Chapter 1 - The Beginning

It all began with a group of us – me, our EVS teacher, and a few friends caught up in an ordinary day at college. That is, until one of my friends disrespected our EVS sir by saying, "You don't even have any passion for teaching, you just come here for the money." That one line hit his ego hard. Something snapped inside him. And in just a few moments, things went from a regular day to absolute chaos.

Instead of reacting like a normal teacher, he took it to a whole different level. He called up some of his friends, people from the militants and the next thing we knew, an intense chase began. Sir and his gang were coming after us like it was war.

We jumped into our cars and tried to escape. But they had everything – speed, weapons, advanced-level tech. One of his vehicles rammed into my friend's car, flipping it into a ditch. The crash was brutal. One of my friends didn't survive.

We didn't even have time to grieve. The chase continued.

And then… things got even crazier.

Since he had militant contacts, Sir ordered a special vehicle built with nanotechnology—a beast of a machine that looked more like an ATV from the future. It came out of nowhere and started chasing us down again.

Somehow, by pure luck or desperation, we escaped. Only four of us were left.

We took shelter in a building across the street from our college. It was tall, five floors high. Sir and his goons were in the college building, watching and waiting. Meanwhile, a college function was happening downstairs—totally unaware of the madness going on above.

Sir was on the second-highest floor of the college, and we were on the top floor of the opposite building. He pulled out heat-seeking binoculars to scan the area. Then we saw it—a flash of sunlight reflecting off his lens, hitting our exact window. That's how we knew… he saw us.

I had heat-seeking binoculars too. Don't ask how—I just did. I grabbed them and stared back. We were face to face—well, heat-signature to heat-signature.

Fear kicked in. I told one of my friends, "Find something thick, something strong. If he's got snipers, we're sitting ducks." My friend ran around and came back with a thick glass pane. The window we were using was small, like a train window, so it was easy to jam the glass in without any support. It wasn't bulletproof, but it might slow them down.

Then I did something risky. I ran across the floor, moving fast, on purpose—just to see if Sir was tracking us. I handed the binoculars to my friend and told him to watch. And yeah, Sir's eyes followed me. He was locked on.

I took the binoculars back and stared again.

Then suddenly, downstairs, the college event began. Loud music, lights, chaos. Sir saw his chance.

He grabbed his chest and faked getting shot. A full-on act. His goons believed it instantly. Some teachers joined them, and they all stormed our building looking for us.

My friends tried to escape but got cornered. I was lucky.

The staircase wasn't fully sealed—it was partitioned with plywood, not concrete. I smashed through one of the walls and bolted.

As I ran down, someone stopped me. It was a teacher from my childhood. She knew me—really knew me—and understood instantly that I wasn't guilty. She raised her voice, pretending like she hadn't seen me in years. "Hey! Is that you? It's been forever!"

That moment gave me the cover I needed. I slipped into the crowd and vanished before the others could catch me.

I made it home, breathless, heart pounding. I looked at Dad and said, "I have to leave the city. Now."

He didn't ask questions. He just nodded, packed what I needed, and dropped me off at the railway station on his bike. I didn't buy a ticket. I didn't want to leave a trace. I slipped onto the train quietly—headed to a new city, a new life.

With everything I knew left behind.

To be continued...
