deal, he'd only lose one million.

It wasn't the defeat Adam had hoped for—but at least it was still a loss.

He consoled himself, muttering under his breath, "A small loss is still a loss. As long as he doesn't profit, it's fine."

Rayden once again waved off the offer, calm and composed. "I bought it for four million. Three won't do. Let's keep going."

The expert frowned slightly. "Son, you should really consider. Yes, it looks good now, but jadeite gambling is volatile. One good slice doesn't guarantee the next. If you keep going and the color disappears, you'll lose even more."

Rayden smiled. "I can afford to lose a few million. Keep cutting."

The cutter nodded and carefully peeled back another slice.

Green. Again.

And not just any green—another streak of vibrant, translucent ice jade.

The third consecutive green cut brought gasps from the growing audience.

"Three greens in a row?!"

"It's still ice jadeite—unbelievable!"

A small commotion broke out as more people forced their way closer, eager to see the miraculous stone.

"I'll pay four million!" shouted a newcomer.

"I'll go four and a half!"

"Five million!"

...

The bidding escalated rapidly. In less than a minute, the stone's value reached eight million, doubling the original purchase price.

Rachel grabbed Rayden's arm with excitement. "Sell it now. We'll walk away with four million in profit!"

Rayden remained serene, shaking his head. "Let the price fly a little longer. Master, keep cutting."

Adam was dying inside.

How? HOW?

This was supposed to be a loss. A disaster! He had planned it so perfectly!

Every time the blade hit the stone, a fresh green glistened under the market lights.

"Still green!"

"This guy's luck is unreal!"

"It's all ice jadeite—no fractures, no flaws!"

Each new slice added millions to the stone's estimated value.

"I'll offer 10 million!"

"I'll give 15 million!"

"20 million, on the spot!"

Adam's jaw clenched so hard he thought his teeth might crack.

His fists balled in rage.

"Why?! Why is this happening?!"

The more green appeared, the more the price skyrocketed—and the darker Adam's expression grew.

Each slice of jade exposed felt like a stab to the chest.

"Please," he muttered to himself, trembling slightly. "Just stop. Please don't let it go any higher."

He tilted his head back and looked at the ceiling of the market like he was praying to the heavens.

"God, I beg you... don't let him go up anymore!"

But the heavens were silent.

The final cut was made.

The crowd fell silent in awe.

Before them lay a perfectly round, flawless core of ice jadeite, so pure and translucent it seemed to glow from within.

No inclusions. No cracks. A complete, polished stone of extraordinary quality.

"It's whole!"

"It's flawless!"

"Ice-grade, all the way through!"

"Absolutely stunning... this is a generational treasure!"

Rayden held the gem up to the light, its cool hue shimmering across his palm.

And then, chaos broke out.

"I'll offer 40 million!"

"45 million!"

"Don't be ridiculous! I'll pay 50!"

"60 million!"

...

The bids flew fast and furious, with wealthy collectors and dealers practically elbowing each other out of the way.

Rayden stood still amidst the storm of offers, the stone cradled carefully in his hands, a faint smile playing at the corners of his lips.

Rachel looked like she might pass out from the shock.

Adam, on the other hand?

He nearly collapsed.

His legs wobbled. His face turned an ashen gray. He had to grip the edge of a nearby stall just to stay upright.

"Sixty million..."

"He made over fifteen times his investment..."

"I can't breathe."

If anyone had looked closely, they might've seen tears forming in the corners of his eyes.

The man he had tried so hard to sabotage had just scored the single greatest jadeite gamble of the year—maybe the decade.

He wanted to scream. Or faint. Or both.

But instead, he stood frozen, watching Rayden Wolfe bask in victory, surrounded by admirers and glowing green fortune.

"This isn't fair," Adam thought bitterly. "This wasn't supposed to happen."

And as Rayden smiled calmly, shaking hands with eager buyers and collecting new offers...

Adam could only whisper under his breath:

"God... please... just one loss. That's all I ask."
