[Third POV, Year 2001, September 11th, Stark Mansion]
"Oh my, I think I may have found something suspicious!"
"What? Show us!"
"Right away!"
Two hours had flown by for Adrian and Tony, who were currently playing Crash Team Racing, as they were somewhat tired and bored from just watching people come and go to their flights. Unfortunately or maybe good luck, 343 Guilty Spark had just detected something suspicious at one of the airports.
Obeying Adrian's order, Spark quickly showed a projection that was one of the current security camera feed from the airport. On screen, a man was seen being escorted by someone from the security staff.
"What happened? Explain it, Spark."
"The thing is, I'm not entirely sure myself. The man didn't appear suspicious on his own, and from what his luggage contained, there was no apparent reason for him to be detained or escorted. But for some reason, this member of the security staff decided suddenly to stop him and ordered him to follow."
"Spark, analyze the detained individual and search for signs, marks, tattoos—anything written or drawn on him or his belongings."
The image zoomed in and was enhanced by Spark, who recreated a clear tiled visual of the man. Seconds later, the man's left arm was highlighted, revealing a tattoo which prompted Tony to speak.
"A black Skull with some weird sign below it? Jarvis, search for information related to it."
"Yes, sir. Based on what I found, it's Arabic text. It says 'Dead' below a skull."
The projection changed from the tattoo to outside a room where the man was being led.
"Maybe security just found him suspicious due to general tension? It might be bad luck for that guy, but considering he could be a terrorist, it's good luck for—"
"Wait. The fuck?"
Tony was cut off mid-thought by Adrian's sudden exclamation. The man with the tattoo had just exited the room and was now walking again, being escorted, this time toward the boarding gates.
"They weren't in the room for more than a minute! Something's wrong. Spark, quickly contact other airport security and warn them of this two!"
"Contact with security staff initiated. I'll use one of the radios connected to a computer and alert staff guarding every plane door to check every male for a tattoo with a black dot on the left arm no matter if they are being escorted by another member of the staff."
And just as Spark said, he instantly warned all security and relevant personnel at the airport, posing as one of the managers.
The projection then changed to another camera angle, showing the tattooed man and the security guard now facing each other after hearing the radio warning.
Unfortunately, the camera had no audio, but Spark was able to deduce part of the conversation by reading their lips and transcribing what he could decipher into text.
"Now... Plan... change... another... Looks like they're going for Plan B? Sadly, even with Jarvis and Spark, we can't decipher everything they're saying. Shitty cameras. I'm making my next project about upgrading them."
"From musician to camera guy? Already hitting rock bottom?" Tony joked. "Relax, kid. Now we need to warn the other airports. Jarvis, your turn."
Jarvis performed a similar action on a wider scale, warning all major airports about people who might have the same or similar tattoos. Meanwhile, Adrian looked back at the feed showing the man with the tattoo.
"Tony, it looks like the guy is trying to leave the airport."
"Don't worry. Jarvis contacted the authorities the moment you ordered Spark to alert the staff."
"Good. Spark, now tell security the man's current location and to watch out for employee-only doors. He's colluding with a staff member so they could use them as a escape route."
"Task in action. Alerting security inmediatedly."
With the rest of the staff alerted, it was only a matter of time before the tattooed man and his accomplice were caught, which happened minutes later. Security and authorities apprehended both and took them away swiftly—destination unknown.
The hours passed. Three more individuals were apprehended that day.
Eventually, 8:00 p.m. rolled in, and nothing else seemed to occur—at least not that day. Tony cracked a joke.
"Well, today was a productive day, don't you think, kid? Saving the U.S. from one of the worst possible terrorist attacks in human history— i think is not bad for an anecdote ."
"I guess so. But we can't lower our guard yet. We should keep watch for retries over the next few days."
"Of course. Though this organization really has balls trying this crap... I'll let them see the might of Stark Industries and its weapons."
With a more serious tone, Tony pulled up a projection of his armor.
"You know, we should try making it portable as soon as possible. Imagine someone pulls something and you're not around to suit me up. Maybe find a way to send the parts flying toward me?"
"That's a good idea, but it'll take time. Maybe we can start with a suitcase version while we figure out how to send it remotely."
"Oh! Now that I remember, I asked Spark—and he said you had something interesting under your nose."
While Tony was busy adding notes to the armor projection like Possible direction: remotely send parts and control them, he turned to Adrian, intrigued.
"If you're talking about my mustache and beard, I can only say Spark has peculiar but refined taste."
"What? No. I'm talking about something your father made. Show him, Spark."
Suddenly, an image of a certain structure appeared, specifically a city model.
"My old man? What the hell could he have made that's considered interesting? This is just that supposedly 'city of the future' crap he designed for the Stark Expo, right?"
"Yeah, but I had a sort of... epiphany while looking at it. Care to take me and fetch the model?"
"You really wanna go and grab that old thing? whatever, i'll ask Happy to bring it here after he leaves you back in your house"
