Uncle Mark and aunt Samantha looked at each other in fear. It looked like they never planned on telling me anything.

Aunt Samantha snapped her fingers to jolt me back from the trance I was.
'Sorry auntie, can you please tell me what's going on'
'Sure. You might not be ready for this but we think your father's death has something to do with our daughter's disappearance'
'What?!'
'Please be calm'
'I'm sorry, I was just surprised but please tell me why you think it's connected. I mean, my dad died like two years ago and your daughter was kidnapped recently'
'Harper, there's something we've kept from you all this while'.
'Huh?'
*** IN A DARK ROOM
'Did you kill her?'
The boss questioned a strange man as he kept on smoking.
'No boss, she got lucky'
'Lucky?! You know I hate that word!'
'I'm sorry boss'
The boss was fuming but then someone placed their hands on him, it was his daughter. She calmed her father down and gently played with a friendship bracelet on her hand.
'Daughter. You're here?'
'Yes dad. Don't you think it's time that I take over this case? Looks like you can't do it'
'Don't worry dear. Give me two more weeks and if I can't do it by then, you can take over'.
'I'll be waiting then'.
*** HARPER
'What have you kept from me uncle mark?'
'You see, your mother actually knows about it but she asked us to keep it a secret so that you wouldn't join the service but you eventually did so I might as well tell you now. It will help you in finding those who kill your dad'
'Please tell me'
'Okay. Two years ago, before your father died, he came to me. He told me he was working on a case but it wasn't approved by the government'
Why would dad do that?
'A case?'
'Yeah'
'What was it about?'
'That, I don't know. I didn't get a chance to know more about the case. He had told me before he died that the government were not to be trusted'
'The government?'
'Yeah. One of the reasons why the government hire secret agents is to erase their dirty deeds. They know that the police force wouldn't be of much help to them. Your father had been working on a case then. He didn't tell me at first but when he started receiving death threats, he had to tell me about it'
'Death threats? Who had been sending them? The government?'
'I don't know for sure but at that time, the government kept putting off an important case, giving all sorts of excuses to shut it down. Your father had decided to investigate but then, just as he started getting important clues, he was killed.
I told your mother everything but she told me to never tell anybody.
Your father's family were really greedy then, they left you all with nothing'.
I took a deep breath and tried to digest everything. This was a real surprise but it would really help me in finding my father's murderer.
'I still don't understand something though. How is this related to your daughter's disappearance?'
'I started working on that case Harper, on my own'
'But why?'
'I also wanted to know what the case was about but then just like your dad, I started getting death threats. I was threatened to stop investigating or trying to know more about it. The only reason I'm alive right now is because I still haven't figured out what the case is about. They couldn't get me and my wife but they got my daughter. I tried to look for her but then, I got a threat note saying they would harm my daughter if I didn't stop'
Aunt Samantha broke down again and Uncle mark tried to pacify her.
'I also got a note uncle'
'Really?'
'Yeah. They don't want me to take on your daughter's case'
'Then please stop Harper. If anything happens to you because of us then I would never forgive myself'
'Don't worry uncle. I know what I'm doing'
'But Harper...
'No buts uncle'
*I Can't tell him that I have no choice but to do all these*

'Please Harper. We'll try to look for her discreetly'
'Forget it uncle. You know very well that once I've set my eyes on something, I'll never let it go'.

The note was crumpled and just like the one I got, it was written in bold red ink.

The similarity of the note I got and this note couldn't be a coincidence.
'Uncle. Look at these papers very well'.
I brought out the note I was sent. I had disposed it but I went back to get it as it could serve as a clue.
'Harper, if you put this two notes in the sunlight...
The notes had the watermark of a symbol.
'That's the government symbol Harper!'
'Yeah, I've seen it before but I've also seen it somewhere else'
'Huh?'

I'm definitely sure I've seen it somewhere before and it's definitely not in this realm.
'Never mind uncle. Now we know that someone from inside is behind this'
'Yeah'.
'I should leave now but I'm making you both a promise'
'A promise?'
'Yes. I promise you that I'll find your daughter in two weeks'
'Two weeks? Harper....
'Don't worry. This is my promise to you'

I would definitely need their help in the days to come but I had to leave for now.
This mission just got more interesting.
