"6.2 kg," Dr Cole announced, walking towards the bed where I sat. He was carrying Lennox who, like most of the time, was quiet. We had come for the children's monthly medical check up, and they were being placed on the scale, with Lennox taking the lead.
Dr Cole placed Lennox on the bed, and carried Laurel, who as I expected, put up a fight, flailing her tiny hands in the air, aiming for Dr Cole's face. Crossing back to the spot where the scale was, Dr Cole placed Laurel on the scale. She had gone quiet, probably realizing that it was pointless to fight.
"6.3 kg," He announced, and strolled towards the bed, to place Laurel on it, and also to carry Levi.
Leonard gave me a "well-done" look from across the bed, where he stood, and I stiffened a smile. Of course he had come to the hospital with us. It was one unspoken agreement we both had even though we did not really agree. If it involved the children, it involved the both of us.
