On that day Ben went out for a bit after the transaction. He did not hunt anything. He just went near the territories of trava lupis and blesk corax. He did not go really near to them, because he was afraid that he might alert them. He marked certain points and studied the terrain to an extent. He tried to map out a retreat path from both these territories.
Ben then decided to go to the territory of the blesk corax next. He did not know what kind of resource he would get. He knew there were some trees and minerals along with some plants that are either helpful for lightning type animals and meridian wielders, or things that were completely immune to energy flow. Both of them had uses in the hands of tech savvy people. Trava lupis were nocturnal animals to a certain extent, whereas the blesk corax are day hunters. Thus, the security in its territory will be lax. They do have extraordinary senses, but if one can hide somewhat well, someone will be able to go into their territory. So long as their nests are not disturbed, where there are scouts, the blesk coraxes will not know.
The territory of the blesk corax was comprised of a combination of thick forest and some hills. This was not the territory of the monarch rank blesk corax, but a lord class one. On these hills there was lightning strikes. It was said that some of the flora and fauna along with some mineral deposits there attracted the lightning there. There were some magnetic type materials there as well, which were used in some power generation and transportation technologies. Thus it became the breeding ground for the blesk coraxes.
Ben moved towards the territory of the blesk coraxes. There were some other small animals and insects there which were the food for these coraxes. He took the cover of the thick forest and slowly moved looking for some materials. He did not find anything in the forest. So he began to climb a hill. There were some plants and trees he could collect. He left it for last. This was because, Silock, their mobile merchant, would come after 4 days now and he wanted to delay the plucking of these plants as much as possible.
On his way, he did kill some terra beoufs. It was very easy to ambush them. Although they were not matured versions. He collected their bodies in his storage device. This was his contribution towards the food situation.
He continued his journey. Soon he reached the lair of the lord class blesk corax. He could sense nothing there. There was no imminent threat or danger, or at least that is what his senses said. He went into its nest. The nest was situated at the top of this hill, where lightning strikes were close by. He saw that the nest was made with a combination of plants, magnetic minerals and lightning type treasures. There were many egg shells and feathers of a lord class blesk corax. He recognized this because , the feathers were still emitting electric power. He decide to store them in special containers used for storing certain herbs.
He did not know about the egg shells, but the other materials were a haul for him. He searched the are a near the nest. There were some minerals and metals that were of use to him. There were highly magnetic metals and energy insulating minerals nearby. He assumed the lord class corax must have been the one to collect these. These materials must be waste products that came after building its nest. He collected these materials as well and descended the hill.
While he was descending, he saw a brook near by. It was a bit deep and from far away it was beautiful. So he went to that brook. As he neared the brook, he felt that all the metal on his person was being pulled to that brook. He looked there and found that the rocks there were extremely magnetic in nature. He did not know what type of material it was. But seeing that it was magnetic in nature he decided to take it. He first removed all his metallic belongings including the storage device. He kept everything but the storage device away. He kept the storage device a bit closer. Then he carried the magnetic rocks one by one and activated a special field in the storage device to store these materials in another compartment in the storage device. The device he was carrying today was an improved version. He collected quite a lot of rocks.
After collecting he decided to explore the vicinity. He walked around. He did not find anything of value. While he was walking back, he saw a rock. It had a lustrous black color which was shining in the afternoon sun. He found it really attractive. It was not magnetic nature. He did not know what it was. Just because it was beautiful he took that rock also.
On his way back he encountered a group of 7 blesk coraxes. Luckily, he was at the border of the territory of the blesk coraxes. He di not hesitate. After understanding that the birds had noticed him and were preparing to attack him, he struck them pre-emptively. They were at a really low altitude and that was how the birds spot Ben through the thick forest. He used a rock and then a tree trunk as leverage and jumped towards the lowest flying bird. He activated his claws and struck to kill it, before it could unleash its lightning. He landed on top of the bird, completely crushing its head and killing it. The other coraxes had already made their move and Ben barely managed to avoid the lightning bolts. Rolling over he took the cover of a tree.
The birds did not flee, but rather they came towards him. But they did not fly at a low altitude, after the death of their mate. These creatures had wingspan of about 160 CMS and a height of about 2 ft. So Ben assumed these were lower knight level creatures. The noble class ones would have wingspan of more than 6ft. As they neared him, he could sense that they were readying their lightning attacks. Ben wanted to throw something at them. But there was nothing. So he activated the storage device and threw whatever he got first in his hands. Because it was thrown hastily, it did not strike any of the birds. But it came in between them mid flight. That was also the instance when the released their lightning attack together. A large part of the lightning attack struck near Ben, which he dodged to a certain extent and also blocked with his claw barely. A part of the lightning struck this black stone. The lightning was repelled by the stone and formed a dangerous arc of electricity around the birds. Although the birds produce electricity, they are not immune to the heat produced by it. That is what happened. The reflected lightning strike produced heat due to the arc and struck the birds. 2 of them died on spot and 5 of them fell from the sky and were injured, writhing from pain. Ben did not hesitate. He quickly crushed their heads quickly. But he had underestimated the tenacity of the birds. In their dying breath one of the birds released a lightning burst at full power which exploded it and flung Ben at a considerable distance.
Luckily, he was not that injured and could stand up pretty quickly. He looked around. 5 birds were in good condition. Two birds were completely ruined by the blast. He also looked for the stone he flung and found it. He did not linger much and went back to the camp as he was injured. He needed to recuperate.
