I landed with a thud on the forest floor and try to look around to no avail. I try and move my arms so that I could sit up but feel pain and notice that I'm moving in almost slow motion. "Why am I moving so slow?! What's wrong with me?" System instantly responds *You still have the skill Resolute, Hope, and Will active. When the skill is active it blocks out all distraction, even I cannot interfere unless specifically called for Would you li- * Before system could continue, I hurriedly ask for them to disable the skill and almost instantly everything returns back to normal and there is a strong buzzing in the back of my mind. "Wow, now you alert me of nearby danger." I again tried to move and couldn't without being in a tremendous amount of pain. If I have ribs, I have no doubt they are for certain broken.
I look down and see that I have multiple holes in my body leaking various amounts of the green substance I'm assuming is blood. Well since I'm plant based, I'd assume its sap, but those are later questions. The areas surrounding the holes have quickly started turning brown, and other areas across the right side of my body are varying shades of green ranging from a sickly green to a dark almost black splotch. Luckily, I happened to land in an area not blocked by shade with a good amount of sunlight so I could use heal and go ahead and get that process going. I try to ignore the pain and get to a sitting position as I slowly heal and notice the lighter green splotches clearing away first before the darker ones.
Pain Resistance Skill acquired
*By ignoring the pain received from the previous att- * I interrupt system before they continue, " Yeah, yeah. I received the skill because I ignored the pain I'm in and it will help to lessen the pain I'll feel from attacks later in the future, I can understand this one. *I then begin to use regeneration and actually watch this time as patches of leaves begin to grow around and over the holes left in my body. Slowly the leaves turn brown and begin to fall off revealing basically new skin underneath them and looking like i was never hurt in the first place.
Now that I'm sitting up and can focus on other things while my body self-heals and I collect mp in the sun, I look around and am shocked to see my assailant looking around the ground for something while furiously stomping whenever it snorted at something I couldn't see. It was a beautiful deer with green fur and flower patches growing all over its body. It had a decently big pair of horns that had dangerously sharp tips. Didn't take a rocket scientist to know what it was that I was hit by. * What's a rocket* "Not Now." I keep watching the deer and see that it trampled my beautiful rosebush that i had been working on, and yeah I could make another, but I didn't expect my first to be destroyed so soon! As I start to stand, I hear a loud noise made by the deer and see it start to furiously stomp the ground with its hooves. I then see it use its antlers to rake something across the ground and see it messing with a tiny pink spider.
"Ain't no way it's going through all that and decided to bash me across the forest and destroy my bush just because of some spider." I finally stand and prepare myself for a fight as the deer seems to have finished dealing with the spider and now is facing me while making grunting noises and scraping its hoof against the ground. I make note of the wide range its antlers can reach and tell myself to stay clear of them so that I won't get punctured again. "What are the deer's weaknesses? " *The weaknesses of a doliage tend to be near the pedicles, or the region where the horns grow, their soft underbelly, and their hindlegs or strikes from behind since they have limited vision due to the placement and broadness of their horns. Although later evolutions tend to find ways around those problems.
The deer, or doliage as system called it, charges at me and lowers its head in a way so that all the tips of its' horns pointed towards me. I jumped out of the way a little early so that I could try and use plant punch before it had time to recover and turn around. Surprisingly the doliage had already turned around and was charging at me once again. Remembering what system said I tried to pull shoots from the ground to try and pierce the belly of the beast. What appears is nothing like the rose bush, spikes, or the big vine I made previously. These vines were puny and weak. The doliage ran and trampled all over the, before again coming right towards me. This time as it got near and I prepared to dodge again it suddenly stopped and its horns began to glow.
*MOVE! * At the warning of system I run to the left this time and feel a piercing pain at the back of my left leg. I scream in pain and punch at the extended horn of the deer. " This shit fucking hurts man!" I Begin punching ta the spikes trying to break them all so that I could heal and try to run away again. I break the first one piercing my thigh and it elicits a loud bleat from the doliage. As I start to try and break the second one, I am lifted from the ground and immediately slammed back down. I cough and feel like again that I can't breathe. "What is up with this beast constantly knocking the wind out of me?!" Luckily by the end of the slam, whether by choice or due to the physicality of the attack, the remaining two antlers have broken, and my body is already pushing the remaining bits out.
Warning Health has fallen below 50%
This is some BS. I Stand and start to use heal as I lean against a nearby tree and stare back at the heavily breathing animal. *Healing has failed. * My eyes go wide, and I immediately start asking all kinds of questions. "What do you mean healing has failed. I thought healing couldn't fail! What am I going to do? Huh? I'm already below fifty percent health! " System responds hurriedly and tells me that since I haven't killed or beaten and absorbed anything, and the fact that I've had to use heal already a lot in such a short period of time that I'm running low on mana and unable to cast the skill. WTF. Like honestly, I have no response to that. Here I am in a life-or-death situation and I'm almost out of mp. What kind of bullshit is that. "What am I supposed to do, I can't heal, I can't absorb it because it isn't dead, I have no weapons, and almost all of my skills need mp?!"
* The only option you seem to have left is to use plant manipulation since it only draws on stamina and you seem to have a fairly high amount of it left. * I Listen to system as the deer seeming to have regained its breath looks like its preparing to launch another attack towards me. I explain to system that I can't do it because there is too much thought that goes into making the vines and plants that come with Phytokinesis. *It is only difficult to do because you make it so. The skill is your personal skill made for you, it is not about being perfect like the flower you made earlier, it is simply about existing and bending it to your will, that is how your skill is meant to be used. * After listening to system, I feel a sense of awe building inside me. "You mean that all I have to do is imagine it and it'll become reality?" *As long as you have the stamina to back it then yes. *
This time I get ready much faster than before and I absolutely refuse to use that God forsaken focus skill. I try to stop my heart from beating so fast and push away all negative thoughts that are clouding my mind. System says that I can do anything around me with the surrounding plant life as long as I have stamina and an imagination. Could I make a city, or a coffee bar? Wait, now's not the time, Focus! Earlier I was trying to make the rose bush as perfect as possible, I thought about all the stems and all the petals, leaves, everything about the bush as individuals and I saw it growing in my head. While it was very nice to focus on, and happened to come out beautifully, maybe I could skip some of the steps and make something almost instantly. I shouldn't think about what fills the vine or branch, I know they're solid. I also shouldn't think about the color or structure, I should just do. And maybe if I just do then maybe the vine will just exist!
This time I am prepared for the deer to charge at me. I gather myself as much as possible for a person whose about to use a skill for the second time that they barely understand and aren't sure if it'll end in life or more than likely death. As the deer grinds its hoof against the ground and makes a loud bleating noise, I steel myself for what could be my last day. The deer charges at me and I wait for just a bit as the doliage draws closer to me. I blink, release I think the longest breath ever, and I feel my heart start to beat. Then I throw my right arm out in front of me and suddenly the deer's entire head and neck are gone in a decently sized explosion! I look in shock as the body just stumbles a bit and then falls to the ground slumped beside a decently wide brown root with purple cracks in it and a charred end.
"What the fuck? Like what in the actual shit just happened?" I run to the still moving body of the deer on the ground and realize that its convulsing. What an actually sad thing to see, you only see stuff like this in movies but in real life its way worse, and the smell is awful. I notice that the explosion basically cauterized the area where the neck and head should be attached except for a few areas slowly oozing a blackish-green liquid from cracks in the burn. I cover my nose because the smell is so bad. I had never smelt something so bad before, not in my previous life anyways. I reach my hand out and use absorb as the limbs of the deer finally stop moving.
As my hand wrapped around the deer and the absorption process starts, nothing could have prepared me for the crunching sound that would follow. It was much worse than when I absorbed the snake. maybe because the deer was larger, but they made extremely loud cracking and popping noises. It was extremely unsettling. Luckily though, no blood seeped through this time so at least I didn't have to see any of that unlike the first time. As I finish absorbing the deer I get a buttload of messages all around me.
