The Web Walker's crystalline legs clicked against the ground as it moved into position, its multiple eyes fixed on Saguna with obvious anticipation. "The corruption transfer first," it announced, its voice carrying harmonics of hunger. "The contamination must be removed before any transition rituals can begin safely."
Saguna looked at his friends, then at his unconscious sister in his arms. "Will it hurt?"
"Pain is temporary," the Web Walker replied, which wasn't really an answer. "But the corruption has been with you long enough to feel like part of your essence. Its removal will be... noticeable."
Before anyone could object, the creature began spinning crystalline strands from specialized organs along its legs. The threads moved with purpose, wrapping around Saguna's arms and torso with surprising gentleness. Unlike the organic silk of normal spiders, these strands felt cool and slightly electric against his skin.
