Chapter 332 - Proper nutrition

Red eyes appeared in the darkness of the room behind Jasmine, approached her silently and stopped beside her.

"She's not going to tell us what we need to know, right?" He asked in a grave tone.

"I guess not." Jasmine replied, staring in awe at the moon, but thankful that Maxwell was distracted in his own thoughts, not reading hers. Anna was no ordinary Bruma, she knew all the time that Maxwell was paying attention. She overheard the vampire master talking. She would bring trouble. But she was the solution to many problems. What she could never let Maxwell know was that the moonlight touched Anna as soon as she hit the ground, when she jumped out of the window. The moon didn't welcome werewolves, but it welcomed Anna, as if they were old friends.

 ...

Anna ran into the woods surrounding the property. She passed her father's house. She liked the serene spot where the house was built, and moved on. She didn't know what she was looking for, but she found out when she saw a bush rat. She caught it easily and sucked its blood. She closed her eyes, searching for the wisdom of that little animal, but there was nothing. Only satiety. The rat was dead in her hand and she threw it away. It was much better than absorbing other people's confused thoughts and feelings. The animals would be her source of thirst. She no longer needed to sacrifice lives. That was something that had been bothering her. And now it was solved.

She heard light footsteps and all her senses went on alert. She looked to the side of the noise and waited, unafraid. There was no more dangerous predator than her.

She watched as a large white wolf emerged from the undergrowth and sat three meters away from her, watching.

Anna frowned. A white wolf? What did that mean?

She approached and he remained in place, just watching her curiously.

Anna reached out and brushed the fuzz from the animal's head. He allowed it, as if approving of the contact.

 Anna smiled.

"You're a good dog, but the people here might be frightened because there are wolves in the area. They don't know that vampires are much more dangerous. They don't know we exist." Anna said and stared into the animal's yellow eyes. "You should go, but I can't help thinking that it would be very nice if two brothers I knew were as sweet as you." She said and smiled when the wolf growled, as if it didn't want to be called docile.

Anna looked back. She could hear them talking in her house. But the noise the children were making prevented her from understanding what was being said, but it made her realize that she had to get home. She looked back, but the wolf was no longer there.

Anna used her speed and went to her father's house.

Jenna welcomed her with a hug.

[08:53, 12/10/2024] 🇧🇷: The wolf was hiding among the bushes watching Anna walk away, when the shadow of a cultist with red eyes and huge wings approached and stopped beside him.

"I'm not surprised by your presence here. I knew you were too resigned. It couldn't be true." The figure said to the wolf, who stared at him and then stood up.

"We need to follow her closely. We'll need to intervene if she tries to undo the manipulation of werewolves and vampires."

"Maybe we need to kill her."

 The wolf wasn't shaken.

"Not before we know if the boy has inherited the Bruma."

 The red-eyed creature nodded.

"If she doesn't try to free her mind from the supernaturals, we don't need to kill her."

"Let's hope she chooses life, then." The wolf replied and disappeared into the woods.

 ...

"Your father isn't home. He bought motorcycles for the boys and delivered them to your house." Jenna explained after they had sat down.

 Anna smiled amusedly.

"That's why I can hear a big commotion coming from the mansion."

"Yes. I told Henry that it would disturb the boys' sleep and that I should leave it for tomorrow, during the day, but I know Dad was very anxious to see his grandchildren's reaction."

"Anna could understand her father's motives. Seeing the children happy was heartwarming. But that's not what she went there to do.

"Jenna... I need you to arrange my trip with Henry to Avallon. I need to get there as soon as possible." Anna said and watched Jenna's reaction. She was reassured. She didn't seem to be hiding a secret.

"You should talk to your father about this, Anna. I... It's his ship."

"Yes. But I know there's no point in me going to a land full of magic without them extending a warm welcome. I know that you know the inhabitants of the island, and you can let them know that I'm coming, so that I can be properly received."

 Jenna smiled reassuringly.

"You're Bruma, Anna. There's no need to worry. Avallon is the home of the Mists. You'll be welcomed. I'd like to be on good terms with the natural people there, but they don't like werewolves very much."

Anna squeezed her eyes shut suspiciously.

"Didn't you make friends when you went to take my mother's body to them?"

Finally, Anna detected a surprised look on Jenna's face.

"Anna... You wouldn't understand... I didn't need to speak to anyone on that island. I was met at the port, and I don't know anywhere else on that island."

Anna sensed that she was telling the truth and wondered. What kind of secret could he have, if he hadn't even walked around the island? Knowing that was comforting. It was just a mistake on Jasmine's part.

"Well... I won't wait for Henry. You tell him I've been here and... That he should arrange our trip as soon as possible."

"I'll give him the message, but it's likely that you'll meet on the way."

"No. I'm... I won't take the road, I'll run through the woods and... I'm going in through the window."

"You look different. You seem more experienced. You even reminded me of Genevieve..."
