They were from the Salvation Bureau and were just guarding the vortex, minding their own business when they started hearing unusual snarls.
Per the bureau calculations, the beast in the dungeon weren't supposed to break out anytime soon, so they were caught of guard.
They just went to check it out, they wanted to know which beast was that, and try killing it before informing the bureau.
So they went slowly not to alert the beast, one of them brought out their sword and started circulating the Qi in their dantain, in preparation for a fight.
With their senses in full alert, they went even closer, the vortex was making the figure in front of them blurry.
All they were seeing was a squirming humanoid figure with gray color and a broad chest... They couldn't see the figure quite clearly.
They then let their curiosity take the better part of them...so they hesitated to attack.
