Rui groaned, pulling a pillow over her face.
"If that's either of them, tell them I've been devoured by a beast."
Kee Kee hopped to the door, sniffing suspiciously before opening it a crack.
His tiny form barely filled a quarter of the doorway as he peered out.
"What?" he growled at the trembling servant boy who stood with one fist still raised to knock.
The boy's eyes darted between Kee Kee and the sounds of Rui's muffled groaning from within.
"I—I have a message for the Princess." His voice cracked.
"Been waiting for the... shouting to stop."
Kee Kee narrowed his eyes. "Well?"
"High Priestess Madam Yao requests her presence tomorrow."
The boy thrust forward a sealed scroll. "Said it was important."
Kee Kee snatched the scroll with his teeth, making the boy flinch.
"Will there be a reply?" the servant squeaked.
From beneath her pillow, Rui's voice emerged, suddenly crystal clear.
"Tell her I'll be there."
