LANA'S POV
PRESENT
It's been a week since I moved in with Xavier at his hideout and it has been a couple of days since I received that cryptic message from that unknown sender. I tried calling the number that sent the message multiple times but at every attempt I kept getting sent to voice mail until recently when I was informed that the number no longer exists
How can a number that sent a text a few days ago no longer exist? I had so many questions but I had no idea how to find the answers. It was like the universe was fighting against me but I wasn't about to give up
I'm not going to rest until I made Xavier pay for what he did, until I killed him with my own hands, I wasn't going to rest
My mind raced with all the possibilities that that message could reveal. Could Xavier be into something else? How far does his web of lies stretch out to?
I needed to figure it out
While I tried to make sense of everything going on, I felt my phone vibrate, liking me from my thoughts. I glanced at the screen and it was Nathan. I hadn't heard from him since the day we met at the restaurant
"Hey babe" He said the moment I answered the call "How are you?"
"I dunno. Just thinking about a lot of things" I answered, tucking a stray strand of hair behind my ear
"Feel like talking about it with me?" He asked
"Talking isn't going to fix my problems honestly"
"If you'd like, we could go to the park and just… I dunno, breathe"
I thought about it for a second and it honestly didn't sound like a bad idea "I'll meet you there"

I got to the park about thirty minutes past 2pm and I found Nathan standing by the entrance with a cup of ice cream on hand. His face brightened up as our eyes connected and it felt nice seeing him smile like that.
"You look good" He said handing my the cup "I thought you might want something sweet considering how bitter things have been"
So cheesy but it was enough to make me smile
I grabbed the cup from him as he stepped out of the way, guiding me through the metal gate entrance to the park "Thank you"
We walked through the paved pathway watching other families and their pets laughing and running around, enjoying themselves.
"They all look so happy" I said as we walked past a family of three; a man, his wife and their daughter. She was running around playing tag with her mother while the man captured the moment on his phone. He had the biggest smile or the three
"That could be us someday" I heard Nathan say. His voice pulling me out from my thoughts
I turned to look at him, a sad smile etched in my lips as a year threatened to break free from my eyes "But it'll never be Lana"
"Babe" He held my hand, slightly squeezing it
"I'm sorry" I sniffled, wiping at my cheeks "I just miss her so much"
He pulled me closer into a warm embrace, his hands wrapped around me in a deep affectionate hug as I tried silently into his shoulder. I don't know how long I was in his arms but by the time he let go, his shoulder was a mixture of tears and snot
If I didn't just finish crying, I'd have cried again out of embarrassment.
"You took the phrase "having a shoulder to cry on" very personal" Nathan teased
"Shut up" I chuckled with tears in my eyes, smacking his forearm
"You wanna get out of here?" He asked looking at me and I could tell what he meant but that's not what I needed right now
"Lets just stay here" I said, heading to one of the metal benches
I could tell he was disappointed but if I'm being honest, I really just needed fresh air. We sat in silence, with Nathan on his phone for most of the time, scrolling about while trying to make small talk here and there. At about 5:30pm I slowly pushed up from the seat as other families began gathering their things to leave. He got up right after me. "Ready to leave?"
"Yeah" I answered, brushing the dirt from my skirt "Feeling tired"
"Wanna head back to my motel? You could rest there" He suggested
Going back to his motel, I'd rest for five minutes before he shoves his cock inside for the rest of my stay over there "I'd rather just head back home. Thank you for inviting me out today"
"No problem" He said to me with a smile on my face
I got into a cab and headed straight back home where I met Xavier in the living room with a man I've never seen before
"You're back" He said, rising to his feet as I entered the house
"Yeah. Hello" I said, greeting the man sitting on the opposite couch
"Good evening" He answered, half a smile spread across his lips "You must be Lana"
He rose to his feet stretching out his hand to me. I shook it lightly before letting go "What's going on?" I asked turning to face Xavier who had taken his place back on the couch
"This is Anderson, Mr Anderson Person. I invited him over. He used to be a very good friend of my father" Xavier answered "And he's also a police officer"
I raised an eyebrow as I tried to wrap my head around the fact that an officer was sitting in the room with us "I thought the reason why you decided to stay here was to hide from the police, so why did you invite one over to your hideout?"
"I believe you both have a lot to talk about" Mr Anderson said, pushing from his seat "Think about this very carefully" He said to Xavier before turning to leave
I turned to face Xavier as soon as the front door closed shut "What is he talking about?"
He paused for a second, scratching the neck of his neck "I'm going to turn myself in"
