Chapter 76
The battle continued with all the grace and coordination of a food fight in a kindergarten run by caffeine-addicted raccoons.
On one side, the Tanukatuans, stoic and composed, shouted regulation codes as they jabbed forward with well-maintained spears. "Formation Delta-Three! Maintain unit cohesion! Clause 9 prohibits reckless thrusting!" one barked as he expertly parried a firebomb.
On the other side were the Emberkin. Shirtless, shoeless, and sanity-less, they hurled firebombs, danced on overturned wheelbarrows, and screamed battle cries like "DOWN WITH STRUCTURE!" or "FIRE IS JUST PASSION YOU CAN THROW!" One of them was setting his own pants on fire while declaring, "I burn so I may feel!" Another one ran in circles, holding a lit candle in each hand, chanting, "No rules! Just fire!"
I ducked as a flaming stone flew past my head and exploded against a nearby wall.
"Goddamit. What the hell are we doing here?" I asked no one in particular.
