"Same as last time." Aiden murmured as he took out several cards from the system space.
He set aside the identity cards printed with Aerith and the others' portraits and looked carefully at the two job transfer cards, then immediately used them.
Once again, familiar music played. After using both cards, Aiden received two new professions.
Mechanic, Heart and Battle Mage, Blooming Flower. Still female classes, but still powerful.
After settling his lingering regrets, Aiden put out his cigarette, walked into the bedroom, rubbed his hands, and lay back on the bed.
It was crowded, but he was lying in a pile of women, wasn't that a kind of happiness?
Maybe it was because he felt more relaxed after returning to reality, or maybe it was just the comfort of his own bed, but that night Aiden slept soundly and didn't wake until morning light filled the room.
But the women on the bed began to slowly wake up.
One by one, the drowsy women sat up. When they saw each other, they were stunned and then looked away in embarrassment.
Although they all had intimate relationships with Aiden, this was the first time they had all shared the same bed, and they all felt a little shy.
After a short silence, the women all turned their eyes toward Aiden, who was still sleeping soundly, and were hesitating about whether to wake him up when the bedroom door opened.
"Master, it's time to..."
Seeing that her master's room suddenly had five somewhat familiar-looking women inside, Fabiola froze halfway through her words. After holding her pose for several seconds, she turned around and ran to her own bedroom.
———
"Senior Roberta, come quickly and see!"
Roberta had also just woken up not long ago. Hearing the loud voice of the little maid Fabiola, she somewhat discontentedly criticized, "As a maid, shouting and yelling is too improper. No matter what happens, you must remain calm."
"But…" Fabiola turned her head and glanced at Aiden's bedroom, then looked down and said, "But in master's room… there are five more women."
"Huh?" Roberta was stunned, and suddenly jumped out of bed. While putting on her clothes, she headed straight to Aiden's bedroom.
At this time, Aiden was also awakened by Fabiola's voice. Before he could comfort Aerith and the others, he saw Roberta striding in.
"Roberta, what's this about?" Seeing Roberta rush in with a fierce look, Aiden nervously glanced at her hands. After confirming she wasn't carrying a gun, he let out a breath of relief and asked.
Roberta took one look at Aerith and the others sitting on the bed and gave a slight smile, "Aiden, I'm here to welcome my sisters."
After speaking, she elegantly lifted a corner of her maid skirt and bent in courtesy to Aerith and the others.
———
Breakfast was made by Roberta. It was still typical South American flavor, and also… just as always, terribly bad.
She really wasn't good at any housework other than fighting, but she still enjoyed it tirelessly. After all, when not in combat, her identity was simply that of a maid.
To welcome the newly arrived sisters, she tried to make breakfast a bit richer than usual. But all that really changed was the addition of fried bananas and boiled beans. For Aerith and the others who had never eaten this kind of food before, it was at least something novel.
Aiden's house had three bedrooms and one living room, about a hundred square meters in total. It used to be fine, whether one person or four, it didn't make much difference, but now with five more people added, it felt a bit crowded. The not-so-big dining table was packed full with eight women and one man. Even just raising your hand, you had to be careful not to bump into someone else's arm.
Aiden sat at the main seat of the table, which was the center. With a blank expression, he bit into the fried banana Roberta brought to his mouth, chewed twice, then swallowed. Then he gave her a confirming smile.
No matter what, it was Roberta's effort. And after staying in the story world for so long, he actually missed Roberta's cooking a little.
Satisfied, Roberta withdrew her hand, took a bite from where Aiden had eaten, frowned, then knocked on Fabiola's head to remind her to pay attention to table manners.
"We'll need to move to a bigger house soon. With more people, everything becomes inconvenient." After eating a bit, Aiden felt somewhat full and put down his chopsticks as he spoke.
"I think it's great. Though a bit small, it doesn't feel so lonely. Back in Shinra, I lived alone in a villa, bored to death," said Scarlet, who was used to a life of luxury. Though she was curious about the fried banana, she only ate a little before stopping.
Holding a glass of red wine she found who-knows-where, she continued, "It's not inconvenient at all. Just squeeze together. I don't mind everyone sleeping together under one big quilt, isn't that better?"
Aside from Yuffie, Fabiola, and Manuela, the other women's faces all flushed upon hearing that. Even Aiden felt his face getting warm. How could they not understand what Scarlet meant by "sleeping together under one quilt"?
"There are still kids around!" Trying to cover his embarrassment, Aiden tapped his bowl with his chopsticks as a warning.
"They'll grow up eventually. It doesn't matter if they know a little early." Scarlet smiled mischievously at Aiden. After all, she was the oldest and most open-minded.
That said, ever since injecting herself with Jenova cells, she had indeed become much younger, now she looked like a woman in her early thirties. Every move she made radiated a seductive charm that tugged at Aiden's heart.
So for a moment, Aiden was a little lost in thought.
After clearing his throat, Aiden continued, "Though I don't mind sleeping in one bed, if it's too crowded, no one will sleep well. And if we're changing houses, we'd have to buy a bigger villa. After all… ahem, the matter of the villa can wait. From choosing the location to buying and decorating, moving in will take time. So later I'll go out and order some bunk beds. For now, everyone will have to make do."
Speaking of this, Aiden apologetically added, "The living conditions can only be like this for now. Please bear with it."
"It's okay." Aerith, always understanding, said, "The environment here is already very good."
Earlier, Aerith had looked outside through the window. The so-called third-tier city Aiden mentioned wasn't full of high-rises, but it was far better than the disc. More importantly, though it was a third-tier city, the greenery was great. Looking out, all you saw were plants. Compared to Midgar, where even weeds barely grew, this was a huge improvement.
"Yeah, the environment is already great," Tifa said. "I lived in a place like Stargazing Heights for five years, this is way better."
"Just don't know if Miss Scarlet can get used to it. Bunk beds should be those upper-lower ones, right? I remember they're quite narrow." Jessie glanced at Scarlet, her tone with a hint of sarcasm. Even though they had met a few times in that month, her hostility toward Shinra wasn't something easy to let go of.
"Even if the bed's so narrow it only fits one person, it doesn't matter. After all…" Scarlet recalled that night at the Mam massage parlor, then smiled without saying more.
"After all what?" Jessie frowned and asked, staring at Scarlet's smile.
"Nothing." Scarlet raised her glass and took a sip of red wine, slightly shaking her head.
Jessie frowned and wanted to press further, but was interrupted by Aiden.
"Alright, let's keep eating." So the topic ended there.
After breakfast, since it was still early, Aiden didn't change clothes for work right away. Instead, he sat heavily on the sofa and lit a cigarette.
Roberta and Fabiola naturally went to clean the kitchen and dining room. Aerith and the other girls curiously watched Manuela flipping through TV channels non-stop.
"There are way more entertainment channels in this world than ours." Watching Manuela flip through more than ten channels without any repeats, Scarlet sighed.
"Because this world… no, this country is very safe," Manuela said, finally finding the show she wanted to watch.
A movie channel. A South American gangster film was playing.
Aiden glanced at it and asked, "Feeling homesick?"
"How could I? Just reminiscing about my homeland." Manuela shook her head.
"Your hometown was that chaotic?" Yuffie asked in surprise, pointing to the gunfight scene in the movie.
"More chaotic than this." Manuela sat cross-legged on the floor, resting her arm on her leg and her chin on her hand.
Yuffie tried to imagine it, then shook her head. "Hard to imagine."
"That's why I really enjoy this peaceful life now. Especially being with the one I like." Manuela turned and glanced at Aiden, a serene smile on her face.
"Who doesn't?" Aerith mimicked her and sat on the floor too. But her figure was taller and curvier than Manuela, which made her seem less cute and more silly-looking.
So she immediately adjusted her posture, placed a sofa cushion on the floor, and kneeled on it.
After finishing his cigarette, Aiden got up and went to his room to change clothes.
Aerith and the others didn't know what was going on, and looked at Manuela in confusion.
Manuela glanced at the time and said, "Aiden went to change clothes. He's going to work soon."
"Work?" Hearing Manuela's words, Aerith and the others all froze.
"He still has a job in this world?" Tifa asked.
"Yeah." Manuela nodded.
Scarlet got interested and asked, "What kind of job does Aiden do?"
"Not sure. Aiden never told us. But it's a regular 9-to-5 job with weekends off." After speaking, Manuela explained what "9-to-5" and "weekends off" meant.
"Sounds nice." Jessie glanced at Scarlet and said, "My parents worked for Shinra for so many years and never had weekends off, busy all the time."
"I didn't even get them myself, okay?" Scarlet was unhappy with Jessie's look. "Because of your Avalanche, we always had late-night meetings. I had to spend so much time on skincare. Luckily, now I don't have to. I can use all my time to maintain my looks."
"To become some ageless demoness, huh?" Jessie mocked.
"Thanks for the compliment." Scarlet didn't mind and even took it as praise.
"But doesn't that mean he won't have time to spend with us during the day?" Tifa suddenly missed the old days, when nothing was going on, Aiden would stay at the bar all day.
"That's why I plan to resign," said Aiden, who had just finished changing clothes and walked out of his room. "I'll go hand in my resignation letter to my boss later."
"But then… won't you have no income?" Tifa asked worriedly. The past taught her money was important.
So she continued, "If you're not going to work, then open a bar. Open a Seventh Heaven in this world. With my bartending skills, I can totally support you."
"I can help too!" Yuffie shouted with her hand raised.
"I can sell flowers." Aerith raised her hand too.
"I can sing." Jessie also raised her hand, then looked at Scarlet and said, "What about you? Manuela said this world is peaceful. You're not planning to open a weapons lab, are you?"
"Why should I open one?" Scarlet looked at her in confusion, then smiled sweetly. "I just need to use my free time to accompany Aiden."
Hearing this, all the women who raised their hands lowered them and said in unison, "No way."
Aiden watched this scene with a laugh. "I'm not thinking about opening a store for now. Let's wait until you all get bored. Anyway, even if you do nothing, I can afford to support you."
Then he glanced at the time and saw it was already 8 o'clock. He picked up the keys and was about to head out. But when he reached the door, he suddenly remembered something and turned to Tifa.
"Tifa, change your clothes and come with me."
When he brought them back to the real world, he used the system space to carry some of their luggage. Now it was all in his bedroom.
Hearing that Aiden wanted to take her out, Tifa was stunned for a moment, then pleasantly surprised. She quickly rushed into his room.
"Why just her?" Scarlet said unhappily.
"Yeah!" Aerith, Jessie, and Yuffie also nodded in agreement.
Only Manuela glanced at them, then turned her attention back to the TV. She had already gone out with Aiden several times.
"Um…" Aiden frowned and thought for a while but couldn't say the reason. He couldn't tell them it was because he wanted to show off to his fellow nerdy boss.
The truth was, no matter who he brought, it would be for showing off. It's just that Tifa's look was more recognizable. After all…
Of course, due to the system's effect, even people who had played the game would just think these girls looked like game characters, they wouldn't think they actually came out of the game. But even so, it was enough to make others envious.
Since he really couldn't say it out loud, Aiden could only promise to take the others next time. That finally calmed them down.
