Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Jin

"Don't touch him!"

Everyone turned to see who it was, and they were all immediately shocked by who the owner of the voice was.

Liam stood behind the crowd and couldn't see who it was even after trying so hard, but from the looks of it, everyone seemed to respect the person.

'Wonder who it is.'

The crowd opened like a half-eaten doughnut, just so she could pass through. As she walked, everyone seemed to pay her respect by bowing.

Then she came into full view—it was Mary. A female he once dated back when the original owner of the body was alive. But what was she doing here, and why did she command so much power?

'What the hell is she doing here?'

He wanted to ask so many questions, but he knew this wasn't the person, place, or time to ask, so he decided to take care of this problem first before he looked into hers.

"Good day, ma'am," the receptionist spoke out, bowing slightly. "Sorry for the commotion, but this man walked in here and declared himself our CEO."

She turned to Liam for a while, then glanced back at Pema, the receptionist.

"As much as I don't want to admit it, yes he is. And I thought I informed you we were expecting a special guest today? So why the uninvited behaviour?"

She turned to Liam, shaking vividly. "I wasn't expecting someone like him to show up. I'm sorry, ma'am."

Mary turned to Liam, "Someone like him?" She scoffed. "Should I sack her from her job?"

But he shook his head. "She was just doing her job, no need to make it personal."

"Thank you so much, sir," she bowed in thanks.

But Liam wasn't done talking. He turned to the man in the white tux. "What's his position in this company?"

Mary turned to the man he was referring to. "Him? He's my manager. Why do you ask?"

He thought for a while, then sighed. "I'm not a wicked person, so I'm not going to get you fired. But you need to learn some manners. Make them both cleaners for a full month. That way, when someone speaks to them, they'd respond nicely."

The man had stood quiet the whole time, shaking heavily at the sight of it all, but Liam's words snapped him back to reality.

"Sir? Sir? Please don't do this. I'm sorry I was being rude to you. I'll make sure not to repeat it again!"

But Liam wasn't the type to easily push something away. "I didn't stutter, and you heard me. I don't change my words because of sentiments."

Pema, who was about to speak, drew back her words, then bowed slightly. "As you wish then, sir."

While the man arrogantly walked up into his office, grabbed his belongings, and stormed out of the building, repeating the same words.

"You'll regret this, Liam! I'll make sure you will!"

Liam watched him leave without an atom of guilt visible on his face. Then he turned to the receptionist.

"At least you're reasonable. Do well, and you might just get promoted to manager."

Then he grabbed Mary and took her upstairs. "I have so many questions, and I hope you answer them."

Upon reaching the office doors, he yanked her in and shut the door tight behind him.

"So, tell me, what are you doing here? I don't remember hiring you to become the acting CEO."

"You don't remember a lot of things, Liam," she muffled.

"Right, you left me to be killed by my own family, despite knowing I wasn't in the wrong, then went on to date my cousin. Do you know how that feels?"

She turned a sorry expression on her face. "I'm sorry, Liam, but the past is the past."

"Yeah right. What happened to him anyway? Is he done using you?"

"Don't say words like that, Liam. You're hurting my feelings. We broke up last month because he can't hold himself from sleeping with women, and I just couldn't stand it."

"Tsk!"

He walked up to the window. "If not for your good business knowledge, I would have sent you out of this office."

"I'll make sure not to make you regret your decision, Liam. And I'll slowly earn your trust back."

He turned to her at that comment. "If I believe you again, then it means I must be a bigger fool than I imagined."

He walked out the door and slammed it behind him.

He came here looking for Jin, but she happened to be nowhere to be found.

'Just when I need her, she just disappeared!'

He mumbled to himself on the way out, his face down. Then, like the universe planned, he bumped into her.

"Hey, be careful! Watch where you're going!"

She bent to pick up some documents that fell after the bump.

He raised his head immediately, instantly recognising the voice. 'I know that voice somewhere… it's Jin!'

"Jin?"

She raised her head to meet his, metres away from hers. "Liam?"

Their eyes stared at each other for a while before she immediately looked away, nervous.

This was the first time he had seen her without anything covering her face, and she was as pretty as he guessed.

With purple short hair, pink lips, brown eyes, and a figure that looked like that of a model.

"Jin? It really is you."

She bent down and filled up all the files, ignoring his question. "I don't know who Jin is."

"You just recognised me, didn't you? So why are you behaving like I can't figure out it's you?"

She rose up with the documents in her hand. "Fine, it's me. And I usually don't show my face to anyone I'm working with to avoid being targeted later or becoming a future love interest.

"You're lucky enough to have seen my face, but please do well to erase it out of your mind," she walked off.

But he followed behind her. "Come on, I came here to say something important. Can you just hear me out?"

She turned to him. "Not here, Liam. Definitely not here. I have somewhere safe enough to have a conversation."

But someone was secretly following them behind.

'This is just the beginning,' they smirked.
