A WEEK LATER
XAVIER'S POINT OF VIEW:
I sat back on the couch, trying to keep my cool, but my nerves buzzed like a live wire. Jaxon and Michael were here, visiting Terrence, my little four year old, and I wasn't about to let them mess this up. Terrence was giggling, completely unaware of the storm brewing just a few feet away. He was playing with his toy cars on the floor, his small hands moving them around like a pro driver. Adrian was close by, eyes sharp, never taking his gaze off those two like a hawk guarding its nest. Jaxon crouched down to Terrence's level, a fake smile plastered on.
"Hey, champ! Want to race?"Jaxon asked.
Terrence looked up, beaming. I could tell how happy he is. It's clear that our baby boy is enjoying their company. Even though I do not like Jaxon and Michael around I need to handle feelings.
"Yes! Faster, faster!"Terrence said.
