Wen Yang, the model student, skipped class.
He brought Ning Chu and the wolf girl to a secluded corner on the second floor of the cafeteria.
Wen Yang had a serious look on his face, still struggling to believe what had just happened.
The wolf girl kept her head down, looking dejected, while Ning Chu stared blankly at the table, feeling utterly defeated.
How did this suddenly turn into a plot trigger?
He'd been cautious of the succubus Lily, worried that Wen Yang might get involved with her, and he'd noticed the abnormal behavior of the counselor, fearing he might end up as a victim in the story.
Everything should have gone smoothly!
How did this wolf girl suddenly appear and drag him into the plot by force?
In the novel, the counselor had used scholarship offers as blackmail, but it was only a month and a half into the semester—where would the scholarship come from now?
And the book never mentioned the victim having beast-like characteristics!
Ning Chu almost wanted to cry, torn between going along with the plot and dragging Wen Yang away to avoid getting involved.
After all, this was just an unfamiliar background character...
But looking at the wolf girl's pitiful state, he couldn't bring himself to make a decision.
If that scumbag Han Jingye succeeded, this girl's future would be ruined.
He could only hope that this time, transforming wouldn't mean he'd immediately turn into a girl.
"Um~ What's your name again~?" Ning Chu asked listlessly. "I don't even know you..."
"Yan Xinya."
Compared to the perfunctory names given to most supporting female characters in light novels, the wolf girl's name sounded much nicer.
Ning Chu mumbled a soft acknowledgment and turned his gaze to Wen Yang.
Wen Yang was still in shock.
He'd been teasing Ning Chu, saying Han Jingye was a pervert, but it turned out he was right?
He couldn't help but feel a chill. Knowing Ning Chu's personality, if he were harassed, he'd probably keep it to himself instead of seeking help like the wolf girl did.
"Why did you come to me?" Wen Yang asked, blushing with embarrassment. "I don't think I can really help..."
Yan Xinya's expression grew even more downcast, and her shoulders trembled. "I told my roommates, but they didn't believe me. They even thought I was the one being proactive."
"I also reported it to the police, but..."
The wolf girl's words were cut off by Ning Chu. "Don't worry. Wen Yang's here, so it'll be solved."
"???"
Wen Yang looked at Ning Chu in confusion.
Wait, what? He's just an ordinary person—what could he do?
"What's wrong? You don't want to help?"
"It's not that... It's just that I need to know what's going on first."
Wen Yang awkwardly scratched his head.
Other than being popular with girls, there didn't seem to be anything special about him that would warrant such confidence from Ning Chu, right?
Yan Xinya hunched over, her fingers intertwined, hesitating to speak.
Ning Chu sighed deeply, laying his head on the table in a more dejected posture than the wolf girl's. "Did it start with chatting online? He was concerned about your daily life...?"
Yan Xinya paused, then nodded.
"Can you show us the chat logs?"
"I deleted them... He said he'd stop bothering me if I deleted them." The wolf girl placed her phone on the table.
After a moment, she continued, "When I reported it to the police, they contacted him, but without evidence..."
"I thought about it, and if I don't speak up, this will happen to other girls too... But I don't know what to do on my own."
"So, reporting it did have an effect—it's just that there was no evidence," Ning Chu murmured.
After his successful tip-off about the villa party, he'd realized that law enforcement in this world was still pretty effective.
Outside the scope of the novel's plot, everything else seemed normal.
It wasn't like strange things never happened in his past world either—there were always some outrageous stories in the news or online.
Unfortunately, he was a character in the story now, trapped inside it and unable to escape.
"Well..." Wen Yang sighed, putting down the phone. "I tried to , but I couldn't recover the chat logs. I'll try using some software on my computer when we get back to the dorm."
The built-in chat recovery function hadn't worked, so he'd have to use software on his computer as a last resort.
"I don't think we need to overcomplicate this. Evidence would be great, but if we don't have it, that's fine too," Ning Chu said, straightening up. "How about you report it to the police?"
"Me?"
"Yeah, you should report it. Maybe it'll work out!"
Wen Yang laughed awkwardly. "What makes you think I can do that?"
Because you're the main character, the chosen one, protected by the protagonist's halo!
Ning Chu looked at Wen Yang with an encouraging gaze, making him feel even more self-conscious.
He didn't understand where Ning Chu's confidence in him came from.
Was it because Ning Chu saw him as someone capable of anything?!
"You've got this!"
Ning Chu's big, sparkling eyes were full of anticipation as they looked up at him.
At that moment, Wen Yang felt almost invincible.
It was the first time he'd encountered something like this, but his nervousness gradually faded, replaced by a newfound sense of confidence. "Okay, I'll give it a shot and report it."
"If it doesn't work, we'll blow this whole thing up! There's no way they can ignore it!"
"Right!" Ning Chu nodded in agreement. "I almost got caught up in this too!"
Hearing that fired Wen Yang up even more.
He looked briefly terrified, then clenched his teeth and said, "We have to get that guy locked up!"
"Let him rot!"
Yan Xinya noticed that the two of them seemed more worked up than she was.
She felt deeply grateful and repeatedly said, "Thank you, thank you..."
"Don't thank us. Just make sure you don't talk to Wen Yang anymore," Ning Chu added, subtly eliminating any potential threat.
"Okay! He's all yours!" Yan Xinya nodded obediently. "I won't get in the way."
"???"
