As Kai walked past the elders of the Hyuga Clan, he picked up the clan's genealogy and secret scrolls, flipping through them with purpose.
"Hyuga Hamura!"
Seeing this name on the first page of the Hyuga genealogy, Kai was momentarily stunned, but then it all made sense. "So, the Hyuga Clan are indeed descendants of Otsutsuki Hamura. It seems there must have been reasons for them to abandon the Otsutsuki surname. However, I doubt even the Hyuga Clan themselves understand the significance of this name."
With these thoughts briefly distracting him, Kai quickly refocused and continued to search through the Hyuga clan's genealogy and secret scrolls for the information he needed.
After some time, Kai's eyes lit up. "Found it—the Hyuga Clan's ancestral gathering place from hundreds of years ago!"
This was what Kai had been willing to offend the entire Hyuga Clan to find—just an address, but one of immense importance to him.
Through the system, Kai had upgraded his Byakugan to Tenseigan by absorbing ocular power. Initially, he thought he had gained all the capabilities of the Tenseigan. However, after years of developing his Tenseigan and his battle with the Six Paths of Pain, he realized that his Tenseigan's abilities were incomplete.
For instance, the Tenseigan should be able to manipulate gravity and repulsion, powerful enough even to destroy the moon.
And the infinite puppet control demonstrated by Otsutsuki Toneri, far surpassing the Hundred Puppets Performance in both quantity and scale, even controlling others' minds and actions.
These were abilities Kai's current Tenseigan did not possess.
Kai had a theory: the abilities of the Tenseigan were not limited to a single scope. Similar to how the Sharingan evolves into the Mangekyo Sharingan, with each having different ocular jutsu, the Tenseigan also had different evolutionary paths. One path was like Kai's, directly upgrading the Byakugan to Tenseigan. The other involved merging countless Byakugan ocular powers to evolve into an external Tenseigan.
The first type of Tenseigan was blue, while the second type was yellow.
The Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion, Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion, summoning the giant stone statue, and creating illusionary spaces were abilities of the blue Tenseigan. In contrast, manipulating gravity and repulsion were abilities of the yellow Tenseigan.
In the original storyline, Otsutsuki Toneri's ability to control Hinata and use gravity and repulsion was due to his control over the yellow Tenseigan on the moon.
With this understanding, Kai was determined to obtain the yellow Tenseigan on the moon.
To reach the moon, given his current inability to survive in a vacuum, Kai had only one option: use the passage connecting the moon and Earth left by the Otsutsuki Clan.
Searching the entire Land of Fire was unrealistic, so the Hyuga Clan, with their Byakugan, became Kai's primary target. He couldn't believe that such an ancient family wouldn't have records of these things in their genealogy or secret scrolls.
Having found what he wanted, Kai had no intention of lingering and prepared to leave the Hyuga household.
Suddenly, a loud cry caught Kai's attention as he was about to leave.
"A cry!" Kai's face showed interest.
Following the sound, Kai discovered a gentle-looking Hyuga woman with long hair holding a baby. Seeing Kai approach, she tightened her hold on the child and nervously asked, "Lord Kai, is there something you need?" In Konoha, there was hardly anyone who didn't recognize Kai.
Kai smiled and asked, "What's the child's name?"
"Hyuga Hinata." After speaking, the woman looked at Kai nervously.
So, it's Hinata?
Looking at the crying infant in the woman's arms, Kai's left eye slowly revealed the Byakugan, which then transformed into the Tenseigan.
"That's... the Byakugan!" The woman gasped, covering her mouth in shock.
A blue light emitted from Kai's left eye, merging into Hinata's eyes. The once-crying Hinata immediately quieted down, falling asleep in the woman's arms.
Seeing the worried expression on the Hyuga woman, Kai smiled gently. "No need to worry; consider it a small gift for Hinata." With that, he vanished from sight.
As Kai left, Hiashi Hyuga returned to normal. Realizing Kai had disappeared, he rushed to the ancestral shrine, only to find the elders in a daze.
"Oh no, Hanako and Hinata are still at home." With this thought, Hiashi hurriedly went to check on them.
Seeing Hanako holding Hinata safely, Hiashi visibly relaxed. "Hanako, did Shishio Kai come by?"
Hanako, Hiashi's wife, nodded, causing Hiashi to tense up again. "Did he do anything?"
Hanako shook her head, then nodded, saying, "Lord Kai said he left a gift for Hinata. Also, it seemed... seemed..." Hanako hesitated.
"Seemed what?" Hiashi pressed.
"It seemed Lord Kai also has the Byakugan," Hanako said uncertainly, as Kai's Byakugan had only appeared briefly before transforming into the Tenseigan.
Hiashi's eyes widened in shock. "You mean Shishio Kai has the Byakugan!"
"Yes," Hanako affirmed, nodding firmly. As a member of the Hyuga Clan, she couldn't possibly mistake the Byakugan.
Hiashi fell silent for a moment and then said, "Hanako, don't mention this to anyone. As for Hinata, don't worry. Shishio Kai didn't harm me, and he won't harm Hinata either."
"Okay," Hanako replied, finally putting her mind at ease.
Meanwhile, Kai bid farewell to Anko and Shishio Mitarashi in the ANBU, then disappeared from Konoha.
Hundreds of kilometers away from Konoha, in the snow-covered mountains, a slender waterfall cascaded down a thousand-meter drop, the roaring water echoing loudly.
"This is the place." Surveying the surroundings, Kai activated his Byakugan in his left eye.
