In the end, even Yan Yan was implicated.
"Enough. We're all from the same village—I don't want to hear any more quarreling. Shisui, let this be a lesson. Don't let it happen again," Yan scolded them harshly.
"Yes,"
Seeing Yan's stern expression, both Shisui and Zhiyan fell silent and nodded in agreement.
A pain that couldn't be forgotten. Once upon a time, Kakashi lost an eye, and Obito left his own to him—his final gift. And now, Kakashi had failed to protect that precious gift. It had been taken from him—stolen.
Kakashi gasped for breath, his hand pressed tightly over his now-empty eye socket, blood seeping between his fingers.
"Kakashi?"
Tsunade, who had just arrived on the scene with a team of medical-nin and ANBU, spotted him crouched, covering his face, and approached with concern and suspicion.
"You were attacked?"
The feeling in her chest tightened. The sight of Kakashi like this nearly made her heart stop.
Kakashi struggled to stand, his voice hoarse and angry. "Uchiha Shisui came to retrieve Obito's Sharingan… and then Uchiha Hiko ambushed me. They took it."
The gathered shinobi around them were stunned. Murmurs broke out among the group.
"They actually attacked a fellow Leaf shinobi?!"
"What are they thinking?"
Tsunade's face darkened. Her expression grew grim, and her chest rose and fell quickly, her fists clenching.
"What the hell does that brat think he's doing?"
Just as they were making progress with the Fire Daimyō during the negotiations, this disaster had erupted. While Tsunade had led the diplomatic team to the Daming Mansion, things fell apart in Konoha.
Yan and Shisui had confronted Kakashi and taken back Obito's Sharingan by force.
Though they hadn't intended to harm Kakashi, an attack on a fellow shinobi—especially an ANBU captain—was still a severe offense.
Once the Third Hokage heard about this, there was no doubt he'd be furious.
"This little bastard," Tsunade growled under her breath, "is going to drive me insane."
"Enough. What's done is done. I'll handle it. I'll personally confront Uchiha Hiko and Shisui. Let's go."
Tsunade stormed off, her gait slightly unsteady as the adrenaline coursed through her. She wasn't just furious—she was shaken. Seeing Kakashi bloodied was something she didn't want to relive.
"Shizune, treat Kakashi. I'm going to find Yan."
She turned over Kakashi's care to Shizune and led the others back toward the temporary residence of the Uchiha clan.
Tsunade was livid. Even during such a crucial time, Hiko had committed an act that crossed the line.
Attacking a comrade—especially someone of Kakashi's status—was nearly treasonous.
He was the ANBU commander. This wasn't just a squabble. It was a declaration.
It wouldn't be long before word spread through the village.
"Alright. Everyone return to your stations. Fū, report this to the clan head. The rest of you, stand down. I'll handle the aftermath."
Back at the Uchiha residence, Yan had already cleaned up, washed the blood from his hands, and changed clothes. He carefully soaked Obito's Sharingan in a preservation solution, then sealed it into a scroll and tucked it away.
As expected, Tsunade arrived shortly after—storming through the courtyard gates.
"Uchiha Hiko!"
She found him sitting in the yard, pouring tea like nothing had happened.
"You're sitting here drinking tea?! After what you've done?!"
Tsunade's temper flared. Yan looked at her calmly, as if he had anticipated her arrival.
"You realize the gravity of what you've just done?"
Yan placed the teacup down slowly and looked up.
"Attacking a fellow Leaf shinobi is indeed serious, but I accept the consequences. I only did what I believed was right—for my clan. I retrieved something that belongs to Uchiha."
Whether such an act would be severely punished often depended on the village leadership. Since Kakashi wasn't critically harmed, and only the eye had been taken, the incident might still be contained.
Technically, the Sharingan didn't belong to Kakashi. It had always belonged to the Uchiha.
By clan custom, they had the right to reclaim stray dōjutsu from outside users.
But in recent times, Fūgaku had worked hard to suppress tensions for the sake of peace with the Third Hokage.
There had been heated internal debates within the Uchiha clan about this matter.
"You've got some nerve."
Every clan had its traditions. The Uchiha's rule about reclaiming the Sharingan wasn't without precedent. And Tsunade, much as she hated to admit it, couldn't fully argue against that.
She sat opposite Hiko, a dull pain behind her eyes.
"You have no idea what kind of consequences you've just set into motion. The old man already doesn't trust the Uchiha. Now you've given him a reason to double down."
"So, what do you suggest? Return the Sharingan? Go apologize and pretend nothing happened?" Yan replied with a bitter smirk.
"You…"
Tsunade nearly punched him.
"Listen to me. Until this mission is complete, you'll lie low. When we return to the village, I'll report this to the Hokage. But don't stir things up again. The fallout from this will hit fast."
She turned to leave but paused.
The news would spread like wildfire inside Konoha. Everyone in the shinobi community would know Uchiha had reclaimed Obito's Sharingan by force.
She couldn't stop the rumors, but at least she could try to limit the damage.
Back at the medical camp, Tsunade issued a simple order:
"How is Kakashi?"
"He's stable," Shizune reported. "The eye was removed roughly, but no serious damage beyond that. His chakra network is fine, though he's suffering some lingering disorientation from the genjutsu. Hiko's illusion is very strong."
That only confirmed what Yan had said. He came for the eye, not to harm Kakashi.
Tsunade nodded gravely and entered the room.
Kakashi was sitting quietly, left eye bandaged, his face pale and still.
"Don't get up," she said, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"How do you feel?"
"Thank you, Tsunade-sama… I'm fine. Just a bit disoriented," Kakashi replied weakly.
Shizune brought a chair. Tsunade sat down across from him.
"Tell me everything. I need the full story to report to the Hokage. Also… tell me what you want done."
Kakashi closed his eyes, his thoughts swirling.
After a long pause, he began.
"I was resting outside the capital. Shisui approached me. He asked me to return Obito's Sharingan to the Uchiha. I refused. He pressed further, and we fought. During our battle, Hiko's team appeared. I was caught in Hiko's genjutsu, and when I came to… the eye was gone."
His voice was steady, but beneath it, there was sorrow.
"So… they only came for the Sharingan. They didn't intend to hurt you?"
Kakashi nodded slowly.
"No killing intent. Shisui and the others… they held back. It was just the eye."
Tsunade leaned back, running a hand through her hair.
"This damned brat…"
She exhaled heavily.
"So what do you want? File charges? Demand Hiko apologize?"
Kakashi shook his head.
"I don't want an apology. Hiko did what he believed was right for his clan. But that Sharingan… it was Obito's final gift to me. I want it back."
He clenched his fist.
"It's all I have left of him. That, I won't let go of."
Tsunade studied him quietly.
He didn't want revenge.
Just the eye.
A relic of his teammate. His brother.
Just like any of them would do, to protect their clan's heritage, Kakashi would fight for what Obito left him.
Even if it meant facing Uchiha Hiko again.
