Under the night sky, the Mizukage's office loomed like a ferocious beast, exuding an aura of danger.
Sasame activated Sage Mode and immediately sensed over thirty shinobi hidden within—members of the Mizukage's guard and ANBU. Their average strength was impressive, far surpassing that of the attacking force—excluding Mei Terumī, of course.
After all, the idea that the Mizukage was being controlled was too shocking for most to believe.
Mei and the Elder Chōjūrō knew that further delay would only alert their enemies, so they decided to take the risk. Fortunately, they still had an advantage: they outnumbered the opposition in terms of elite jōnin. The only uncertainties were the mysterious powerhouse and Yagura himself.
Sasame stood beside Mei. His unfamiliar face drew the attention of the Elder and Ao, but neither questioned his presence. Clearly, Mei had already informed them that she had hired a black-market shinobi.
The black market had existed for a long time and had built a solid reputation. The Elder and Ao welcomed Sasame's involvement—after all, there were few recorded cases of black-market shinobi betraying their employers.
"Mei, it's time," the Elder sighed. "Try not to kill unnecessarily. The Hidden Mist can't afford any more internal strife."
"Understood." Mei nodded, her gaze sharpening as she raised her hand and signaled.
Like shadows, over a dozen figures infiltrated the Mizukage's office. But it wasn't long before the building lit up with activity. A roaring water dragon erupted from the corridors, hurling a figure into the night.
The battle had begun.
Mei wasn't surprised. If the Mizukage's guard and ANBU were so easily breached, they wouldn't deserve their reputation.
In a dimly lit room, a White Zetsu clone emerged from the ground behind Obito Uchiha.
"Mei Terumī and her forces have launched an attack. They've clearly realized something's wrong with Yagura."
"Fools," Obito sneered, tilting his head arrogantly. "It took them this long to notice? Pathetic."
"What now?" White Zetsu knew his temperament and ignored the arrogance in his words.
"Since they've troubled us for so long, we should leave them a parting gift." Obito's voice was icy. "Make the Three-Tails explode."
Years ago, Kirigakure had sealed the Three-Tails into Rin Nohara, intending for her to return to Konoha and detonate it. Now, he would return the favor.
"Rin… watch this," Obito murmured with twisted devotion.
"Won't killing the Three-Tails interfere with the Akatsuki's plans?" White Zetsu asked cautiously.
"No plan is more important than my revenge for Rin!" Obito turned, his exposed Mangekyō Sharingan burning with hatred.
White Zetsu shrugged. "Fine, have it your way."
He sank back into the ground, leaving Obito alone. As a clone, he'd leave the real decisions to the main body.
Obito watched the battle outside, his spinning Mangekyō radiating killing intent.
At the same time, Sasame glanced upward. His Sage Mode-enhanced senses had already detected Obito's presence.
The Mangekyō Sharingan granted unique abilities, and Obito's was Kamui—an absurdly powerful technique. Its functions included:
Creating a separate dimension, allowing him to phase between realities.
Sucking enemies into that dimension.
Intangibility, letting him evade attacks.
Storing weapons in the dimension and summoning them mid-battle.
In short, he could fight, flee, and control the battlefield at will.
But Kamui had weaknesses.
Whenever Obito absorbed, released, or attacked, his body materialized, leaving him vulnerable. Additionally, since he only had one Mangekyō, his intangibility lasted a maximum of five minutes.
For most shinobi, these flaws meant nothing. Only a genius like Minato Namikaze—with his Flying Thunder God—could exploit them.
Sasame might be able to kill Obito with a surprise attack. But death was too merciful for a delusional, rage-filled brat like him.
True suffering came from crushing his spirit—from making him realize his failures.
In his past life, Sasame had wondered why Obito never tried to resurrect Rin. The reasons were likely complex: perhaps his warped mind believed the world was too cruel for her, or perhaps he couldn't face her after slaughtering his sensei, Kushina, and his own clan.
Rin would never forgive him. She would never love him.
So Obito chose to create a fake world where she would.
Exploiting that weakness would be the key to breaking him.
Beyond that, psychologically destroying Obito would yield far more Fate Points than simply killing him.
And right now, killing him would only expose Sasame's secrets and raise Mei's suspicions. There was no need for that.
As Sasame pondered, the battle reached its peak.
Neither Obito nor Yagura had yet appeared.
"Watch out!" Mei shouted.
A group of ANBU near the Mizukage's office formed hand seals in unison, unleashing a combined jutsu—Lightning Water Dragon Bullet.
The fusion of water and lightning, amplified by their collective chakra, lit up the night.
Mei gritted her teeth and formed her own seals. There was no room for mercy now.
Lava Release: Dissolving Mist Technique!
A corrosive, adhesive acid expanded rapidly, engulfing the dragon. Explosions erupted within its body as the acid ate through it, reducing the massive construct to pockmarked sludge that dripped onto the ground, burning holes into the earth.
"Fall back!" the ANBU captain screamed in panic.
But the acid wasn't done. Like a lethal tide, it surged toward them.
Mei, however, was drained. To maximize the technique's power, she had exhausted nearly all her chakra.
"Here." Sasame handed her a black pill. "Soldier pill."
"I have my own," Mei said weakly. "They're not much help mid-battle."
Standard soldier pills restored chakra but came with risks—unstable, foreign chakra could disrupt a shinobi's control. They were best used before or after combat.
"This one's special," Sasame said.
Mei hesitated but swallowed it. Instantly, her eyes widened.
This is… incredible.
Whoever made this had to be a master.
"Thank—"
Before she could finish, the battlefield fell silent.
The surviving ANBU parted, and Yagura emerged in his Mizukage robes, his expression stern.
"Do you intend to rebel?" he demanded.
In an instant, uncertainty spread through the attacking force. Only Mei, the Elder, and Ao remained resolute.
