Anna's eyes widened in horror. "Jump?" she repeated. "Are you crazy?"
Alex's face was set in a determined expression. "It's the only way," he said. "We have to get out of here."
Anna's mind was racing. The figure was closing in on them, and they had no other options.
As she looked down at the river, Anna felt a surge of fear. The water was churning and foaming, and it looked deadly.
But Alex was right. They had to try.
"Okay," Anna said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Let's do it."
Alex nodded, and they took a deep breath. Together, they leaped off the cliff, plummeting towards the river below.
The rush of wind was intense, and Anna felt weightless. She closed her eyes, bracing for impact.
The water hit Anna like a slap, and she felt herself being pulled under. She struggled to swim to the surface, but a strong current swept her away.
As she tumbled through the water, Anna lost all sense of direction. She didn't know which way was up or down.
