His name… was unknown. People just called him, the Doctor.
Sitting in a dark room, he wore a black mask that covered his entire face and the head. On the black mask, he additionally wore black glasses, one that were worn similar to the scuba divers.
Plus a red hat that simply seemed to have an aesthetic value to his overall get up.
He also wore black shirt and pants, with a long red open jacket that matched the colour of his hat.
Black gloves, a black watch, a black belt with a twin sword symbol and black boots. He was covered in black from top to bottom except the red jacket and the red hat he was wearing.
An Iconic person that one may hardly forget.
Under the dim light of the lamp, he looked at the papers that carried the experimental data with an unamused look. Even though there was initial success, it wasn't satisfactory to him at all.
With these special undying beings, he had two goals in mind.
One was the immortality that these guys possess.
The next was to visit the world that they were coming from.
But personally, the black masked guy wasn't interested in immortality. There were already beings with immortality in this world, and he had already experimented on a few of them, getting the answers that he wanted from it.
Honestly, the concept of Immortality bored him.
For him, the presence of a different world than the one he was in, felt far more exciting than this. And this was also the main goal for him.
In the initial experiment, it was impossible for him to send anyone through the players' bodies. Even when someone was possessing them, they couldn't go to the other side. And if they somehow tried to force it, the force suffocated them to death.
But then with another idea, that is to create mana pores in that player's psyche and soul, allowing them to partially use mana in their own world, there was a possibility that one can send minute 'thought fragments' in that world and obtain information.
"Disappointing."(The Doctor)
The Doctor mumbled under his breath as he saw the thought fragments barely brought back any information. Only a picture of darkness carrying another form of energy that wasn't present in this world.
Creating mana pores wasn't hard, but there was another fact that if the doctor went beyond a few percent, the soul starts disintegrating and the players die without further coming back to life.
In a way, the Doctor also found a way to kill the players for real, rendering them unable to return to life. It was a major breakthrough in a way, but the Doctor didn't really like that. He would rather have them come back to life so that he can do more experiments on them
"Redefine the variables. Increase the output of mana clearance and manadosing by 1, 2, 3, and 4%."(The Doctor)
The Doctor mumbled as once again began making adjustments to the experiments.
…
As the world of Zarraf going through rapid changes, the waves also reached the overworld where the players came from. In a way, from the perspective of the players, it was also the real world.
So for the sake of calling, we shall also call it [The Real World].
And within the [Real World]
"How can he not wake up? He was just fine yesterday!!!! What do you mean you don't know the cause behind this?!!!"
A woman in her 30s shouted outside the hospital room as her son, one of the players, lay in a coma unable to respond to any treatments or shock whatsoever.
According to her, he was just playing the game when he suddenly started gasping for air before passing out completely.
The mother had bought this game for the kid since he had aced in all the exams he promised, and thus earning his favourite game as a reward. And with the game, he was quite happy and excitedly played with his friends for the past three days.
Though, today, on the 4th day when he joined the game… this happened.
The doctors couldn't find out anything wrong with the body as they simply saw it functioning perfectly. Just that the boy wasn't gaining any concious whatsoever.
"Son! Son! Please wake up! I will get your favorite bike you wanted! I will get you anything you need… please wake up! Just wake up! I can't… Please… just wake up! Son… son…"
The mother cried harder as she began to lose hope while the boy stayed there without showing any motion.
"Somebody… please… save my son… somebody… all I have is my son… please… someone…"
She pleaded as much as she could, hoping that someone… anyone… could save his son.
The doctors and the nurses watched the mother with a saddened expression, unable to do anything as they stood there. Wondering what exactly was wrong with the kid… just… What could have happened?
Though… they didn't know…
That it was only the beginning…
